Hello! A lot of people have been loving the dog, and I appreciate it! However I’ll answer the question on what happened to the dog after being released. Despite how it probably seems, the husband didn’t kill the dog, but more so he didn’t make an effort to look for them. I didn’t think too beyond how the dog passed away, but I’d say the closest answer is that Mother Nature took its course. It could have been starvation, a failure to cross the river, or something. Although he was angered by them both escaping, he wasn’t willing to attack his dog. Luanne on the other hand was different, which would also explain why he stopped hitting her when the dog intervened. But that’s just my own take on it, anyone can interpret it however the please! But this is mainly for those wondering about it! Again, thank you for watching and hopefully enjoying this animatic!
I always felt there was an innate human fear that was associated with a dog growling at a person, so that's why I thought he stopped when the lab defended Luanne. In addition, it's said that some pets are so loyal to their owners that if their owner dies, then in this case the dog, heartbroken, also "dies" of a broken heart. Luanne was obviously loyal to Labby because she stayed behind with him, like Labby was the one thing tying her there. In addition, lab retrievers are bred to BE loyal, which is why there is no fear in them if they are protecting their owners. It could just simply be that Labby was so loyal to Luanne that he followed her into death.
@@AmyoftheFlowerField that is so sad but I really like your explanation I’ve never had a dog but I would hate to make a dog suffer even if it granted me freedom
I mean... the dog is with luanne at the end... I think he was scared of the dog, but then... well, yeah.... a woman beating bastard probably doesn't just beat women.
I like to believe that Luanne didn't drown, but her husband beat her so much when he found her after escaping that he killed her. He didn't want to tell people that he killed her so he threw her back into the water and told everyone who asked what happened to her that she drowned herself.
Yeah, that's what I think too. He killed her, threw her in the water, and waited like a day or two before declaring her "missing". Then idk, the body washed up or they dragged the bog or whatever, but yeah.
Personally I feel like there would have been more implications for that to have been what happened, also it would make sense that she would rather drown herself since based on how the Bastard acts he would have probably beat and abused her terribly to the point of near death or death so she took her own life instead.
(Sorry I know this comment is old but I’d like to add this) “He beat her there” could have a double meaning, he got their before her and also further abused her, ultimately causing her death
A little detail in this song I love - The implication is that her own bastard isn't the only man Luanne takes down. The final verse references multiple people - "So the bastards will never sleep again" and "She drags their souls down to hell" - with that leading to the idea of Luanne avenging not only herself, but other abuse victims. She's chained to the plane of life itself, and God (loving her) is letting her be the vessel of freedom for others. Hence, a lasting Caution to men to not act like that, lest Luanne appear at their side next.
Im throwing my DnD party into a mission where they investigate the disappearance of multiple people, 3 men and 1 woman. Obviously based on this story, the final "boss" is Luanne and they can choose to not kill her because her "victims" are all men who abuse their wives.
I think it was meant to be like she bring both of their souls down to hell since in the Bible suicide is a sin, but since god loves her he gave her the chance to settle her score
@@taylorrrrrrhe didn't want to die she wanted freedom it says that she was beat there which could have he killed her and thinks he very much incorrect . She is a promise of hope for others that will punish will happen to the abusive "bastards" and the Bible say an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth it what ever is done to him they're allowed to do it to you
In the other animatics I've seen Luanne is a lot more emotional and sadistic at times. In this version the dog plays a role and a great role at that. Luanne is seen to be a little more headstrong and stronger willed than in other versions. She screams at her husband while she enacts her revenge and is not happy in the end but she doesn't feel guilty either. It's hard to feel empathy for those who have harmed you and she demonstrates her hatred for him pretty well. Amazing all around and love the idea of using the dog
Thank you! Thats the general idea. I myself am a very empathetic person, but even I know that in some cases you can’t just accept the things that happened. At least not completely. There is always needs to be a point where you need to do something about it, or nothing else will change. I’m glad that point got across to you!
Exactly, especially the hatred detail since I haven't been through that fortunately. I imagine i would eventually have a growing hatred for him being such a psychopath.
Didn't look at this for how many months and decided to revisit the song and animatic and uh...I've never had a comment wig over 100 likes before so thanks y'all!
I adore the fact that the dog continuously helped Luanne, be it protecting her, serving as a decoy or helping her get revenge afterwards, I love that you included the dog more than in just one frame
okay, so I realized it's kind of weird to only write about the dog like it's the only good thing about this animatic. I love the drowning frames, there's honestly something so horrifying about her hair flowing back to the surface. I love the style of the animation, I love the design of Luanne. I love the frame 'the shine around her eyes', how her face is cracked in the middle, it shows us just how much the bastard broke her. I love her dreaming sequence. Words cannot express the many thing that I find amazing about this animatic, you did such a great job.
I like to think she didn't kill him but made his life a living hell (drag their souls down to hell) to the point of wanting to die. She got reprieve but he doesn't deserve that kind of peace. Some ppl think dying is the ultimate punishment but I think there's a lot in life that could make someone wish they were dead. (fate worse than death)
I thought she haunted him, as in only he could see and hear her, making everyone think he was insane and she was waiting for him to die so she could drag him down to hell like she did with the other souls since God loved Luanne and gave her that job
I think that’s the symbolism of the chains that bind her spirit. He kept her bound to him in life, and she returns the favor by never giving him a moments reprieve as a spirit.
When she was running in the forest and the singer was mentioning about how she dreamed of living on the coast, the thought immediately hit me and I was like "What if she's dead?" and then when it got to the part where she drowned I just sat there for a moment. I felt like crying, but I didn't.
The lyrics make it sound like he convinced himself that she drowned on her own and that he didn't kill her, but a couple lyrics after it hints at him doing just that.
Theres something so powerful about the man saying how no one ever loved her, and as a spirit her actions make it seem like shes going to hell with him, but with that final line "God loves Luanne, praise be Amen" its just...wow. This song is great and the animatic makes it even better
Yes, it was hard for me to hear in the culmination but that line is a crucial rebuke of her husband’s bravado. Glad you caught it too, it’s a real interesting note to strike in the middle of that probably-revenge (?) section. Adds a bit of sympathy and warmth to the usual vengeful spirit thing.
I showed this song to my mom just because I thought she'd like the musical. She started crying and I wondered why. She was Luanne. I never knew my biological dad just my adoptive father. Well my bio dad was the bastard. This was my mom's life and it freaks me out hearing this song. I can't decide if I hate or love the fact the girl in this particular animatic looks just like a younger version of my mom. She's one of the strongest people I know and I feel horrible that I was product of their relationship
Your mom is awesome, it's not easy to leave such relationships and it's hard to go past the thoughts of "was it my fault? was it me?", it can easily spiral into some deep self-hatred, but she went past that, and that's something worthy of praise. Now, Jacky, I understand the guilt one can feel for something that was not done by oneself, but please remember you're not responsible for the relationship they had, it was not your fault, it was not because of you, please, don't feel guilty for it, you're not the product of a horrible relationship, you're the proof, the proof of your mother's bravery.
I really appreciate that even though this is stylized she actually looks like an adult. I feel like so many of these animatics infantilize Luanne even though she's clearly a grown ass woman.
I feel a lot of the people who make these animatics are younger (teenagers-college age), and have more experience drawing younger faces/bodies. That being said, the depiction here is definitely a welcome change.
I don't think that's what they're trying to do? people have different art styles and for some it's hard to draw older looking people, and since they made the animatic for fun to begin with why should they care?
i love that you established luanne's abuser yanking her hair before the bog scene so it means that much more when it happens. i teared up at the dog protecting luanne, and again at her colorful fantasy of freedom. great work.
A Few Things 1. That is a good boy 2. Like a lot of other people I like the dream sequence she has and the reveal of the eyes 3. The way you draw the dress is really good, especially with the complicated shape. Same with fingers and hands. 4. That is a good boy 5. I like the emphasis on her screaming, a lot of Leave Luanne animatics put a lot of emphasis on her dragging her husband down to hell but none I've seen so far mention this as part of the ghost story Luanne is. Luanne reminds me of La Llorona as the fact of dragging to hell or killing you isn't what distinguishes La Llorona from any spooky folktale, her being a weeping woman is. For La Llorona the importance of her cries is in her name, for Luanne it's the crescendo that plays each time her breath and screaming is mentioned. 6. That is the BEST BOY
The saddest part of this song is that the second half is all fiction. The Luannes of the world never get their revenge and their husbands never get their comeuppance
And he starts screaming; “Leave Luanne! Hell sent you back here for more. Cause ain’t no one ever loved you.” Luanne! She cries her miserable wail, so the bastards will never sleep again. No will reprieve Luanne, she brings their souls down to hell. Caution to the cruelest of men! God loves Luanne! Praise be, Amen chills from those lines ngl
I always interpret this song as luanne saves is the guardian angel for all people who were abused and sends the abusers down to hell herself in the most painful way possible.
Luanne had a heart bigger than this world deserved. She could have ran with the dog without letting him know, or she could have taken the knife and ended the bastard. But she didn’t want to kill him and she didn’t want to separate him from his dog. In the end she dies by caring to much
I took it as both his actual dog escaped and that she was the dog (referring to the cuss word) and she was finally free from his abuse, weather that be from escaping and starting a new life or drowning.😢😭
Okay things i love about this: > its the whole damn song, ITS THE WHOLE SONG, YOU ARE A MADMAN AND I AM SO GLAD > the dog has a HUGE role in this, which is so awesome and i wish i thought about it (good for the dog.) > the reveal of the bastard's eyes when he yanks luanne's head, UGHHHH > the DREAM SEQUENCE?? The pink dress??? Oh my god, i adored it > luanne burned the bastards entire house down, GOOD FOR HER When I rewatch, I might add some more, but thanks for making an animatic of my FAVORITE 35MM song. ❤️❤️
Beauty!! I love that the dog is a part of this because I never thought that the "growling" part could be the dog and that the dog was on Luanne's side. I love the frames with the husband waking up in the boiling bed!
My middle school had a substitute teacher, mrs tweedy who, if we were well behaved and did our work, would tell us a scary story. They were almost all traditional folktales that I’d read before but they way she’d tell them was so creepy and immersive, it felt like I was always hearing them door the first time. My point is that this feels just like one of her stories.
I just love how thd dog protects her. It's real love and affection, sometimes the animal can be better than the man... It's so sad I cry everytime I see the dog saving her in this video. Thanks for this emotion Quick story time My old dog was one time scolded by my mother, I took her defence because she is an old dog so shouting doesn't mean anything it only makes her more sad. The next day my mom shouted at me and my doggo came and stayed by mi side while she shouted. (AND NOW I'M CRYING) Thanks for listening
OMIGOODNESS THIS IS SO AMAZING!!! ALSO THE DOG'S ROLE IN THIS AND LUANNE STARING AT HIL THROUGH THE WINDOW? BEAUTIFUL. AND AT 6:56 AND THE FEW FRAMES THAT FOLLOW THEY'RE SO BEAUTIFUL JGJDJGVGJFBFJC
i like the idea that luanne is a spirit of justice that with her dog follows the trail of unpunished DAs to cause there deaths. Not as she is angry and sadistic but as someone who knows that the true harm they caused lead to the victims her dog guided to the afterlife must be punished
Anyone else notice the the double entendre of the line "who beat you there"? Also I find it interesting the husband thinks she was sent from hell to be tortured by him in death and then just gets completely wrecked because it's very clear that Luanne was a devout Christian and innocent. "Like seriously man? You think that's where she went? Oh no you have a front row seat to torture town, idiot! Karma!" Was along my train thought.
LYRICS: Luanne's fat lip is drying, The bastard's bacon frying, The shiner on her eye's gone bust and bleeding. He shouts, "Girl, set the table!" But he knows she ain't able. Her arm's done broke, Hung limp like yolk, And softly she's repeating... "Leave, Luanne. Why don't you march out that door? Southern woman, he ain't no good to you. Leave, Luanne. Louisiana wants war, But it's you dying on her ruby plains." And yet, loyal Luanne remains. Ever since he got him laid off, His sanity's just made off. No, he was never nice, but now he's cruel. He rapes her, and he beats her, She don't 'fess how he treats her, 'Cause a Bible verse Says it won't get worse, And she won't be a fool. "You won't never leave, Luanne, 'Cause if you walk out that door His truck will be gunning for you. No, you won't leave, Luanne, Or he'll give you 'What for?' You got heart where you should have had brains." And so, loyal Luanne remains. Someone's howling, Screams like sighing with battered breath Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. But months of such conditions Turn laymen to logicians And tonight the bastard's sleeping like a log. So she plucks the kitchen cleaver, Creeps up toward his roped-up lab retriever, And she cuts the rope, And hope on hope, She starts to shout, "Your dog's got out!" She's got her chance. With no back glance She runs out to the bog, Screaming, screaming: "Leave, Luanne!" "Leave, Luanne. You've got a life left to live In a house hanging off the Golden Coast! Leave, Luanne. You won't forget nor forgive, " And she don't feel the stings, the rips, and scrapes As finally Luanne escapes. Swim, Luanne! Swim, Luanne! And in the swamp of beeches, Oh, as the preacher preaches, As the light In the night Holds through the marsh and brushes As the blood inside you rushes Left and right, Hold on tight- -Until you reach the bank And you crawl onto the bank, 'Til you feel a little yank on your hair And, stricken, stare at the bastard Who beat you there. The bastard lies in bed now, Half-sad his wife is dead now. She drowned herself in a swamp in wild despair. He thinks he used to love her, But push it came to shove her, A wife disposed, A life case closed, And no one seems to care, To grieve Luanne. Now no one's on his shoulder, But his mattress don't feel colder, And in fact, it's hellish hot, and the air is dank and steaming. Yet his body starts to shiver When the window cracks a sliver And a fiery fog From the miry bog Pours in the room In a sticky gloom And there the man Sees dead Luanne. He's terrified, But he keeps his pride, 'Cause he knows that he ain't dreaming. And he starts screaming, "Leave, Luanne. Hell sent you back here for more, 'Cause ain't no one ever loved you." But said Luanne, "I've come to settle a score, " And she shows him her feet are bound in chains. And loyal Luanne remains And remains And remains And remains! Someone's howling, Screams like sighing With battered breath. Grating, growling, Never dying In a fate worse than death. Luanne, She cries her miserable wail So the bastards will never sleep again! No, no reprieve, Luanne, She brings their souls down to hell, A caution to the cruelest of men: God loves Luanne! Praised be! Amen!
My town actually has a legend REALLY Similar to ‘leave Luanne”, except the legend is called “Sarah Warren” (Warren is a common name, so it’s hard to pin which Warren clan Sarah was from) Sarah married a Warren man, the story says either Josiah or Abe (different people use different names, I personally believe it was the third option of Daniel), but regardless of version the story makes sure you know that the Warren man was a BAD GUY. Gambled, drank, beat Sarah, raped her, and beat their children as well. Basically the worst dude u could ever be married to. Well… Sarah snapped. She poisoned the man, killed the children and then ran into the corn fields around their house once she regained her mind and realized she had killed her children (not too hung up about her husband, but she loved the kids so she was a bit sad about that). The man’s brother or cousin (story differs, name is never said) then curses Sarah’s grave and doesn’t give her a Christian burial for her actions. Then Sarah’s ghost haunts her old home and drags any abusive husband to Hell to suffer alongside her husband. The story never really says how she died, but it implies pretty heavily that the brother or cousin killed her
I love how throughout the animatic when hair starts to slowly fall down and personally I think that represents how she is finally like I need to leave and how the abuse finally just cracks her and how she has to leave. I also thinks it represents kind of a freedom, like when her hair was in the bun it was when his controlling was at its best but in the low pony she was starting to think about leaving more, then when her hair was down she finally left. I just love that representation❤️
It’s so clever and heartbreaking that Luanne had a moment of hope. She visualized a new life, (possibly with a new partner who treats her right) IT WAS EVEN IN COLOR, BUT SHE NEVER GOT IT!! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!!
I always love finding leave Luanne automatics, they are such a treat and yours has its on unique flavor from to it the way Luanne acted the way you incorporated the dog more, it was exquisite
2:47 When Luanne runs out to the bog and the part where the music swells "LEAVE LUANE!!!" it literally makes me cry every single time. So much raw emotion and pain that's so expressionistic and amazing to capture, especially in an animatic! Well done :')
Ive seen animatics of this before but oh my god the switch to colour then back to dark actually got me. This is my favourite damn animatic. Absolutely stunning!!
1:44 FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I cannot tell you how many times I stayed with my abusive mum because I was afraid what she would do to the animals but im out now and she hasn't done anything
tHE FACT THAT THERE ISNT MUCH ANIMATION OF THESE SONGS IS A CRIMEEE BECAUSE ALL OF THE SONGS R SO GOOD Personally this one is my favorite and next would be sarah berry
My headcanon is that this song was written by her family to honor her memory, and a few days after she died, the bastard’s house burned down, and he died. The song was passed down and was edited to make it feel like Luanne got her revenge, for that’s how they saw her, and it’s been decades since she died, her family perform this song sometimes, and it gets spread out to others to honor her. In the ruins of the house, a memorial dedicated to Luanne and the dog. (The bastard has a grave miles away from it)
I love that you included the dog like this! And that brief sequence of warm colors really drove this home for me! New favorite Leave Luanne animatic for sure!
I love how we don’t see the bastards eyes shortly after Luanne’s death when he yanks on her hair at the bog I feel like it means something but I don’t know what
Holy crap. I love this so much! I mean, the sheer dedication it takes to make a seven-minute animatic is insane. Plus, I love your art style, and you portrayed Luanne’s story in such an amazing way. I especially loved his the dog was incorporated in so many parts of the animatic. I just can’t explain how amazing it is! You’ve just earned yourself a new subscriber.
CAN WE APPRECIATE THIS MASTERPICE??? I'm excited because i can't find a lot edits for leave Luanne. I usually find more for tbosb (the ballad of Sara Berry) which also is a spectacular song but i really wanted to see Luanne's story from other prespective and this is spectacular. I never imagined that the dog can play a so important role ( the dog is arleady important bc he is the reason Luanne escaped.) But the part where Luanne saw how her life will be if the bastard wouldn't catch her make me really emotional because she deserved better! The whole animatic made me scream the lyrics because i was so enthousiastic to see the end. Luanne watch the bastard burn with the dog besides her and how the dog go to Luanne at the end is so savage! Pls never stop making animatics because you have a unique way to show us the story, loved your artstyle! To everyone here if you are in Luanne's place pls escape as fast as you can!!! Have a nice day, sorry for my English and greetings from Greece!
Honestly while making this I was lip-syncing so I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! 35MM does some amazing stuff, and though not as common as Sara Berry, this song has a powerful message or at least a powerful story. Happy you enjoyed it, and I hope you have a lovely day as well !
The dog saves her and that shows how much dogs can see body language and how much they care for owners. People need to understand that. And just hope luanne has a great life in heaven ❤❤
i just wanna say that this is absolutely amazing and i love how you only showed the bastard's face when it was like, a key moment for his facial expression to be shown!! like, it really makes the moments where you can see his eyes hit harder and i love how you did that!!!
That is the best Leave Luanne animatic I've seen so far,😃😃😃😃😃 I wonder if you were thinking of doing the ballad of Sarah berry after this one.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😏😏😏😏😏♡♡♡♡♡☆☆☆☆☆
As much as the other animations are amazing, this one really takes top place. I love how you really brought the dog along, and how you portrayed her emotions so well! Oh my goodness this made me cry but it’s so lovely. Amazing job!
This was incredible and I loved the connection to the dog. I never thought about the lyrics surrounding growling implying the fog defending luanne that was such an awesome inclusion and interpretation
I really like how you incorporated the dog into more parts of the story and wow, the chill I got seeing the Bastard smile when he caught her on the riverbank😨. Like I got goosebumps. Great stuff
Does anybody else think it's bullshit that Luanne "drowned herself"? I've heard that it's pretty hard to drown yourself, so what I think happened was her husband was so pissed with Luanne that he was like "If you love that bog so much, why don't you stay there?!" as he drowns her himself.
I love how when she finally leaves the strand that's always in her face no longer is. It's even in color as apposed to the black and white she ajusted to when living with her husband. It's nice way to show that she becomes happier and even more confident in herself.
I saw this months ago, and it stuck in my head. I think about a month ago I tried to find it again. I searched everything I could think of relating to the video. I'm so thankful I found it again. It's beautiful and left a huge impact.
This is by far the best 35mm animatic I’ve seen. I especially love that the dog has an increased role, and you really have Luanne a lot of character. Amazing job!
Watching this...it got me thinking and feeling that the "bastard husband" killed her and used her suicide to cover up his crimes...and Luanne "settled her score" and was spared as "God loves Luanne." Either way, this hits me as what my life could've been if I didn't leave my ex fiancé
I think it was her final act of defiance. If I’m gonna die it won’t be because you got the satisfaction of killing me. A final FUCK YOU. But also, she truly felt she had no way to escape. How it says in verse 2 that even if she ran, he’d be in his truck hunting her back down. And then in 3 it seems like she saw herself swimming away just to reach the other side of the bank and he’s there waiting for her. Like she feels no escape would’ve worked. Idk, just a different perspective. I see yours too though.
I ADORE this song. At the start “leave Luanne” is good for her but the last one at the end would be good for him and “loyal Luanne remains” is the exact opposite throughout the song showing just how the turns have tabeled
Gatdamn, I stumbled across this at 1 in the damn morning. And it made me burst into tears, so thanks for the nightmare call. I love it, subscribing immediately, take my damn soul too. (not like I got one) Edit:You deserve so much more and I plan to attempt to give you just that. Give me time, and I assure you of it.
I must say I never given much thought to the dog, and kinda assumed it was always on the husband's side. So the addition of him as an ally to Luanne in life and death really struck a cord with me. I figured the husband didn't kill him (probably cared for him more than he did for Luanne), but thank you for clarifying. When I envisioned the song, I always pictured the swimming part in the moment (just saw her swimming, maybe taking in the nature around her), but I like your take of her daydreaming of dancing and meeting a new (better) man and just being happy and joyful.
I love what you did with the dog!! As someone working on choreography for this song as a performance piece, I’ve been watching a lot a these and none have had the dog like yours!
I must admit, this has to be one of the best Animatics I've seen done on this song yet! The facial expressions are incredibly well done! not to mention the fact that I had a much easier time understanding the story-telling aspect of the song though the choice of action and the better incision of the dog, lovely work!
i have a small head cannon about this animatic. its that the man she dances with when shes free(the only person we see besides the husband and her and the dog) is her husband before he showed his true colors, which would explain why he didnt have eyes. because his true colors werent shown yet and we only see his eyes after she escapes and he catches her.
I really love some of the shots you pulled off here, particularly in that perspective flip when Luanne's spirit reappears! I'd also assumed that the dog coming back symbolized the passage of time, as in she kept him chained there "a dog's age", just as she had been trapped in that house with her abuser for far too long.

The music too is very uplifting at this part.
At the very least he won’t hurt the dog.

in this version of the song: ua-cam.com/video/ic_fmv0pnWg/v-deo.html the singer says “they say she drowned herself”
Or he drowned her
(Sorry I know this comment is old but I’d like to add this) “He beat her there” could have a double meaning, he got their before her and also further abused her, ultimately causing her death
A little detail in this song I love -
The implication is that her own bastard isn't the only man Luanne takes down.

Oh man I haven't checked on this comment in a while thanks guys!
Same! Both times the dog showed up I was just like "what a good boy".
@@wren7888 I think you can resent someone but still pity them in the end. Not quite turning the other cheek but ending with a pained expression.

These animatics really needed to give the dog more screentime, thank you.

I think he didnt die but she literally dragged him to hell alive
I thought she haunted him, as in only he could see and hear her, making everyone think he was insane and she was waiting for him to die so she could drag him down to hell like she did with the other souls since God loved Luanne and gave her that job
i think she goes to heaven bc the chains are holding her to earth
after he goes to hell, she have no binds and therefore can ascend to heaven
@@TonyToed no I think once she left marriage she went to hell or something
Who knows, bible, never read it
I think that’s the symbolism of the chains that bind her spirit.
I think the husband drowned her after he finds her on the bank
@@journey9641 don’t worry I’m thinking the same thing with you
The lyrics make it sound like he convinced himself that she drowned on her own and that he didn't kill her, but a couple lyrics after it hints at him doing just that.
@@journey9641 You'd be correct
Theres something so powerful about the man saying how no one ever loved her, and as a spirit her actions make it seem like shes going to hell with him, but with that final line "God loves Luanne, praise be Amen" its just...wow. This song is great and the animatic makes it even better
Yes, it was hard for me to hear in the culmination but that line is a crucial rebuke of her husband’s bravado. Glad you caught it too, it’s a real interesting note to strike in the middle of that probably-revenge (?) section. Adds a bit of sympathy and warmth to the usual vengeful spirit thing.
I just realized... If the dog is with Luanne... ARE YOU TELLING ME HE KILLED THE DOG TOO???
Or the poor thing died from starvation.

Oh no why would you show her imagined freedom in the bog my poor heart
I showed this song to my mom just because I thought she'd like the musical. She started crying and I wondered why. She was Luanne. I never knew my biological dad just my adoptive father. Well my bio dad was the bastard. This was my mom's life and it freaks me out hearing this song. I can't decide if I hate or love the fact the girl in this particular animatic looks just like a younger version of my mom. She's one of the strongest people I know and I feel horrible that I was product of their relationship
i am happy she managed to move on your mom is awesome
I pray for the very best!
I'm glad your mom managed to escape, I wish her the best in life
Oh fudge. Wish your mother, you, and your adoptive father the best.
I don't think that's what they're trying to do? people have different art styles and for some it's hard to draw older looking people, and since they made the animatic for fun to begin with why should they care?
i love that you established luanne's abuser yanking her hair before the bog scene so it means that much more when it happens. i teared up at the dog protecting luanne, and again at her colorful fantasy of freedom. great work.
Burns his house down with him still in it.
Good for her😗💅
A Few Things
1. That is a good boy
2. Like a lot of other people I like the dream sequence she has and the reveal of the eyes
3. The way you draw the dress is really good, especially with the complicated shape. Same with fingers and hands.
4. That is a good boy
Thats a good boi.
He’s a very good boi
Yeah this animatic definitely displays and shows more of the ghostly Louisiana vibes
The saddest part of this song is that the second half is all fiction. The Luannes of the world never get their revenge and their husbands never get their comeuppance
Well, we don't know what happens after death, so maybe the bastards suffer somewhere, somehow, after dying
And he starts screaming; “Leave Luanne! Hell sent you back here for more. Cause ain’t no one ever loved you.”
Luanne! She cries her miserable wail, so the bastards will never sleep again. No will reprieve Luanne, she brings their souls down to hell. Caution to the cruelest of men!
God loves Luanne! Praise be, Amen
chills from those lines ngl
She was sloppy! She shouldve run without saying shit then he wouldnt have found her
@@kaiwolfie7828 then we wouldn't have a song
I always thought it said “hell since you’re back here for more”
@@religousgay9301 maybe but that's still sloppy af but that was her first time escaping and she died so I'll let it slide
5:52
I always interpret this song as luanne saves is the guardian angel for all people who were abused and sends the abusers down to hell herself in the most painful way possible.
Luanne had a heart bigger than this world deserved. She could have ran with the dog without letting him know, or she could have taken the knife and ended the bastard. But she didn’t want to kill him and she didn’t want to separate him from his dog. In the end she dies by caring to much
"But she had more heart than brains"~
I took it as both his actual dog escaped and that she was the dog (referring to the cuss word) and she was finally free from his abuse, weather that be from escaping and starting a new life or drowning.😢😭
THE DOGGO IS A GOOD BOI WE STAN THE DOGGO HERE
Okay things i love about this:
> its the whole damn song, ITS THE WHOLE SONG, YOU ARE A MADMAN AND I AM SO GLAD
> the dog has a HUGE role in this, which is so awesome and i wish i thought about it (good for the dog.)
> the reveal of the bastard's eyes when he yanks luanne's head, UGHHHH
> the DREAM SEQUENCE?? The pink dress??? Oh my god, i adored it
> luanne burned the bastards entire house down, GOOD FOR HER
When I rewatch, I might add some more, but thanks for making an animatic of my FAVORITE 35MM song. ❤️❤️
Thank you! I tried giving the animatic a lot of little scenes that add some personality to it, so glad you like em!
Oh gosh I thought he was gunna shoot the dog after it stood up for her and I was NOT gunna be able to handle that
I love how early on you introduced the dog and how you kept him around the whole time. I’ve never seen that done before.
I just love how thd dog protects her. It's real love and affection, sometimes the animal can be better than the man...
It's so sad I cry everytime I see the dog saving her in this video. Thanks for this emotion
Quick story time
My old dog was one time scolded by my mother, I took her defence because she is an old dog so shouting doesn't mean anything it only makes her more sad.
The next day my mom shouted at me and my doggo came and stayed by mi side while she shouted.
(AND NOW I'M CRYING) Thanks for listening
That smile he gave her before killing her sent a chill up my spine.

i like the idea that luanne is a spirit of justice that with her dog follows the trail of unpunished DAs to cause there deaths. Not as she is angry and sadistic but as someone who knows that the true harm they caused lead to the victims her dog guided to the afterlife must be punished
The dog defending Luanne, yes, my heart? It’s shattered.
I got so happy when the dog joined Luanne's soul. Then I thought "Oh no".
I love how every artist has a different version of her dead self and what happens while she "stays" during the part of the song
I DIDN'T KNOW THIS SONG WAS THIS LONG THERE'S LIKE A WHOLE OTHER HALF
I love this animatic. Luanne didn't get her happy ending, but she made damn sure the bastard didn't either.
LYRICS:
Luanne's fat lip is drying,
The bastard's bacon frying,
The shiner on her eye's gone bust and bleeding.
He shouts, "Girl, set the table!"
But he knows she ain't able.
Her arm's done broke,
Hung limp like yolk,
And softly she's repeating...
"Leave, Luanne.
Why don't you march out that door?
Southern woman, he ain't no good to you.
Leave, Luanne.
Louisiana wants war,
But it's you dying on her ruby plains."
And yet, loyal Luanne remains.
Ever since he got him laid off,
His sanity's just made off.
No, he was never nice, but now he's cruel.
He rapes her, and he beats her,
She don't 'fess how he treats her,
'Cause a Bible verse
Says it won't get worse,
And she won't be a fool.
"You won't never leave, Luanne,
'Cause if you walk out that door
His truck will be gunning for you.
No, you won't leave, Luanne,
Or he'll give you 'What for?'
You got heart where you should have had brains."
And so, loyal Luanne remains.
Someone's howling,
Screams like sighing with battered breath
Grating, growling,
Never dying
In a fate worse than death.
But months of such conditions
Turn laymen to logicians
And tonight the bastard's sleeping like a log.
So she plucks the kitchen cleaver,
Creeps up toward his roped-up lab retriever,
And she cuts the rope,
And hope on hope,
She starts to shout,
"Your dog's got out!"
She's got her chance.
With no back glance
She runs out to the bog,
Screaming, screaming: "Leave, Luanne!"
"Leave, Luanne.
You've got a life left to live
In a house hanging off the Golden Coast!
Leave, Luanne.
You won't forget nor forgive, "
And she don't feel the stings, the rips, and scrapes
As finally Luanne escapes.
Swim, Luanne! Swim, Luanne!
And in the swamp of beeches,
Oh, as the preacher preaches,
As the light
In the night
Holds through the marsh and brushes
As the blood inside you rushes
Left and right,
Hold on tight-
-Until you reach the bank
And you crawl onto the bank,
'Til you feel a little yank on your hair
And, stricken, stare at the bastard
Who beat you there.
The bastard lies in bed now,
Half-sad his wife is dead now.
She drowned herself in a swamp in wild despair.
He thinks he used to love her,
But push it came to shove her,
A wife disposed,
A life case closed,
And no one seems to care,
To grieve Luanne.
Now no one's on his shoulder,
But his mattress don't feel colder,
And in fact, it's hellish hot, and the air is dank and steaming.
Yet his body starts to shiver
When the window cracks a sliver
And a fiery fog
From the miry bog
Pours in the room
In a sticky gloom
And there the man
Sees dead Luanne.
He's terrified,
But he keeps his pride,
'Cause he knows that he ain't dreaming.
And he starts screaming,
"Leave, Luanne.
Hell sent you back here for more,
'Cause ain't no one ever loved you."
But said Luanne,
"I've come to settle a score, "
And she shows him her feet are bound in chains.
And loyal Luanne remains
And remains
And remains
And remains!
Someone's howling,
Screams like sighing
With battered breath.
Grating, growling,
Never dying
In a fate worse than death.
Luanne,
She cries her miserable wail
So the bastards will never sleep again!
No, no reprieve, Luanne,
She brings their souls down to hell,
A caution to the cruelest of men:
God loves Luanne!
Praised be!
Amen!
My town actually has a legend REALLY Similar to ‘leave Luanne”, except the legend is called “Sarah Warren” (Warren is a common name, so it’s hard to pin which Warren clan Sarah was from)
Sarah married a Warren man, the story says either Josiah or Abe (different people use different names, I personally believe it was the third option of Daniel), but regardless of version the story makes sure you know that the Warren man was a BAD GUY.
Well done :')

tHE FACT THAT THERE ISNT MUCH ANIMATION OF THESE SONGS IS A CRIMEEE
BECAUSE ALL OF THE SONGS R SO GOOD
Personally this one is my favorite and next would be sarah berry
I love that detail of her screams being literal to break his eardrums.
THE FLASHBACK OF WHAT COULDVE BEEN WITH HER BECOMING A NEW PERSON??? ow

I love that dog so much! He’s literally baby! I’m glad he played a big part.
I gotta say, I loved how you added the dog. He is now my favorite character right next to Luanne.
First of all, babe, this is amazing and underrated
second of all you literally made my heart stop with that look at 4:28

As much as the other animations are amazing, this one really takes top place. I love how you really brought the dog along, and how you portrayed her emotions so well! Oh my goodness this made me cry but it’s so lovely. Amazing job!
This was incredible and I loved the connection to the dog. I never thought about the lyrics surrounding growling implying the fog defending luanne that was such an awesome inclusion and interpretation
Just wanna say, this was the best leave luanne animatic I've seen like, ever!! This is so so good, and I love your art style!
I choose to believe Luanne and the doggo went to Heaven after this and got their long deserved peace.
The way I just forgot this song out of my head after seeing another animatic but now it's back great job
This is by far the best 35mm animatic I’ve seen. I especially love that the dog has an increased role, and you really have Luanne a lot of character. Amazing job!
The first time I heard this song on another animatic, on 2:42 I was like: WAIT NO NOT THE DOG-
fricking masterpiece. oh my gods, I got emotional for watching this, you are so talented!
@@jhquinn2943 that was what I felt as well. That poor woman 😞
That right there is the sweet smell of justice; loved your animatic
I ADORE this song. At the start “leave Luanne” is good for her but the last one at the end would be good for him and “loyal Luanne remains” is the exact opposite throughout the song showing just how the turns have tabeled
The husband had a damn lot of courage if he decided to diss his dead ghost wife like that
Omg it was all so good but it was perfect when you did the daydream sequence where it became coloured and she was happy and agghhh it was so good! ✨✨💫
Omg this is gorgeous! and you did the whole thing! Your amazing!
I loved the bastard feeling the same fear luanne felt at the end, very satisfying ending
Gatdamn, I stumbled across this at 1 in the damn morning. And it made me burst into tears, so thanks for the nightmare call. I love it, subscribing immediately, take my damn soul too. (not like I got one)
Edit:You deserve so much more and I plan to attempt to give you just that.
As someone working on choreography for this song as a performance piece, I’ve been watching a lot a these and none have had the dog like yours!
perhaps it is the context of which words are spoken that give them power or meaning;
*_I LOVE YOU, DOG!!!!_*
The moral of the story:
ya'll make sure you married someone that can love you not hurt you like this.
*sips drain cleaner slushie*
The moral of the story is when you find yourself in an abusive situation, kill the bastard in his sleep and hide the body in the bog.
I was about to point out the drain cleaner because Heather Chandler but then I read your name-
I must admit, this has to be one of the best Animatics I've seen done on this song yet!
😭 GURL LEAVE god this came right for my heart
This song lives rent-free in my head now.
I really love some of the shots you pulled off here, particularly in that perspective flip when Luanne's spirit reappears! I'd also assumed that the dog coming back symbolized the passage of time, as in she kept him chained there "a dog's age", just as she had been trapped in that house with her abuser for far too long.
