Exclusive look at Getty family art collection worth $180 million

Gordon Getty, the son of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, had his house emptied of nearly 1,200 art pieces and will auction them off to benefit several San Francisco organizations.

Hmmm, nothing suggesting he left anything to the Getty museum. That may reflect grudges remaining over Paul having been so generous with the museum & the kids having lost their years-long lawsuits against the museum. It is amusing to see Ann G. lauded as a collector. If you read their bio's, you realize that she was one of the most monumental money-spenders in all human history. She was busy every day finding new and greater ways to toss away vast amounts of money. Gordon put up with it quietly. I constantly read how wealthy the surviving family members are and wonder at their levels of greed to have put the museum through so much expense and grief. nice that they lost though. The Getty museum stands as one of the greatest gifts to a city and nation of any rich man in all history.

Money is for spending. And at least the proceeds for the auction go to schools and performing art venues.
