Beautiful! Thanks so much. This third stage feels like the same Jiddu Krishnamurti suggests saying that there is no difference between the thinker and thought, or the observer and the observed etc. I feel I understand what Rupert is saying. It is saying yes to everything indeed! No evaluation/ judgement/ cutting/division of reality. Eckhart Tolle hints at this third level of understanding and probably has achieved it himself, but seems to teach more of the first and second understanding. Nevertheless he is a fantastic teacher. Same with Mooji. He seems to teach mostly with this "you are not the objects of awareness" approach. I think what Rupert points at on the third understanding is the same as when it is said " all is God" which basically means that all things at their different vibrations and charateristics are just Energy in different presentations, like if all were play doh molded in different shapes/colors/qualities but still playdoh. Beautiful stuff. Thanks for posting. I feel that ultimately everyone must explore these beautiful pointers and come to an understanding which finally cannot be described by words or reason. It just IS. Peace and Love to all the beautiful expressions of Life that listen to these beautiful teachings/pointers as well as to Rupert and all the teachers that help us relinquish division, judgement and limitations. Krishnamurti: Again, are you asking this question from this side of the river, or is it from the other bank? If you are on the other bank, you will not ask this question; if you are on that bank, your action will be from that bank. So there is an awareness of this bank, with all its structure, its nature and all its traps, and to try to escape from the trap is to fall into another trap. And what deadly monotony there is in all that! Awareness has shown us the nature of the trap, and therefore there is the negation of all traps; so the mind is now empty. It is empty of the "me" and of the trap. This mind has a different quality, a different dimension of awareness. This awareness is not aware that it is aware." I agree, I thought that Mooji was the final pointer until I heard Rupert's explanation and a whole new understanding came about. Wow, simply wow the nature of ourSelf.
Beautifully explained. ‘What you are is not just the empty space, in which it appears and with which it is known, but also out of which it is made.’ Thank you🙏
"What you are is not just the open empty space *in* which all experience appears and *with* which it is known, but also *out of* which it is made. This is the step where we collapse the distinction between the witness and its objects."
My understanding is that in the first stage we recognize that we are the non judgmental witness of all experience. In the second step we recognize that this witnessing consciousness is all pervading and eternal And in the third stage we realize that there never ware neither an object to be witnessed nor a witnessing consciousness but rather that the only thing that exists is consciousness alone. That is the non dual part of the Sat and the Chit of the Vedantic formula, and the solution of this cosmic equation is permanent peace “Ananda”. Thank you Rupert for being my cosmic mathematician!
Rupert is just too good. I was at the awareness + object stage thanks to Eckhart. Its indeed fascinating to now collapse this duality....This will take time to integrate but absolutely a delighting perspective. Thanks!
I had a similar experience being at the awareness + objects stage thanks to eckhart tolle. It’s so interesting how the third stage can come about in different ways. Like for me I returned to Rupert’s teachings recently and BOOM-something clicked and I couldn’t go back now. And my mind was thrown out of whack and is still kind of recalibrating haha.
It's like going full circle: first you're lost in experience with no awareness of consciousness; next you become of aware of consciousness and observe experience; lastly, experience and consciousness are realized as being one; instead of there being just pure experience as in the first stage, in the end there is just pure consciousness or pure experience (however you want to word it) as opposed to just experience.
Besides the example of the screen and the images, there are several other beautiful examples to illustrate what Rupert Spira explains so appropriately: The ocean and the waves, the rope and the knots or the ink and the written words are some of them.
Damn. That's what I've come to by myself. Interesting and cool to have someone confirm my experiences. I've been stuck at stage 2 for some time. I was able to be aware of awareness. But it felt kinda like self-imposed depersonalization. This merging with your experience thing, nirvana and samsara being inseparable, everything being everything, thing in itself, petri cup - that's what it's about. Wow. Just wow. Thanks, Rupert
In order to understanding non duality or singularity or pure consciousness it is necessary to understand duality first (stage 1 here described). The ocean experiences itself through its own waves rising and falling…🙏🙌🏻 Rupert is just too good!!
I remember someone asked Osho, "How do I know I've made it (got enlightened)?", and he reply "When for you there is no difference between the 'drishta' (the seer) and the 'drishya' (the seen), know that you've made it. And don't stop before that, every stop before that will look like the destination, but its nothing more than a milestone."
Spira has this amazing gift to get to grips with the apparent contradictions and fuses them to one. This whole observer and the observed (objects) story is simply dissolved into unlimited oneness. The LED-screen (awareness) and the images (mind/objects) we perceive fuse into one indiscriminate knowing.
Your being is Awareness but your becoming is Consciousness. Awareness is the pure expansive state. However Consciousness is the bundle of thoughts, feelings and emotions which is the same as Knowing. A very clear explanation by Rupet. Thanks
There is something beautiful about the uniqueness akin to individuality, like a flavor that colours each that is the same in everyone. Without it, awareness would indeed be a flat mechanical experience..

The words are such mutable creations. Originally they were created to describe that, what is, later that, what was not anymore and at the end mainly that, what isn't at all, yet was presented as that, what is. Take for example the word 'honestly'. If it is used by an honest man, with no beliefs whatsoever, than it truly stands for that, which is stated, for someone who is speaking the truth. If it is used by a man, who believes he is honest, then it truly stands only for that, what he believes, thinks to be the truth, therefore a lie. There are not many minds, there is only one mind. If they really confronted their fears, they wouldn't consider themselves to be mere thoughts of self, they wouldn't refer to themselves as who. If they really confronted their fears, they would know about the existence as much as they knew before aka nothing. If they really confronted their fears, they would understand that there's no way how they could communicate the truth to the other, except for their actions. I'll repeat their actions, not the words, not the analogies, not the stories of awakening, not creating the image of a path, not their experiences. Does it make any difference if you tell someone (who is being brainwashed (hypnotised) that they are dead) that they are alive, that they are free? No, it doesn't, they keep experiencing their sleep paralysis, as that is the only reality they are able to experience thanks to their belief. You just happen to brainwash them with different words, which they might or might not decide to believe in. The only teacher to anyone, is the perception (not a thought) of an honest man. This is called love and freedom. Yp, they even refer to this learning as the passion of being.
Is there anything wrong with discussions on YT? The brainwashed are being brainwashed because other brainwashed is philanthropically helping them, by brainwashing them, to be brainwashed alà 'not brainwashed'. You are welcome
I was struggling to understand where do I go in deep sleep, this video totally answers that to truly experience that It is still there but the concept of “I” goes away 😊
Rupert Spira is very skillfull in his sharing because he is naturally very one - pointed with what he brings forth, in this way he naturally expresses clarity which can solidify awareness in ways that are beneficial to the receiver. However there are many ways to approach and to see things none of it is good or bad it is just a matter of what is beneficial to each of us, and what Rupert does, in my understanding, is to help people let go of their confusion so that the mind can sort of become less frantic with its own definitions and understandings.
I like the sky analogy better than the screen. Even in the sky and the clouds, there is only one thing: the atmosphere. The clouds are a momentary manifestation of atmosphere under certain conditions
I was feeling as perplexed as the woman asking the question so I start reading Zhuangzi and the Becoming of Nothingness by David Chai. Since this whole affair feels like a constant symbiotic process, on our end anyway since there is only "isness" Qi is the key for me. I would love to here Rupert speak about the concept of Qi / Chi if even just for intellectual pleasure.
the 3rd step can be understood like "even if the object is not there still the awareness exists but without awareness there's no object , so basically without water waves can't exist but even without waves water exist as it is "
The comments on this video confirm what I thinking of when I was watching it, and that was "how in the hell does this guy not know that he's filling these peoples' heads with conceptual objects that will occlude their own awareness without objects from their own attention/recognition system and thus prevent realization?" Then I had the realization that it may not be so much about bringing the truth to others as it is about hearing himself talk and then seeing it confirmed as "truth" through adulation in the comments and at the events. Besides, helping to prevent realization in your audience-whether you understand why or not-is a great way to keep the viewership up.
That's what all "Masters" do. They say that through enlightenment they no longer need anything because all their happiness and fulfillment is assured perpetually and unconditionally from within, from their own Being, through identification with and in the True Self which is one with all. If so, I suggest to Rupert, Eckhart, Mooji, Sadhguru, etc. to try an experiment = to completely close their ashrams to test themselves if they will feel as harmonious, calm and balanced as before but without having in front of them spectators and admirers to whom they feel "guru" advisers. Their work is written in their books and their retreats and advice are posted in thousands of videos and interviews and therefore no longer need their presence on the pedestal of the stage where they feed their satisfaction and their own being by "vampirizing" the attention, appreciation and money of the crowds that idolizes them and takes them into account. This is the ultimate test, but they continue to fuel their inner emptiness from the disoriented crowds that seek enlightenment for their happiness, peace, and fulfillment.
@@thinkandsend7453 as a meditation 'teacher' or more accurately 'facilitator', I can say that there is great energetic benefit to being present with a highly enlightened being. It is an invisible gift. Energetic entrainment and cannot be understood by anyone still in the grasp of fear, hatred, anger which is all cultivated in and by the activity of the Mind. May I suggest that you go to one of his meetings. You will not walk out the same person...in fact you eill not walk out a person at all. Namaste x

You can't have life without the objects, the things, the thoughts, of everything around us. No? Difficult for me to understand this particular presentation by Rubert. Well, I sort of understand...Will keep on listening!
You can. You only need to visualise everything . The objects and then the awareness. It's like yin and yan Intertwined together, you can see awareness and object and then you know.
You can see an object, say time, as a useful concept (I need to be at my doctor by 3 pm) without suffering from, say, regrets (thoughts about a ‘past’ that never existed) by believing the object of time is real. And there is no time, just this eternal (beginningless/endless) ‘moment.’
Being self aware does not limit you to non-objectivity. It permits you to retain objectivity in order to gain perspective of non-objectivity while expanding inter / multi dimensionally.
I had begun to reject the screen metaphor, it was not working for me...Here, it has come back to work, again. Now I need to go back and find those videos which provoked the problem with the analogy.....I think it was the one which was titled "there is no matter", and which pointed out the materialistic conditioning of our culture as the problem - that piece of teaching created more problem than it solved, for me. Here, and a few others I have watched/listened more recently, it is resolved..
Comments here are as enlightening as Rupert. Thanks, Koort. Do you experience objects moving when body moves, or body moving and objects as still? Am a happy hermit and, like 'another' guest here, have lost/relinquished vivaciousness, which is v tranquil.
All of this is a wonderful story that is being made up as the conversation unfolds, it is in realm of what we think it is a horizontal conversation. Now my question is, can we have what we think if it were not for the fact that we think? My next question is, can we have that we think if it were not for our facility of mind? Even what I have written is a story I have made up, now my question to myself is this, do I see that I am making up my story, and my next question for myself is this, am I in service to my story(thinking) or is my story(thinking)in service to me. After all my story is a consequence of thinking, and the quality of my thinking is a direct consequence of the quality of my state of mind. Ah well isn't it all just a thought when all is said and done.
It is easy to visualize Rupert Spira's teaching with my symbol for the field of all possibilities: 0️⃣+♾️=1️⃣ Its meaning? I am Nothing (first stage). I am Everything (second stage). I am I, One with God (third stage). Zero plus Infinite equals One IS the metamathematics formula needed to build a civilized society AND change the world.
Enlightenment isn't something to attain and it is not yet another experience for our minds to catalogue and dissect. Take what Spira is saying to its logical conclusion. There is only infinite consciousness. It is already enlightened, now.
Maybe we should allow our thinking and perceiving in order to feel the knowing. I don't think we should avoid one in order to feel the other,if that's the case. We don't need to flight in our inner body, mind, spirit. It's the unique way to feel non duality
Does this message mirror the gospel (“good news”) message? Step 1: Death (Dying to the world - establishing the presence and primacy of awareness, as opposed to being identified with, and therefore lost within, the “objects” of experience), Step 2: Burial (a resting of awareness, awareness sinking into awareness, empty of objects, not in time and space, recognition that awareness is eternal and infinite), Step 3: Resurrection (going back to the “objects” of experience, collapsing the apparent distinction between Awareness (i.e. Knowing) and its “objects”, experiencing Oneness.)
Knowing in Hebrew is the word yada. It means to be intimate with what you are experiencing. Example: Adam knew Eve and conceived. Is it possible that intimately knowing some thing that it should produce fruit through it's conception, whether an idea? or a thought? or a feeling?
Thanks Rupert! Question: reducing objects to sensation and experience via senses is fine ... but is object still there or not? Is there external trigger point ? Why mechanics of external stimuli is always missing from explainations
Amazing video. Thank you. I'm still having a little trouble with stage 3. How do we know that the objects in experience are made by the same substance as knowing?

Namaste x
Wow Excellent question Rupert was intrigued immediately
Absolutely love this..
Words can not describe...those who know can not say...except to make a living.
God he is so Good :) !
I think the third stage is natural and obvious for all people: perceveing is a direct expression of awareness, not an object
Thanks for this wonderful discussion.
Thank you! It's clear now.
"Before one studies The Way, mountains are mountains and waters are waters; after a first glimpse of the truth, mountains are no longer mountains and waters are no longer waters; after settling the matter, mountains are once again mountains and waters once again waters."

Thank you for the headache, Rupert
12:00: = The only power is consciousness.
How does one not only mentally understand the Stage 3 analogy but actually experientially realize so?
Thank you !
Ridiculously good.
Comments here are as enlightening as Rupert. Thanks, Koort. Do you experience objects moving when body moves, or body moving and objects as still?
Am a happy hermit and, like 'another' guest here, have lost/relinquished vivaciousness, which is v tranquil.
Muchas gracias, un video genial!!!!
All of this is a wonderful story that is being made up as the conversation unfolds, it is in realm of what we think it is a horizontal conversation.
Now my question is, can we have what we think if it were not for the fact that we think? My next question is, can we have that we think if it were not for our facility of mind?
Even what I have written is a story I have made up, now my question to myself is this, do I see that I am making up my story, and my next question for myself is this, am I in service to my story(thinking) or is my
story(thinking)in service to me. After all my story is a consequence of thinking, and the quality of my thinking is a direct consequence of the quality of my state of mind.
Ah well isn't it all just a thought when all is said and done.
this is hard to get on a rational level which is why I gave up "trying" to "get" it in the first place. Saved me much of a headache. xD
Awareness aware of awareness. Empty of objects. 3rd step knowing.
It is easy to visualize Rupert Spira's teaching with my symbol for the field of all possibilities: 0️⃣+♾️=1️⃣
Its meaning? I am Nothing (first stage). I am Everything (second stage). I am I, One with God (third stage). Zero plus Infinite equals One IS the metamathematics formula needed to build a civilized society AND change the world.
Perfect explanation...!
Thanks. In Judaism the same idea is transported in the words„he is the knower and the knowledge“.
Yes yes I think consciousness created all objects. Objects are the lasting resistance.
Enlightenment isn't something to attain and it is not yet another experience for our minds to catalogue and dissect. Take what Spira is saying to its logical conclusion. There is only infinite consciousness. It is already enlightened, now.
Nice shirt, Rupert. Thanks for the teaching.
My master 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Maybe we should allow our thinking and perceiving in order to feel the knowing. I don't think we should avoid one in order to feel the other,if that's the case. We don't need to flight in our inner body, mind, spirit. It's the unique way to feel non duality
Can one be truly happy at the awareness + objects stage?
Happiness is when there is no lack. So i dont know exactly how that works :p
I wonder, why Rupert does not quote Bhagvad Gita here? The concept of Kshetra and Kshetrajna is very pertinent.
'awareness being aware of itself'....
Third step can be best described with : there are no waves ,only water all the time.jist appears waves ,bubble foam.
He's further transiting from 'Atma Gyan' to 'Brahm Gyan'. Stage 2 to 3
Does this message mirror the gospel (“good news”) message?
Step 1: Death (Dying to the world - establishing the presence and primacy of awareness, as opposed to being identified with, and therefore lost within, the “objects” of experience),
Step 2: Burial (a resting of awareness, awareness sinking into awareness, empty of objects, not in time and space, recognition that awareness is eternal and infinite),
Step 3: Resurrection (going back to the “objects” of experience, collapsing the apparent distinction between Awareness (i.e.
I am not my thoughts but neither am I separate from them 🙂
Thanks Rupert! Question: reducing objects to sensation and experience via senses is fine ... but is object still there or not? Is there external trigger point ? Why mechanics of external stimuli is always missing from explainations
So i keep hearing E. Kant in your view
Amazing video. Thank you. I'm still having a little trouble with stage 3. How do we know that the objects in experience are made by the same substance as knowing?
Blessings
