In my opinion, real chroming experience shows only on chromed exhausts. If the job lasts longer than a thousand km without turning purple, it is pretty good. If it comes to a two-stroke high performance exhaust on a Lambretta GP 200 scooter with a full blown TS1, only british chrome could do a satisfying job back in the good old days. Chroming regulations make a decent coating almost unaccomplishable certainly in Europe. Can a real heat resistant job be achieved in the US nowadays?
It can, but (mostly due to the regulations you mentioned) it is time consuming and prohibitively expensive for most. Most go with any of the new gen hi-temp coatings, which look fantastic, are absurdly durable, and don't force you to sell your kids to get 'em done. 😏 I'm sure almost all of them are available... especially in your neck of the woods. 🇬🇧 Hope that helps!
