It's still 50+ year old tech. People still daily 2003 vehicles even though here in PA those vehicles qualify for classic plates. Unfortunately we can't stop the endless march of time.
Honestly I usually can get it first shot and move faster without using the duckbill for the back bead. This one i failed and made me look lame but I wasn't about to rip the tire back off to use the duck bill so I just rolled with it.

Yeah it is. However rim clamp machines have been around for over 50 years.
