I love the "Kill the Messenger" skill! I really need to get this game back to the table. I made it to chapter 4 and stopped when I learned about the 1.2 rules. Although now I might wait until the vile variations delivers which will give alternate versions of all the enemies, then just start the game from the beginning.
I finished the 1.1 version solo 4 handed, it melts your brain towards the end with all the abilities. Rook was my tank as well, adding barrier to the build helps with the courage stifle. zeke could dodge 4 times for free so pretty much unhittable by the end. Courage was so much better in 1.1 adding a star! Looking forward to the new content when its done
Thanks for this. I picked this up used a while back, but have never gotten it to the table because handling 4 characters with all the cards and the fiddly math feels so overwhelming. Compared to Tales from the Red Dragon Inn, which is so smooth, I always pull that one out instead. Someday.
I can't argue with that. Tales will remain the more accessible and "quick fun" game out of the two. But I think you might enjoy the epic narrative and more complex gameplay of this one as well!
Thanks for bringing that to the table again. I almost forgot how cool those encounters are build... its sad that nightingale had no chance down there, but the way they revealed a completely new level part was very cool. Rules mistake: 1:21:39 The Loa pushes only if there is more than one opponent adjacent. Also i think you get a saving throw when forced moved over a cliff?
I stopped playing after the first chapter in order to paint the minis. I really have to get going, but i assume act 2 and 3 will deliver before i'm done including a bucket load of new miniatures 😅
SUCH different games, well besides being combat crawlers. For my packed schedule, I'd pick Red Dragon Inn. it's faster to set up, faster to play, and less brain-burny. But if you want a deeper story, more exploration, or more complex combat (for better or worse), Middara wins out.

Love that game, we finished Book1; and will be replaying once everything is delivered from the other stories!
Act 2 is almost done right?

I REALLY want those variations. The rules discuss them, but then I don’t have them and it’s cave sickles forever 😂

Yeah, I can only imagine how crazy this will get in chapter 5 (or act 2 and 3!)

I use color coded dice on the character card to track equipment stat boosts....
Smart!

Do you get a saving throw? I thought that was only monsters. Either way, it was hilarious.

Probably!! 😂😅
Thank you!
I know it might not be the best comparison; but this (updated version) or Tales from the Red Dragon Inn?! :D

@@OneStopCoopShop Thanks! That totally makes sense :)
