Barn Owl Ringing 2024

The barn owl box in the Blackdown Hills is regularly inhabited by Finn and Trude. Last year they hatched four fabulous owlets, and each of them successfully fledged and ventured out on their own. We were delighted that Finn and Trude came back this year to use the box, and so here we are again, with four more beautiful owlets.
As this year's owlets got bigger by the day, we invited BTO-licensed bird ringers to ring them on 18 June, before they fledged. Owl ringing provides important information that underpins conservation work for owls in the same way as for all other birds.
