Clapton comes from the old school where you learn your craft over decades of trial and error. These artists actually play their instruments, write their own music, no lip syncing and because of those reasons they inevitably become Gods of their genre. All Hail Eric “Slow Hand” Clapton!
I think you’re all missing the point. I was in college in the 70s, so I grew up with this stuff. Who cares who was better? We had it all. Clapton, Zep, Floyd, Yes... Hell, we had Motown, folk, hard rock, metal, southern rock, singer/songwriters (Chapin, Cat Stevens) even disco and punk. Ten minute songs. Fifteen minute songs. Tull with a single song that was an entire LP (Thick as a Brick). The range of artists was astonishing. Nothing these days comes close to the eclectic styles we had back then. Such a pity.
@@alanpeterson4939 Yep you are correct sir. No one sounds like Clapton and no one sounds like Hendrix, and no one sounds like Vaughn, and no one sounds like Page, and no one sounds like Beck and no one sounds like Trucks. Do I need to say any more? I think I made my point
You write that "Clapton comes from the old school where you learn your craft over decades of trial and error" which is all true. We are talking about the 1960's. There were no personal computers, no internet, no smart phones, no 'how to play blues guitar' CDs or DVDs. Eric and a few other guitarists (e.g. Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck) living in South London, would spend hours, days, weeks, months, years listening over an over again to blues records (expensively imported from the USA) working hard to absorb and emulate what they heard.
Not completely accurate in a strict sense , but why quibble. B.B did say that hearing Peter Green play gave him chills run up his spine. He also said something to the effect of "Peter Green is a white guy playing black blues, but only nobody told him that ".
He’s a British blues genius that rocked even the deepest and dirtiest of American blues. The man is a gift to humanity, but has a triumphantly tragic story. Who's better is a stupid argument. Jimi prayed at the alter of clapton like everyone else in 67, by 69 he burned Eric off the stage, but they were great friends. Go back and look at the post jimi interviews eric did. He straight said jimi was better. And didn't feel bad, because jimi was something else entirely. Actually longer than that. Just the Yardbirds alone date to 64. As far as being the best? Well he is my all time favorite, and I've been listening to him since 1966. However, as great as he is, and he is spectacular. Jeff Beck is probably a more talented and musically astute guitarist. In the pure blues form, Peter Green is likely more skilled. In that genre and overall, Duane Allman would likely win out. Of today's players guys like John Bonamassa, Duke Robillard, Robin Ford, Walter Trout and others whose talents lay in the blues could hold their own with Eric. The big difference however is that they are all working off of and following what Eric started. And Eric himself took much from Robert Johnson, Freddie King, B.B King, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and other blues legends an dissected it added to it and made it distinctly his own. British Blues baby, pure, hardnosed, distinctive, full on electric blues and blues rock.

Gary Moore - Still got the blues You will be BLOWN AWAY. One of the best, if not THE best guitar players ever. The man went from heavy rock to blues, and made one of the best rock blues albums ever made, simply a god of guitar. Please give it a listen :).
Actually he went from Blues to hard rock and metal and then back to the Blues. He had a Blues band when he was 16 which was called Skid Row (no, not the Sebastian Bach Hair Metal band) together with Phil Lynott. He was mentored by Peter Green back then, another great guitarist who doesn't get the attention he deserves. Hardly anybody knows that there was a Fleetwood Mac with Green before the one with Stevie Nicks. Hardly anybody knows that he wrote "Back Magic Woman" - a song Santana covered and based their success on. Gary even played his Les Paul on Still Got The Blues - and devoted a whole album to Peter Green cover versions: "Blues for Greeny"
Clapton is my favorite musician, his guitar skills surpass everyone imo , love the way he feels his music. He's gave us so much, you should check his many other songs
Not the reason why he is called slow hand (it was more due to repeated times where he was changing strings on stage and the audience would clap afterwards.... This was referred to as "getting the slow hand by the audience"..... Thus the origin of the nickname given to him by his bandmate....) but yeah he can bend those strings..
I'm going to be so bold as to assert that that you need to fully put yourself in my more than capable hands when it comes to Eric Clapton - there is no one like him in American Blues-based music and I have been dedicatedly following his career from the beginning . . . and his beginning was before The Beatles. By the time Jimi Hendrix became known Clapton's (and the very 1st) supergroup, Cream, had already disbanded and Clapton was on to Blind Faith . . . and prior to Cream, which changed everything, Clapton had already established the electric guitar as the iconic instrument of Rock & Roll music in first The Yardbirds and then John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. No one has a catalog of exception music like Eric Clapton and no one, from way back at the beginning, has continued to make important, vital, and simply beautiful music like Eric Clapton. Some artists are so innovative, so gifted, that they change music; there's music before & after Benny Goodman, before & after Bing Crosby, before & after Elvis, before & after The Beatles - Clapton must be counted in that pantheon . . . everyone who plays electric guitar plays the way Clapton laid down how it should be played (even whether they realize it or not). Carlos Santana has said that "you have to go through Eric Clapton if you play guitar", Eddie Van Halen has said that he learned how to play guitar listening to Eric Clapton records over and over again, B.B.King called him the greatest guitarist in the world, and David Crosby said "The Beatles made every kid want to go out and buy a guitar - Eric Clapton made than all want to learn how to play the guitar". Some folks only know him from 'Tears In Heaven' or 'Wonderful Tonight', perhaps 'Layla' - but those who know his career understand that he is about the most important, significant musician of his generation. And, no one can so brilliantly cover so many genres; in Cream he invented Rock music, Heavy Metal, Psychedelic Rock, Hard Rock, etc, radio, hits, Pop, and with due respect to Buddy Guy Clapton is king of the Blues, AND, Eric Clapton is the greatest Soul singer alive today. And he puts together the best bands in the business (because everybody but everybody wants to play with Eric Clapton. He's the only artist inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 3 times, and he's in The Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Check-out these few live performances and tell me I don't know what to steer you to ~ . . . if you can stay in your seat during this you will be smiling the biggest smile you've ever smiled ~ ua-cam.com/video/xMP--vtIkhc/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/YR_6JGQRDzk/v-deo.html . . . and if you think 'Old Love' was so passion-filled that it was breathtaking (and it was), wait till you see/hear this ~ ua-cam.com/video/X55nF0OqTmA/v-deo.html . . . and, wholly crap, this just isn't fair to other players ~ ua-cam.com/video/6c_yYC8k_kk/v-deo.html
By the way. I first heard Eric Clapton when I was approximately 14 years old. I am now a 57 year old woman, who loves her some rock, country and soul! Also like classical and opera, but not real fond of rap, except a few songs. Hated disco, but liked that 80's dance stuff, that got a little more risque, with the likes of Prince, and a few other's. But I usually go for the hard core metal, before anything. It all mostly depends on my mood.
Preston my friend, your journey has just begun. You must listen to Clapton and B.B. King, Riding with King album. Between this and Pink Floyd you have many great songs to discover and will not be disappointed. Props to you. Enjoy the ride!
I guess that's true..... I'm 65 and my 92 year old dad loves to listen to Clapton, always has, from Derek and the Dominos on forward only. Cream is a little to much for a guy who grew up listening to Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and big band music
There's a reason people were spraying "Clapton is god" all over the world when Clapton had his stint with John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. He's an amazing guitarist and was inducted into the Rock'n'Roll HoF three times. With Cream, the Yardbirds and as a solo artist. I personally like his playing with Cream best because he was a little bit more raw in his playing, less polished. But he has created damn great music - one thing you maybe want to check out later is his performance at MTV unplugged, where he's playing his own songs (and a few Blues classics) unplugged i.e. acoustic versions. But: In order to really appreciate is you should be familiar with the original versions because the unplugged versions sometimes sound like a totally differeng song. Layla for instance. I think The Bluesbreakers are a great starting point for your journey deeper into the Clapton Rabbit hole. Cream would be great, too. BTW the Unplugged show features "Old Love" which is a collaboration between Clapton and another Blues great: Robert Cray. Oh, and make sure to check out Clapton's album with BB King, appropriately named Riding with the King
Love ya Preston! But no, no Carlo Santana. Eric Claption. His nickname back in the. 60's &'70's was " Slow Hand". When he first started out, he was told that he'd never make it. Because his fingering on the guitar was to slow.He played with a group called Blackbirds, and then Cream. Before branching out on his own. One of his iconic songs Cocaine. I've seen him live 3 times. Once in the late '70's in the '80's and the last time about 3-4 years ago. Incredible, technically and musical. He suffers horrible stage fright. So while his music it incomparable. He doesn't interact with the crowds much. But the music, man the music more than makes up for it.

I get you are useing the fact that their last names are King to refer to them as the 3 Kings. But I would counter that with a more accurate reference to the 3 Kings from the time and place being discussed. The 3 Kings ------ Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Now there's a trio that would be hard to beat, all Yardbirds at various times. Colossal talent, incredible guitarists and a fine hand if you were playing poker!!!
My favorite guitarist of all time. This version of this solo tremendously influenced me when I was learning. The soul in is his hands. It’s impossible to replicate.

I said Eric Johnson further up. Lets compromise and request the version of It's Going Down that Vai, Satriani, and Johnson do together on the G3 tour?
And Tender Surrender
I think that might kill him lol
I just saw this and had to listen to it again. This is a true music lovers piece, This is amazing, it's hard to believe he has been around since the 60's playing and still killing it. Thanks for having this song here for me to come back and enjoy over and over.
Preston........... jazz?...... na man, Eric Clapton IS blues..... Clapton is god
This is a great example of a 12 bar slow blues progression..... in my opinion, the greatest chord progression there is...... hundreds, if not thousands of classic songs are in this progression.
It all stems from jazz bro. It's in there
@@ericrodecker8405 nope.... pure blues.
mike mclaughlin the normal 12 bar blues is 1-4-5 progression. This is A LOT different than that
@@bjaded1 lol... it's a variation of the 12 bar blues..... pick up your guitar and play a slow blues progression over this..... it follows, all but the turnaround....
My dad passed from Parkinson’s. Way too early. I love listening with you brother. ❤️❤️❤️
Preston, every musician on that stage with Clapton is a freaking legend (Nathan East, Steve Gadd, David Sanborn, etc). This Capton tour was at the height of his career, and that tour lineup was amazing.
8:36 that smile. Welcome to the Slow Hand...Mr. Eric Clapton and friends. He's been earning standing ovations for 50 years. A fkn legend. Enjoy.
Gary Moore - Still got the blues
You will be BLOWN AWAY. One of the best, if not THE best guitar players ever.
The man went from heavy rock to blues, and made one of the best rock blues albums ever made, simply a god of guitar.
Please give it a listen :).
This. All. Day. Long. Gary Fkn Moore!
Glad to see someone who loves jazz too. Yes a phenomenal performance
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed - The Allman Brothers with Eric Clapton. You'll love it!!
Clapton is my favorite musician, his guitar skills surpass everyone imo , love the way he feels his music. He's gave us so much, you should check his many other songs
Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood - Little Wing
Last and final request. Please react to steve vai - "tender surrender" "for the love of god" & "whispering a prayer". If not sorry brahhh no request.
Tender Surrender
Tender Surrender....ua-cam.com/video/Yw74sDWPH7U/v-deo.html ............. Mind blown!
For real I can’t believe he hasn’t done Steve Vai yet...!
I support these requests so much!
Definitely for the love of God.
Sorry for your lost Preston, Clapton is a guitar God
This is such a classic performance that I have never seen before and I’ve see a lot of Clapton vids! This is CHOICE Bruh!
Eric Clapton is amazing. This live performance shows that. ✌️
Smokin' a black & mild.
This is why the called him mr. Slow hand .he can bend those strings !!!
Check-out these few live performances and tell me I don't know what to steer you to ~
. . . if you can stay in your seat during this you will be smiling the biggest smile you've ever smiled ~
ua-cam.com/video/xMP--vtIkhc/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/YR_6JGQRDzk/v-deo.html
. . . and if you think 'Old Love' was so passion-filled that it was breathtaking (and it was), wait till you see/hear this ~
ua-cam.com/video/X55nF0OqTmA/v-deo.html
. . . and, wholly crap, this just isn't fair to other players ~

If you’re going down this oldie, take you on a journey road then you have to check out Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) - Brothers in Arms London 96
I've seen Eric in concert four times. The first time i the mid seventies. The most recent time was about four or five years ago. He is a legend.
react to Gary Moore - still got the blues
he also needs to do Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood - live at Mocambo
Gary Moore Dirty Fingers.....it’s so filthy!!!!
Yes. The live 2010 last consert version.
Parisian walkways
Yes, yes, yes!!💖
Eric Clapton. Blowing people's minds as long as I can remember. Amazing musician, along with those he played with. Love everything he has done.
React to Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood - live at Mocambo
Life without you! You'll just have to find a version that's not copyrighted
Please react to this SONG!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughn Little Wing, and the Jimi Hendrix version, must have in your ear drums sometime in your life.
Preston my friend, your journey has just begun. You must listen to Clapton and B.B. King, Riding with King album. Between this and Pink Floyd you have many great songs to discover and will not be disappointed. Props to you. Enjoy the ride!
I just wanted to add that you need to do longer reactions please. They are the best I have found.
Everybody's dad loved Clapton.
In fact mine introduced me to Cream and Clapton's solo stuff. I wish he had introduced me to The Bluesbreaker as well
Everybody's dad must have very smart bugman
I guess that's true..... I'm 65 and my 92 year old dad loves to listen to Clapton, always has, from Derek and the Dominos on forward only. Cream is a little to much for a guy who grew up listening to Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and big band music
Eric Clapton- Wonderful Tonight. That's my all time favorite song Ever. They call him "Slow hand"
Eric Clapton - «Tears in heaven» might be the most beautiful song ever made
And its even more beautiful live
Definitely one of the saddest. And, yes, beautiful.
Eric Clapton is an amazing guitarist!!! Saw him live in the 70s for his Slow Hand tour. Blew me away
10:43 when guitar playing gives the viewer "Stank Face."
HAA! Nice video, bro.
This song....brings back many memories of a lost love that’s still tatd. Thank you
Running on faith Unplugged by Eric Clapton
the best reaction videos on the web... thank you brother
One of the best live performances of Eric Clapton’s is Tears in Heaven. So moving.
I think you mean Yardbirds; and I think you missed out his stint with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (and the famous Beano album) before Cream.
He's been a superstar for 50 years.
Please please please react to Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yes. The 2010 last consert version.
Preston, this is the first time I've watched one of your videos, but I love what you're doing. I know there's a million reaction channels these days, but you have what most of the others don't - you're genuine, real, likable, and I'm excited to see YOUR excitement over this awesome music. I'll definitely be checking out a ton more of your videos man!
Hey preston you should check out the ALLMAN BROTHERS, GOVT MULE. OR THE TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND. ALL of this stuff is filled with amazing musicians
I really enjoy seeing the appreciation on your face listening to this great music. There are around 60 years of music by Eric Clapton to listen to.
Listen to both versions of Layla. His unplugged version is one of the greatest renditions ever. Clapton is one of the greatest musicians of all time.
What many people don't realize is part of what made Layla a great song was Duane Allman playing his wicked slide guitar on that song.
Sorry about your father.... sounds like he must have loved music as well. That's awesome...keep up the reactions. Your appreciation for music is growing and I'm proud of you for that. Great job bro.
Check out the song Layla from Eric Clapton as well
Yeah buddy Eric Clapton is a damn LEGEND bro rock/blues he kills it all
Love your channel man I'm happy your account has been growing
Yes, Standing Ovation Preston😊Anything Eric does, is Beyond Great... Listen to Journeyman, You won't Look Back...Eric Clapton was given to Us by A Higher Power to Entertain Us, and He Does that and More😊✌⚘
MORE CLAPTON!!! Do the unplugged version of Tears in Heaven or Walkin Blues!
Always been fond of bell bottom blues
Preston you have great energy man. Love hearing you talk about your pops. I’m sure it’s tough but I can sense the bond there. These reaction videos are more than just UA-cam fluff, they really touch on what connects us as people. Appreciate you bro
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues
Yes. The 2010 last consert version.
All time favorite, along with this song!!! I am completely new to the "reaction" genre. Very entertaining. Wow, thank you.
You know how good a musician is when you realize that he/she is better live than on record. Clapton is a legend.
Time for you to check out The 3 Kings:
Freddie king
BB King
Albert king
mike mclaughlin without them no Clap, no Paige, no SRV... so on and so forth
Shane Francis cause there would of been Clapton used to listen to muddy waters bobby bland howlin wolf just as much of the as kings
CLAPTON IS GOD!!
I never seen this performance, but right there with you it was phenomenal! There are so many songs we listen to and like that only just brushes the skin for sensation, but there are those that go beneath that move the soul, it is so cool that you get to experience them! *Respect to my fellow man who lost a dad*
george thorogood one bourban, one scotch, one beer
Injustice Served he would fucking love that song
I love that damn song
I think your reactions are my favorite because you feel it in your soul. Clapton or as he often to as slow hand is a guitar legend. The dude on the keys was feeling with that performance. Keep up the killer reactions.

I'm sorry about your Dad. It sounds like ya'll shared a love for good music. Those guys really got into the moment. Thanks for sharing.
You will love Stevie Ray Vaughan he will give you goosebumps ✌️
This is my absolute favorite song by Eric. We go way back. Seen him live 3 times. Perfect each time! Old School! !! He is so smooth. Liked watching you react. Awesome Song! I feel it deep.
Preston, bruh!! you need to get into some classic singer songwriters like Bruce Springsteen, Tom petty, Bryan Adams! May I recommend Springsteen’s “drive all night” since you love long, epic 8 minute tracks, lol
Great reaction! :) Love me some Clapton.
