    Did this with 2011 corolla LE. Got sick of people thonking i had my headlights on while on break and didnt like them always on anyway. I was worries it would mess with regular light functions but it didnt. Worked like a charm

      @@Lvl30Fatman awesome man! Some states do require daytime running lamps,but I'm not running with my lights on until it's necessary. For 1...it's killing the lifespan of
      the bulbs,2...it's unnecessary pull from the battery and alternator. I would rather be in control of when my lights are on

    Thank you so much just did this on my 2010 Corolla s and I love it I have to run the switch just like the car should be and happy to see I have full control I followed your steps and it works fine thank you sir your a life savior hated my high beam leds flickering all the time

      Awesome man! Less power from the battery, saves on bulb life, better for the altenator. Lights are not needed on sunny days. Doing this just made sense to me. Glad I could help out!

    Amazing. All my loghts seem to be on but running lights don't come on at night, think it will work if i do what you did?

      Drl's are daytime running lights. They stay on during the day. Some states require this,but mine does not so I disabled that by doing this. I'm just pulling from the battery and heating the bulbs for no reason during the day

    Thanks for the video. I have a Toyota Corolla Axio 2007 and I replaced my Halogen lights with a HID Toyota genuine kit. With that change I replaced my light switch with the Toyota Premio 260 switch that comes with the automatic option (the new switch wire clip does not match the old one, so I connected the wire suitable for normal operation). My car has an automatic light sensor on the instrument panel and how do I connect it to activate that feature for a new switch?

      That would only give the appearance that the DRLs are off,but they would still be on.

    I did this recently and instead of cutting that wire, i pulled the wire out with the pin. That way i have the option to put the pin back in without having to reconnect cut wires.

      That's the correct way to do it. Cutting the wire is just lazy and hack way to do it.

    Going to try this on my 2013 Corolla this weekend. Should be the same i think? Your glove compartment looks identical to mine.

      I upgraded my Low and Highbeams to Morimoto HIDs but the HID's dont run in low power mode and so this keeps my HIDs in high beam mode all the time during the day. Not good! Hence why I need to disable DRL.

    Hey, I recently bought some LED headlights for my 2013 corolla, and the DRL flickers like crazy! But when I turn high beams on, it works perfectly normal, same with low beams. I don’t want the DRL either, so this would do it right?

      Mine did the same thing with the flickering. It has to do with the LED's pulling more power than the standard bulb...thus they flicker. By killing the drl's...you save life in the bulbs and eliminate the problem.

      So I’m getting ready to upgrade my headlamp assembly and upgrade my lights. It was going to be HID or LED I’m choosing LED. The draw back to LED is it can send a single saying your Bulb is working and it will cause flickering.. they recommend Load resistors they come premade. I thought I’d just share that info.

      Just cut and wrapped the end with electrical tape. No issues in years. Working how I want them to

      I tried just removing the daytime running lights out of the sockets. Actually you have to remove the socket and the lights together. When I did that I noticed that my left turn signal in the front was not working. I think that's why nobody has mentioned to do this.

    Can't you just remove the fuse that goes to the daylight running lights? Will that work?

      On my 2010 RAV4, by removing the relay it won't allow my high beams to work at all. I hate DRL's. My wife has a 2013 RAV4 and Toyota lets you cut them off simply by turning the dang switch back!!

      @@MemphisMojo15s right! I don't like him either. I saw in another video and the guy said that each bulb uses about 50 Watts. So that's 100 Watts that's being used that does not need to be used. Wish these cars came with a switch or button so you can turn them off and on when you want to, like on cloudy days.

    I have a question. If that wire is cut does it has to do anything with the high beam indicator not turning on? Because I asked my friend for this and now my high beam indicator doesn’t work

      No Sir, this should NOT effect your high beam indicator. I would check the bulb for the high beam indicator. After doing this procedure...my indicator still works

      Thank you man! Been a while now and the same bulbs are installed. Alternator and battery still going strong. In my fight with brain cancer, seeing comments like this,man it's motivation to me and a big pick-me-up. 2 brain operations this year,knocked out all forms of therapy and already gone through full radiation treatment and it barely phased me. I refuse to go down. Chemo starts soon and I feel like I'm up on points in this fight. Thanks man! I'm so glad this video could help.

      @@righteousredneck777 I'll keep you in my prayers on the cancer! Don't quit ever!! By the way, I went out, dropped the glove compartment, snipped the correct wire, and ... voila! I never liked the automatic headlights or the DRLs anyways, but adding LEDs really finished the utility of those. We have three of these inexpensive cars in the family. Kids will get LEDs for Christmas and a quick wire-cut will help!

      @@hoganfogarty7858 that's odd. Go by autozone or somewhere and have the battery and alternator tested. Just to make sure you have proper voltage. That's where I would start. This is kinda strange,but I'm sure it's something electrical

      Strange. You should just turn forward on the switch to turn the lights on and then push forward on the ditch to turn on the high beams

    So the point of DRLs is so that other people can see you when it's transitioning from day to night and vice versa or when it's rainy, you can see the road in front of you, but you can't necessarily see the car on the other side of the road because it dark enough out that shapes get distorted or harder to see

      That being said, using the high beams or in my case, the low beams in my '05 Corolla is a terrible idea

      @@ChrisPBolsak yeah,I simply like to be able to control when I need my lights. It saves bulb life and pulls less from the battery and alternator. Every little bit adds up. I don't like shining lights in people's faces when I don't need my lights on. It is a distraction on a well lit day and not necessary

    Just did this yesterday but depinned it instead of cutting it. An FYI for you guys, this will also disable your automatic headlights, meaning your low beams/tail lamps will not come on when it gets dark.

      Yes Sir I do! What's your issue? Check engine light on? Code for catalytic converter? Mine had to be replaced at 90k. I can give you one thing that may just clean it out enough to fix it...if the light is on and you have a code for it.

    Your video is the best from the rest I love how you took the time to explain everything in detail where to find the wire and which one it is I'm gonna do this to my 2010 Corolla XRS I like not having Daytime running lights and I hate Auto Headlights I'd rather have the option to turn them on and off whenever I need to the Daytime running lights in my 97 Accord EX is disconnected and I noticed my Alternator never dies what you said is so true Daytime Running lights do drain power on your Alternator

Anybody doing a video like this you always want to explain things slowly and try to show people exactly what to do if you rush through it then what's the point? Definitely not having the daytime running lights will help the alternator as well as help the bulbs themselves to last longer.

      Might be some slight differences. I actually prefer my body style over the newer. They tapered down the tail lights. I find that mine has a more sporty look. Still runs like a new car

    What I hate about "smart" tech is how these idiot engineers design these features as a "benefit" but with no way to disable the feature. Phones, computers, everything. I can't stand it.
