If i had a nickel for every time a gnome from the Thyme family got involved with Beholder nonsense, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
This was a great reminder why my group never gets on well with pre-made modules. The moment any of us saw a manor like that, we'd string Volo up by the ankles and demand our money. We've all tried base building in different games, and it's never worked out for the flow of the story because we either get too invested in that and don't play the actual game any more, or we ignore the place and regret taking it. Also, if players do get invested in home bases, there's always a sense of "At some point the GM is going to blow it up," and whenever that happens players just sigh and say that they shouldn't have bothered with it. Doing a little reading around the module, looks like the manor is not really important at all, but it also seems like there's no official way to refuse it.

13:18 Reviving a discussion from the original upload: what's the actual answer to the door riddle? Some people mentioned words that had "invi" like "invitation" and "invisibility" (because "vine" begins with "vi", and "in" is in the middle of "mine"), but that doesn't seem to take all the hints into account. "Opening for the one of the same that which is in its name" seems to suggest the answer would include an anagram of "keyed door" (or a substring of it). A possible multi-word anagram of "invikeyed" is "divine key", but I don't think that's the answer (the riddle suggests it is a one-word answer).
"What stands before you it a keyed door, nothing less and nothing more. Opening for the one of the same, that which is in its name. From the middle of mine and beginning of ine what is the word." It doesn't sound like vine to me. It sounds like the suffix ine, of or pertaining to,” “of the nature of,” “made of,” “like.
@@bestaround3323 Oh, I think you're right (I just blindly trusted the automated captions, which said "vine"). So the other clue should be just "in" then, since it's both the middle of "mine" and the beginning of "ine". Maybe the answer is "indoor", then?
Gave it a rewatch 👍 Question, is Tuff played by the same player who played Asiago and Gouda? The random s’mores in the middle of everything reminded me of Gouda’s player as a thing they’d do
I dont remember what I said last time in the comments, but I'm glad you labeled this as a re upload, so often when people do that it's just up to us trying to remember if we're going crazy or if we saw it already. haha
I’m planning to play a senile elderly Elf, he’s so old that he mistaken NPCs as his grandchildren. If they try to correct him, he’ll fire back with he’s their X# of Greats grandparent.
Hahah I just made a old lady character for my new campaign, I will have to steel the candy in the pocket idea. But I made a old halfling sorcerer with dementia, the joke is wild magic just poffed her somewhere and she's just trying to go home and when wild magic happens she sort of just forgot what spell she was doing and messed it up
The Werther's Originals slander delighted me. How does the cleric of the Twilight book series feel about wererats? Is he team vampire or team werewolf? Or is he up for anything as long as the acting is bad enough? I need to know more about his religion!
"Or is he up for anything as long as the acting is bad enough?" I loved that line. edit: ... Oh no, but then I thought about it and ruined it. There was no acting in the book series.
The implication the Tuffs older sister is Gouda is very tragic given that means he will never see her again since Maverice has trapped her in the Shadowfel.
I love when the players help with nat 1 ideas ... I once had a players nat 1 on a heal check to remove an arrow stuck in some1's leg get the coment "I guess i just hit him in the gut with my mace to distract him" ... my responce to this was of coirse "roll for damage" ... this became a running joke item at our table "mace of healing" - makes the patient forget about their current injuries
16:32 " 'Someone, give me a cleric', the cleric said" Physician, heal thyself (or better yet, do everything you can to improve your saving throws, especially Con/Wis)! Lesser Restoration would probably have solved that situation, but clerics usually have better (less situational) 2nd level spells to prepare than that one (like Aid, Enhance Ability, and Spiritual Weapon).
In the description he says he found a few errors and decided that he had caught it in time to replace the original with this edited. So some things are probably different
Man, Puffin, you missed a good joke with the bottom left character. Should have named them, "Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Episode." People would have gotten the joke.
i get a feeling that one of your earlier videos is linked to this game, the video where you complained about your groups proclivity to collect creatures and make them NPC's, Apparently they collected Quite the Menagerie
There were some failed takes / repeated lines, but that's no reason to delete the video imo. Not sure if that's what he's talking about, but I'm not rewatching to confirm lol
@@DIMOHA25 I've rewatched it, and you're absolutely right, tho I didn't notice the repeated lines until you mentioned it, but now you have I do remember it, tho I thought it might have been a character repeating it for effect, so it didn't stand out to me. 😅
As I said in the previous video, my players have learned to be very careful when it comes to giving DMs ideas. It's became a bit of a running joke whenever a new player says something daft. The final boss of a pokethulu game was inspired by something a player said in the first session.
Is Tuff somehow related to Parsley, Sage, and Rosemary? They were some great adventuring sisters. Heard they ran for Si'imonn and Gar-Funkal Adventuring guild...
What exactly is the creature that Nana sees at the arena? I can't find anything. I also don't know how the name is spelled so I can't find what it is in other sources

"Right now you're murderhobos, how would you like to be murderhomeowners" is such a great line, absolutely going to steal that for later!
I love how just from watching Ben's content for years, I know EXACTLY who Tuff's player is and what nonsense they're bringing
She’s awesome. =D
A crazy Thyme
Quite annoying lol
I love the world building! Seeing Gouda's family member is awesome and i love the beholder having a pet goldfish like in that other campaign!
That other campaign was actually the same module. Ben’s run it multiple times.

It took more time than it should have for me to realize Tuff Thyme is Gouda's brother
Sadly, I don't think so
At the very least, we can be fairly certain it's the same player.
Cousin, methinks, based on them being from Waterdeep and sharing Gouda's last name...

Potatoes, pet rocks and candy.
Time to watch it in its entirity again. Just for you puffin!
As an enjoyer of Werther's originals, the only ones that suck are the sugar free one
Yeah, those are awful. Also, I‘m still grumpy they changed their name from „Werthers Echte“. I still call them that. =D
Werther's are great!
These campaign stories are just the best
I’m so glad I found this channel because now I can finally listen to Ben’s wererat voice and can die happy
