All I wanted to see was the Mirage, Man I wanted one of these so badly when I was a kid. Manta also made another kit called the Coyote that was featured in the tv show Hardcastle and McCormick. I Lusted for either car as well as some other kit cars of the day, ie a Ferrari 250 Daytona on a Datson 240-260 chassis.
It was only a Manta Montage for the first year of Hardcastle, then they had to replace it with a Delorean disguised to look like a Montage so Brian Keith could fit into it.
Cool Rambler. Those now gone manufacturers made some cool cars. I wish I still had my AMC Hornet wagon. Straight six. That thing was a tank. Could go anywhere in any kind of weather. Not the prettiest car. But it was well built.
@@JaredConnell Yeah, but there are thousands of those and anyone with the dough can just buy one. This was unique and not a restoration. The owner took a shell of a car and made something interesting from it in the true spirit of hot rodding.
Great car and work! The 190 was an “affordable” low maintenance 4 cylinder car for its time. They could’ve more easily put a lightweight VW/Audi 2.0T in there.
It's offensive on the senses and to anybody with a modicum of taste. Anachronistic styling never works. Some things do *not* mix. To me it's as tasteless as building a glass skyscraper next to a Gothic cathedral, dressing a 70-year old lady in teen clothes, adding rapping or techno sounds to a classic rock song or drinking expensive champagne while eating a hamburger. Above all. You *do not* "improve upon" art. The original Mercedes classics look great enough in their original style. Who in their right mind would want to "improve" upon that? But I'm glad these schizophrenic style "creations" exist. This way I know what kind of people I should avoid like the plague.
@@TheReal10bears Different bodies. Get your eyes checked. The Montage is patterned after a McLaren M6 and the Mirage is an M8. Also different chassis. Montage is on a VW floorpan with all VW powertrain. Mirage has a tube frame with a V8 engine. Only VW part is the front suspension.
@@TheReal10bears I wish I could reply with pictures like you can on Facebook so I could point out the many differences between them. As I can't, I'd ask you to look at pictures of both but I won't because your mind is made up.
Imagine classic car cruises 40 years from now, with all these boring cars we have now: ALL 4-door, 70% SUV's, hardly any convertibles, all those twin-turbo ultra quiet engines, no two-tone paint jobs. "WOW, that's a classy Hyundai SANTA FE you go there!" Hope I don't live to see it!!
An assault on the senses. What is this - the C-grade version of Pebble Beach? Here's something anybody with a modicum of taste and half a brain understands - anachronistic styling never works. That 190 SL was the cherry on top of the ice crème sundae.....well built!
Rest In Peace Ken Patton one of the organizers of this Cruise/ Show!
Really a good guy!
I just love the sound of those old heavy metal pickup hoods when they shut!!! Old school American steel baby!!!
IT'S GREAT SEEING CANADIAN CARS!!!! PLEASE KEEP FINDING THEM AND SHOWING THEM!
Too funny, I was an east coast dealer for Manta Cars back in the day... We built several Mantas and Montages in the late 70's...
Very cool!
Grateful all these shows are on here. A lot of fun!

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the Manta...Hardcastle & McCormick.
I remember that show
I also love those manta's wanted one also I just couldn't get the money together I was 18 in 1977 when I first saw this car

Beautiful Canadian car The Bricklyn !! Dave at 55.

"this is what mercedes would have done" yeah right...
dadaluma yes it was! Beautiful sports car!
@@adriantomlin2902 I doubt Mercedes would put an ls motor in it lmao. They should've put an amg v8 instead

That Mercedes makes me shudder. A crude mixture of originality and bling.

The Manta Mirage was featured in Hardcastle & McCormick known as the Coyote X
That was a Montage, not a Mirage. Totally different cars.

Jay im dreading the future car shows too.....drooling over a hyundie santa fa.....that would be sick
And the Toyota previa wins the show
Saw4/7
What was the owner of the Mercedes 190 thinking of when he put those awful wheels on that car?.......Yaaach.
Wheels are like fashion. This was shot in 2008 and they were in back then. Not so much now.
Most aftermarket wheels are horrible looking craigers being the worst in my day.
Insane looking is not a compliment. Who would want this
I would!
