Great video! Thank you for sharing. Can I ask, was the orange line you were following connecting the Hydrobox and the Shiers bell? I can't seem to find any bearings from the Hydrobox leading to the bell. Cheers.

The orange line used to connect the road and the hydrobox, but I am unsure if it's still there. The easiest way to find the bell is to follow the road. You'll pass the hydrobox on your right and eventually come to the Bell. As far as i know, there's nothing connecting the hydrobox to the bell. To return to the road, follow roughly 020 degrees. If you hit the wall, just follow it with the wall on your left shoulder and you'll see hydrobox and the road behind. Hope this helps!

@@yourdivingbuddy6625 Thank you, that's really helpful. I'll be there on the 30th and I'm trying to put a deep dive plan together. I appreciate the tips! Phil

There was a orange line from the box to the bell but it was removed by the owner of stoney, I laid a yellow line from the box to the bell Feb 23, which Andy (lovely guy who works at stoney) has checked and okayed so left in place. Dive safe .

Afternoon. Thanks for putting video up. Watched it all. Brings me too some questions as I am yet to get this deep at SC. The search for the Shire Bell from the end of the road, was this done with a bearing, previous knowledge or is it roped from the end of The Road? You seem to just come upon it and the video didn't show if you were using a bearing, so that's not a criticism given you seem well exp in the Cove. I was wondering how to get there if we took the road route. Also is the Hydro-box roped up from The Road as well and/or from the Bell?. I'm just asking as there seems to be a number of permanent ropes in place around the location and I was wondering what they were assisting with. I know the HB has a perm buoy fixed to it, so you can drop down to it on a line and back up etc. but using the fixed line to get down seems like a great way to get there and then we used the road to ascend as that helps with deco etc but of course you got to find the road. Your knowledge would be appreciated.

Dived the bell the other week. It is (was) located on the end of the road, so if you follow the road (use the sleepers as guides) you will hit it. As for the HB, if you use the road route, you can often see (as in this video) some kind soul has used orange cave line to mark it from a sleeper. However, if that is not there, you can just break right off the road at about 30m and you should hit it, as it is off on the right had side of the road. But as always, make sure you are equipped (and trained) for the dive. Make sure you have some good torch power (lumins) as it can be pretty dark, murky and even silty down there, and the low water movement can mean it takes forever to settle.

Depends on the weather and water clarity. Usually it's dark and gloomy down there, but sometimes we get lucky :)

Don't forget , how something appears on camera is not the same as in reality. It can be this dark, often not.
