Vale the mighty Boo! When 38SQN was at Amberley I refuelled many a Caribou. And years before when I was at RAAF Darwin. A pain to refuel but I never tired of the sound of one taking off with those old rotarty`s!
I been on this aircraft from Curtin air base in derby w.a Australia to pearce air force base in perth Australia and for my posting at ts anzac at pt person in late 1994 and half of 1995 and my last tour of duty at my home based at ts Broome w.a Australia
Very beautiful and loving aircraf.The Carriboue was first air craft of my aviation carrier,I worked on Carriboue from 1984april to dec 1986.at present I am an Air vetron leading to a peaceful life but I still remember the beginning of golden period of my life which spend along with Carriboue
Remember back in the 70s living in Mendi PNG every fortnight bringing in the groceries for the bulk store and standing behind the airstrip fence when they took off

The Beaver Twin Otter Caribou all Canadian built one of the best airplanes ever built . But non of them are being built . it's sad to see them go

C7 are the best at going slow ; landing and take/ off short!! And reverse! And st major airports, staying out of the way in fast traffic inviorments.
The closest thing I hear to these is a single seat air seeder/ fire bomber in my area. Evokes a lot of growing up memories
Will always remember them flying just above the trees around the drop zone near Richmond NSW.

I flew Caribou 152 part of a trip from RAAF Townsville to Innisfail once upon a time...
There is no better sound than the growl of R2000s!
