Whenever I was heading back from London via train, you always knew you were nearly at Bedford when you saw the smoking chimneys. Thank you very much for this rare footage.
Some great footage here! I grew up in Stewartby, so it's fascinating to see the brickworks just slightly before my time. Would I be able to insert a couple of clips from this in my next video about the local area?
It's easy to forget the sheer bloody hard work done by manual labourers, who very often toil for the lowest pay. The UK government is raising the retirement age regardless of what job you do - how can you cope with this arduous effort in your late 60s??
First time i have seen a workplace notice regarding fighting!!!! These things were more common form the late 70's and 80's especially with Asian employees for some reason.
Yes pls do. I am glad you enjoyed the film.
Thank you!

Had 10 happy years working there blocking, smudging on top of the kilns and of course the mono rail.

It would be really good if someone could add some audio over this to explain about the machines and processes being carried out.

This is amazing to see. My grandad worked here for 29 years. Retired in 1992. Have you got any more videos?
That is all I filmed, I was on a training course, with two rolls of film.
My grandads and dad worked here
Originally mostly Italian workers from the Naples area came in 1950. But also they recruited Punjabi workers in the 70's some pretty big guys.
Mind if I pinch this to show at Bursledon Brickworks Museum? I'm a trustee there. I'm sure the punters would love to see it.
