    When it comes to both technologies, as they grow further, it is really hard to tell them apart, especially in a well lit environment, and when you are playing games that doesn't have much dark scenes. The only thing that may differentiate them is viewing angles.

    I had a few monitors since 2020, I changed it so many times to get the "perfect" screen, now I'm with the g7 32", and I havent found it yet. I choosed the 32" because its curve, for me 27" is the seeet spot for gaming, in all this monitors I had the gigabyte M27Q was the best price/quality racio, I didnt keep it because all the 3 panels came with dead/stuck pixel and terrible backlight bleed, but the monitor itself by 279 euros was a steal.
    The others, an AOC tn panel, awfull collors, then I bought the aoc 24g2u, wich was great, but his size was too small for me, the next one was the acer nitro xq252 240 hz tn, great response time, but the transistion to 240 hz was not so relevante like when I did it to the 144hz, so I decided to go with the 1440p, that was when I get the m27q asewome monitor for the price, the control quality was not the best, so it came with with dead pixels and a lot of backlight bleed, so I get the G7 32" its a great panel, great response time, good color gamut, it feels premium, a lot of features, great contrast, hdr is not bad as many panels, but the size I think is too big for me, and the 1000r is too curve for my taste, so after trying all this panels I decided my sweet spot is a 27" flat ips panel 1440p with response times bettween the 170hz and 240hz, or wating to qd oled came to the market.

    I ordered a G7 to give it a shot, I work and game in a mostly dark room so IPS glow and backlight bleed are very irritating especially when I watch movies or play dark scened games like Inscryption. The Alienware AW2721D I currently have spoils me with its bright panel and awesome colors, but I'm willing to sacrifice some of the colors/brightness for better contrast and uniformity at this point.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  2 роки тому +1

      Hey.... honestly Review after review I still see the AW2721D full screen Brightness as the best on the market. I love brightness and if I dont hear Alienware make a successor I will end up buying one. LoL.. late to the party but in a room with alot of rgb (my new room) Brightness will come in handy. Tho they might reveal something soon as they are revealing new desktops and they say they have more surprise reveals for the anniversary...

      @@DisplayReality It's absolutely the SDR brightness king and if you can get a panel with good black uniformity and minimal glow/bleed, you have it made. I had to go through four exchanges before I got one that I thought was perfect... and about a month in a couple of spots I didn't notice before became apparent haha. If you love brightness and AW doesn't make a successor to that model, it's a must have. If I end up keeping the Samsung, I'll be letting go of the AW. If you happened to want it, let me know. Also I got my G7 in yesterday and calibrated it overnight with a colorimeter, it's absolutely amazing. Even though the colors are less saturated and viewing angles aren't as good, the incredible contrast ratio and depth more than make up for it. It's an incredible experience. I gave the System Shock Remake demo a try also and it showcased that VA power wonderfully. I still love monitors with LG Nano IPS panels especially for their viewing angles and amazing colors, but Samsung restored my faith in VA panels with the G7.

    1000R on a 27"/32" 16:9 panel is almost a bad taste joke to me.

    This is not correct argument or comparison at all. But everybody seems to copy same idea in VA vs ISP, i think they just watch each other videos and then repeat it.
    The case is: you don't know how the artist or developer made it. Does he want you to see more detail or not. If there is dark room and small light, in VA panel you see whole room details, while with IPS panel, the room detail is not so clear, which might be correct version!
    If developers wanted, they could easily added luminosity scale or shader, to fix this.
    Another thing, some monitor like GP850 has option: Black Stabilizer. If you enable that, you could easily see more or less details. You can't claim this is better, more details, original, right etc.
    To finish this off, some 2k expensive drawing tablets, are IPS tablets with contrast 1:1000, so yeah..... If you see more contrast, for example in that anime image, it might be the incorrect version with VA panel! You see what artist does not want you to see!
    So reality is something else, what ppl claim it to be!

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  2 роки тому

      Your eyes should decide what is to be seen per scene. Which One is better to the eye. One looks deeper more enjoyable then the other etc. Everyone has a preference. Great content...just discovered this channel and am trying to research which monitor to buy for preferably no more than $250 if possible. I'd like a panel w/as fast a refresh as possible but I think I read or heard somewhere that 240Hz does 4:2:0 color while 144Hz has the more complete 4:4:4 if I understand correctly. This may be true irregardless if using display port or HDMI 2/2.1 iirc. I do believe display port is better if I want to take advantage of Freesync 2 (aka Freesync Premium Pro). I don't know if Freesync has any downsides, but it seems that it doesn't afaik, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I remember reading somewhere that Freesycnc takes some stress off the GPU and CPU and makes it so you can turn off screen tearing to further minimize PC resources. I hope that is true. I have heard that anything beyond 240HZ is too expensive and comparatively nets diminishing returns when going from 144Hz to 240Hz in terms of response /input lag. My GPU is an RX 570 8GB. I'd like as fast as possible response (Street Fighter 5) but not at the expense of a greyer, more washed out image due to less color information if that is what occurs when using 240HZ over 144Hz. Input lag is extremely important as well. I don't need a large panel and it seems like 22" are no longer sold or few if so, so it looks like the new minimum size is mostly 24" if I'm correct. I'm leaning towards VA b/c I hate playing older retro games and noticing that the black screens (like Sonic the Hedgehog stage transitions) look grey instead of black like they should. I want as close to true black as possible and I don't need the brightest colors, even though I do love vivid colors. I have noticed on a certain games like SF5 that the backgrounds distract too much, and I think that was a poor design choice from Capcom, but I don't know if any panel could overcome that weakness. I guess Capcom should, or could have darkened or blurred the backgrounds a tiny amount to make them less distracting for one to be able to better concentrate on the characters. This is a primary reason I play training stage while playing ranked. I understand most VA panels are curved, but I'd prefer a flat one for non-gaming scenarios. I'm hoping AMD FSR will allow me to improve the visuals of SF5 b/c my PC isn't new and not ideal at running this game even though I use gigabit ethernet hardwired. I know less about OLED/QLED (quatum dot I guess)/micro LED except that they are newer and probably much more expensive until perhaps another year or two. I'd like to minimize ghosting as well but is not as important as the above mentioned features and is probably not a big deal on these more modern displays I hope. Any monitor suggestions are appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.

I had it for a month, and suddenly started to turn off by it self.. like sometimes i could not get it to turn on even… and yes i did update to the latest. I had to return the g7 today. I did chose the GP850.
    But yeah the g7 is great but only when it works.

      Seems not my case, I own it for a month & no issue at all, Samsung already updated the firmware before delivering it to me, at first the curve of 1000R made me feel uncomfortable, but 2 weeks later my eyes really get used to it. Believe me once you get used to the 1000R curve, it would be really great experience much better than flat one.

      Beside the size of 3 inch difference. The LG would be brighter in sdr and hdr while response times being equal to the eye. Maybe that 3 inchs would make a big difference on your desk. Seems to future proof you on size for a little more. 32" seems to be better for 4k display now days. My next 4k monitor besides the new g7 28" will be 32" going forward. Th GP850 is better than the G5 but vs the G50A/G52A etc its tied... the GP850 is LG Nano but the G50A etc is an LG Display (I can't find Nano marketing) I love the G50A at 299 (super sales). But basically equal on your question. But the reg G5 is a VA panel and a mid/lower tier at that. On the GP850 and G50A+ there is no smear or trail at all...

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  2 роки тому +1

      It's equal friend. Meaning you can adjust on the monitor or Nvidia control panel. I prefer the G7s contrast so adding a small bit more color is ok. On any other preset than User (custom more toned look) it looks great. G7s Black equalizer destroys any IPS panel . Settingsbit to cinema is crazy strong. Tho just to note rtings says some panels have a 2500:1 while there's is 3900:1 to it varys even by G7 panels. Mine easily is 3900:1 like rtings while others reviewers show lower contrast and not as punchy.. weird how that is...

      @@DisplayReality I noticed how with dimming on the contrast is much better on my g7, with it off its contrast is not as good. I just wish they never did the curve so it was more mainstream. During my multiple play through and work sessions on it can really make my brain distort other flat panels after a long session on g7. As well as give me weird sensations like something is wrong. But anyways yeah g7 is a beast other than that and then some.

    • @diocub4022

      @@DisplayReality have you also noticed how sometimes how strong local dimming is, sometimes too strong that it hurts the eyes, when the image is not as bright then out of nowhere a bright image pops up, and almost close to 600 nits brightness get shown at you like a flashlight at night makes me hurt my eyes. The games looks much better with local dimming on for immersion but that's another reason why I can't play too long on g7. Again it's a beautiful monitor just wish they didn't cut corners on local dimming and put more than 8 local dimming spots.
