And with a 7th gear, it could have easily done over 250mph, the S70/2 still had plenty of power to keep pushing when the the gear box tops out. Just didn't make sense to add the extra weight and complexity when no one would realistically be going over 240mph, even on a track. TBF the Veyron took it's air brake from the McLaren F1 anyway. XJ220 is huge, heavy and was way too expensive. Brought a giant loss to Jaguar in early 90s. From 1500 placed orders only 275 were produced. Even though, the car is an icon. And was the record holder at Nurburgring. for 8 years.
A staggeringly good test report. Cars that I've grown up watching the progress and demise of but told with such purity of information. A credit to Evo. There has been a lot of talk recently about that car show, what has happened, will it come back, will it be the same. I for one don't care anymore. Since it's recent demise I've found everything and more that I want from a car show through channels like this. I can see myself watching every single one of them now. Oooh, look. F1 vs P1...
MrTheMark21 If they swapped the LP670 w a Diablo GT it would be perfect...no denying the LP670 is much faster but the GT would be much more suited for this test
The sound of that F1 when he floored it was utterly stunning through laptop speakers, I can't even come close to imagine the feeling of it in real life. What a machine.
Ik, the F40 is very cool to drive I'm sure but it looks like a kit car, not the cheap aspect, but the singleness (seen one in person) whereas the F50 looks much more exotic, imo
Zonda is the most animalistic car ever... Murcielago sounds awesome. F40 will always have a special place in the heart of every supersport cars passionate... causes chills on sight.. it doesn't even has to have the motor running.. it is the pinnacle. Sad not to see the Bugatti EB110 and Diablo in this test.

I loved this video so much❤ it brought me back to when I was a kid, when my love for cars were developing. the whole line up brought back so many good memories, such a good vibe to this video. As a kid and to this day, the Murcielago sv has a special place in my heart, always loved every aspect of that car. my top 3 in this video for performance and looks were the Murcielago sv, F1, and Zonda. absolutely in love with those 3
Such a beautiful video. The way the F40 tears down the road with the turbos fully spooled. The rev matching in the CGT. The crazy V12 howl of the Zonda. The F50's engine echoing through the farmland. So much car porn... I can hardly stand it.
Henry did a great job of narrating his feelings about each supercar, given the logistical constraints. He had probably less than 48 hours to share seven supercars with a whole editorial team and photographers, in which everyone had to have equal share of driving cars, writing notes and photographing and filming them. How could he possibly have jumped out and documented each one from the cockpit? Getting seven cars of this calibre together - with the generosity of their owners, since none of them are publicly for sale new any more - must have been a logistical nightmare. Give credit where it's due and be thankful that this test ever existed in the first place.

XJ220 is huge, heavy and was way too expensive. Brought a giant loss to Jaguar in early 90s. From 1500 placed orders only 275 were produced. Even though, the car is an icon. And was the record holder at Nurburgring. for 8 years.
***** Over-promise, under-deliver.
Holy smokes, what a combination of cars. I wouldn't know which car to choose. Besides the Lamborghini. They shoul have taken the Diablo instead.
How can someone dislike video like this? Those cars literally explain why do we love cars. The desire, savageness. Absolutely amazing
Oooh, look. F1 vs P1...
F40 is a beauty that makes you call her turbo lag Amazing.
Am I the only one who thinks the f50 looks better than the f40??
not alone, i think the f50 looks great :D
+Saif A : Almost
Saif A so much sexier than the f40
And sounds likes a 90s ferrari v12 f1 car
Absolutely not. The F50 looks luxurious from the outside
I think the Lambo Diablo cold fit in the test here.
The Diablo is slow and overweight compared to these two.
MrTheMark21 If they swapped the LP670 w a Diablo GT it would be perfect...no denying the LP670 is much faster but the GT would be much more suited for this test
irony because the se30 jota is still faster than the lp670-4 sv
just seeing photos of the se30 jota makes me hard. tmi but it would be wrong if it didnt. in my opinion the most beautiful lamborghini ever produced
MrTheMark21 diablo slow? Are u serious? And im a f40 mclaren f1 huge fan.. but diablo was definitely fast too
You could really see the emotion coming through towards the end on the F1. Kudos for keeping it together mate. You're stronger than I!
The sound of that F1 when he floored it was utterly stunning through laptop speakers, I can't even come close to imagine the feeling of it in real life. What a machine.
u sit in the same car all the time?
Ozilus weird he sits in the F1 and talks about other cars...
Joachim Rydelius its bothering me way more than it should
ill never understand why they say the f50 isn't beautiful as well.... disagreeeee
I agree.. it looks just glorious.
+RZFitnessTV : Not beautiful
Ik, the F40 is very cool to drive I'm sure but it looks like a kit car, not the cheap aspect, but the singleness (seen one in person) whereas the F50 looks much more exotic, imo
Whole this time he is driving a same car,he doesnt change it!
who would want to get out of the McLaren F1?
highflyer4 Well i know that, but he tells the feel of driving of another car in a McLaren F1,Yes,even I wouldn´t get out of McLaren F1 :´D
***** I know, that´s what I want to say,But that is why I like Top Gear more than this :)
highflyer4 i would easily get out of the mclaren
boobez89 Just wait till the fuel tank is empty, it won't take much.
I can watch this episode thousand times in a row! It deserves many million watches!!
Must have watched this ten times since it was published. Always have a smile on my face at the end. This is why we love cars.
Talking about screaming CGT engine, while sitting in F1. Why.
Wonderful, emotive review. Bittersweet, too (emphasized by the stirring soundtrack). End of an era.
I just had to pause the video for a few seconds and say what a wonerful job Evo.
That Carrera GT has aged so gracefully. It looks like it could pass as a decade old car.
The Pagani to me is the masterpiece.
In what way?
***** one man creation
Diego Lafuente Mclaren F1 was Gordan Murray Creation.
Diego Lafuente One man design, most of the parts come from else where.
Alex Kain The Pagani has a Mercedes AMG engine.
Why was the Porsche 959 not included in this test?
true I was wondering the same...
The car almost drives itself with all that unnecessary extra tech on it
+Robert Niemeyer I guess it's not as "analog" as others of the time. hmmmm "F40"
It's a "technology" super car which is more of a GT type one. Where as the others are lightweight and very driver focused, raw
I'm crying right now...
Did you stub your toe? Really hard?
Watching this in 1080p is glorious! Interesting angles and natural light. Kudos to the people behind the camera work.
i love that the carrera gt is there, but i really miss the Ruf CTR in this test, as well as the Jaguar XJ220. both cars that were around the performancefigure of the f40 and f1.
I would like to see Mazda making a mid-engined supercar. Light, simple, rotary engine and manual gearbox
Like a road-going 787B.. would be sick af.
Considering the price differences I think I'd choose a CGT.
***** CGT is my favorite supercar ever that V10 is just so epic, but that car is fatal.
ʝ αℊ⋒αr123987ჯ Because one famous idiot died in one?
Christian Nielsen There were several fatal accidents. It supposedly drives much better with newer generation tires though.
Christian Nielsen ''famous idiot'' wow, what an idiot you are. BTW he wasn't the guy driving the car.
1001speedster
You're the idiot, did I write "he died driving one". No I didn't, I said because one famous idiot died IN one.
F1 all the way for me! I can't wait to see how the the Austin Martin Valkyrie and the Gordon Murray T50 compare.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this test and in 1080p. I watch this probably once every other month.
I loved this video so much❤ it brought me back to when I was a kid, when my love for cars were developing. the whole line up brought back so many good memories, such a good vibe to this video. As a kid and to this day, the Murcielago sv has a special place in my heart, always loved every aspect of that car. my top 3 in this video for performance and looks were the Murcielago sv, F1, and Zonda. absolutely in love with those 3
McLaren F1 all the way for me
This would be by far the worst execution of automotive journalism of such a legendary group of cars.
T50 is the new analog🔥
