My friend from the Republic told me the same, the old cars insurance in Ireland are ridiculously expensive to force older cars off the road. 😡
I got rid off my Micra K11 coz it was so old some companies wouldn't insure it anymore. 😢
Nice and long video, thanks for uploading 👍

The best way I found to put the new timing belt on is to put the timing belt on the crank and the cam sprockets first and then bolt the tensioner on last. Adjust the tensioner until you see the bolt hole then fit the the new T40 torx bolt (it Just fits and make sure the t40 goes on straight to prevent cross threading it). It save you punching on getting the belt over the cam sprockets. You can also jam a 8 or 10mm socket between the crank sprocket and plastic cover to prevent the Belt from coming off the crank and I use to hold the belt on the cam sprockets with a binder clip. Either way, that's just the way I use to do it when I worked at Holden in Australia. Good work 👍

ALWAYS check how the belt spins with the covers off - i've had odd ones aka defective belts from new , 'lateral belt damage' think they call it , belts cut off center from the roll so they where wandering sideways on the pulleys ... new parts these days especially - you never know !

The main secret of these old Opels is that their parts supply closed down with the factory.
Recently scrapped a good 2015 owned from new Zafira Tourer for want of a factory replacement engine which was available for £3k, but no longer.
So around 4k lost + the cost of replacing it with a '21 Touran on PCP which will be traded in within 2 years.
    Opels are done.

I did one of these on the weekend on my old Zafira. I went through 3 new tensioners! Because try as I might, the arrow markings on each of them did not and would not shift and line up!!?? I could not get any tension in the belt at all. I've done these before many times and never had any problems.I could not figure out what the hell was going on and still don't know. I had to manually set the tensioner at its tightest point and shift the water pump around until tension became correct. Nightmare. Cheap, dodgy parts I blame as everything was spot on. ?

I thought you did the tensioner thru the wheel arch

Sorry? Can't insure it due to the cars age? WTF!! Thought we had it bad in the UK. Yikes.

Directline wouldn't insure my 2001 Micra K11 anymore couple of yrs ago. They said it was no longer listed in the cars they insure.

That's stupid! Is (for example) a ferrari f360 too old to insure?😂😂 How do they make those decisions?
