Lovely subject and very kind and supportive tips! (And a great model solo.) Thank you Jeremy! I think my main problem is that improvising at all takes up 93% of my brainpower, and everything else, like the simple ability to think of the next chord, goes out of the window!
That's totally how it goes, Bethany! That's how I feel about conjugating verbs in Spanish...but...every now and then, the correct conjugation just comes out. I know I need to practice more and someday....eventually...it will become easy.
Very useful tips! By the way on what page of your Jazz fundamentals book 1 can I find the basic 9th arpeggio exercise starting from the third you always show in your videos? It’s quickly becoming my desert island 🏝️ exercise!
So reassuring. So kind and wise. Good "parenting". Thank you.
My pleasure, Don! Happy practicing!
Excellent advice. I rarely lose myself in the form of a tune, but I have sometimes played with people who do and that is a real nightmare on stage.
Thank you, Jeremy 🌹🌹🌹🌹 Very helpful, Sir. It's great that you now present the full song at the end of the lesson. Inspiring.😎
Many thanks, Brenda!
I’ve heard some of these before, but they really do help stay with the form. It can sometimes be quite challenging to not get lost when improvising!!
No doubt! It's a lot to do at once, but keep at it and it will become natural. It just takes time.
Thanks, Jeremy. Really great tips!
Thanks, Sylvia! Keep at it - there's no substitute for time...
Jeremy, would you please make a video one day about practicing with backing tracks? for beginners
Loved the lesson a lot
Interesting idea. I might not be the guy for it as I have never done it, but I'll think about it!
