  • On the 3rd July 2022 Underwater adventures took a group of divers who were doing their PADI Advanced open water course, (www.underwateradventures.co.u...) to Stoney cove in Leicestershire. During the course the divers decided to do the wreck dive as one of their elective dives so we headed out to one of the UK's most famous Wrecks, the Stanegarth. Laying at 22 metres in the middle of the Lake at Stoney cove, this is the wreck most UK Scuba divers will cut their teeth on when it comes to wreck diving.
    The Stanegarth was originally built in 1910 as a steam powered tug by Lytham Ship Builders Co. for the Rea Transport Co. Ltd. of Liverpool, that means she is older than The Titanic! She was purchased and sunk at Stoney cove in 2000 and has been a favourite of divers in training ever since.
    The wreck is easy to find at Stoney cove as it is one of only two parts of the lake with a buoy tied to it so with a short surface swim to the buoy you can drop straight down on the wreck. For those wanting to test themselves a little more you can you can take a bearing from the Wessex helicopter and swim underwater to the Stanegarth

    Such a great, atmospheric film, many thanks and your choice of music really went well with the dive footage! I have recently discovered this amazing former quarry after getting in to open water swimming in my 50's and love to swim there, and often wonder as I see the surface bubbles of you divers way below what strange things you are exploring while I am up on the surface, have watched quite a few youtube vids from here, but this one really stands out, if you didn't know where Stoney Cove was you could easily believe this was filmed off the coast of the UK somewhere. Regards guys, and all the best!

    Pretty sure I crossed paths with your group last weekend! I was guiding a group through the Stanegarth, Valiant and to the APC. Love the Stanegarth, some cool shots to be had inside without feeling claustrophobic! ;)

    Why is everyone finning like their in current

    • @underwateradventuresdiveclub
      @underwateradventuresdiveclub  4 місяці тому +1

      Students on their Advanced open water course are still new to scuba diving and have not had the time underwater to build up the experience you obviously have, and thus their finning technique is still being worked on. You can't learn everything instantly, we are not in the Matrix where we can't instantly download skills into our brains.
