My favorite Nancy Sinatra-Lee Hazlewood duet is "Some Velvet Morning" with their contrasting time signatures. Lee Hazlewood has a collection of songs worth exploring. He also wrote "These Boots Are Made For Walking".
Lee Hazlewood wrote Nancy's hit "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" as well as this song and several more. They also memorably sang a duet on "Jackson" but Lee didn't write that one.
This is one of their most beautiful songs. Very good choice. "Some Velvet Morning" is also pure magic. "My baby cried all night long" is also very cool. I think Nancy is one of the top ten most beautiful women ever.
@@johnsilva9139 I own over ten thousand LP's and about five thousand 45 singles and i know what i have and what i don't have. I'm just saying it doesn't take much to pay attention.
This song brings back sooo many memories of the late 60s here in India. We kids used to crowd around the short wave radio to listen to this song amongst other hits of the day back then.
This was from the Ed Sullivan Show - the way about 1/3 of the country spent Sunday nights in the 60's. The show will be a rich collection of music for the channel. He introduced The Beatles to American television, as well as The Rolling Stones and The Doors.
Nany did a TV special in the 60s and there's some numbers with Lee in it; prob. the most well known is "Some Velvet Morning". Hazlewood also wrote "Houston" for Dean Martin
The recordings of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood are critically acclaimed, legendary...you're hitting a real deep vein to explore! Some Velvet Morning should be soon on your todo list.
Whoa Jay, I’ve come to America and you’re wearing our flag 🇬🇧 so how about top uk group Slade who had 17 top 20 hits from 1971-76. One of their 6 No.1s is Cum on feel the Noize, so how about new artist time 🙏
I think You Guys would like Nancy Sinatra's 'Sugartown'. 'Summer Wine' is a Really Cool duet that was a Very Unusual Style in the day, IMO. Great Choice & Reaction! :)
OMG my grandparents had this album when I was very young and we all played the heck out of it. I love Lee Hazelwood (RIP). These Boots are Made for Walking came out when I was about 6 and I wanted to be a go go dancer LOL. 😂 I have this album on my ITunes.
Great , these two did a few songs together. 'Did you ever' is a another good one. Nancy a talented singer in her own right did some good songs on her own including Boots as you mentioned but also 'Sugartown' and 'You only live twice' , the latter the theme song to the Bond Movie of the same name. A great song by her famous father is 'One for my Baby and one for the road.'-Colin Ward
They should also check out their songs, Isn't It A Shame, What Can I Do For You? and Are You Lonely? There should at least be live clips of the last two songs including versions performed with Cher on her variety show.
Great reaction, Jay and Amber, some more songs by them: "Some Velvet Morning", "Jackson", "Sundown, Sundown", "Did You Ever", "Lady Bird", "My Elusive Dreams". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.
Did you notice a bit of a James Bond theme in the song? I am not sure, but I wonder if this aired around the time when Nancy Sinatra sang the theme for "You only live twice"
I remember hearing this song as a young girl. Nancy did a few collaborations with Lee Hazelwood including the songs "Jackson" & "Some Velvet Morning". She also had some other hits such as "These Boots Are Made For Walkin' ", "Sugartown" & "Somethin' Stupid" duet with her dad. Nancy recorded the title song from the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice" in 1967. She also starred with Elvis Presley in "Speedway" in 1968.
Ohhhh thank you. This is among my top 5 favorite songs of all time. And Nancy and Lee never made anything but amazing songs together. The sound you hear the the ball launching out of the park for a grand slam home run. Thank you!
Lee Hazelwood was a gem. I wish he would’ve been bigger in his own country (USA). He was definitely huge overseas. “My Autumn’s Done Come” Hits perfectly on getting older. It’s beautiful on a darker level.
They were so good together. One of my favourite album was The Hits Of Nancy & Lee. So many great songs, my favourites are Some Velvet Morning and the bitter sweet Elusive Dreams but ALL of the songs on the album are superb. "I've been Down So Long, It Looks Like Up To Me", "Greenwich Village Folk Song Salesman" & of course the classic song "Jackson" are the real fun songs. You can't go wrong with Nancy & Lee.
Lee wrote this song as well as most, if not all, of Nancy’s songs. Also, Ed Sullivan was friends with Frank Sinatra for a long long time. If I remember correctly, he watched Nancy and Frank Jr. grow up. That’s why Ed is so friendly with Nancy. Another thing. Lee reminds me of Sonny Bono, Cher’s ex-husband, except their voices are totally different.

1:50 Yes, the duet featuring Nancy Sinatra with her very famous father, Frank Sinatra, is really terrific which is a medley of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin' " and "Downtown" (a song made famous by Britain's Petula Clark). It's particularly funny too because Frank Sinatra had a real disdain for new pop songs at the time like "Downtown", so while singing it, he deliberately added a goofy voice when pronouncing the word "downtown" which made Nancy struggle to keep a straight face and even giggle during their performance together. It's also very heartwarming at the end when Frank says, "Yes, sir, that's my baby!" and they embraced and one could see such love between a father and his daughter. It's a wonderful moment available here on UA-cam and I highly recommend watching it. :)
This was on a great album 'Nancy & Lee'. I had it on 8-track (a forgotten tape format) in my van as I drove round London as a young aircon engineer fifty years ago, just married and full of plans. Such a great time!
Have you tried getting Nancy Sinatra for one of your interviews? She is very active on Twitter and also very approachable. I bet she has some stories to tell.

Lee Hazlewood has a collection of songs worth exploring. He also wrote "These Boots Are Made For Walking".
I think somebody called it "Cowboy Psychedelia"
Phaedra
Try the Primal Scream cover. Great song with some cringe lyrics.
Sand is also a good song, so is their version of Jackson.
Love that song. Such a trip
Lee Hazelwood singer songwriter was born in Mannford Oklahoma
I live in Mannford and learned he recorded a song titled Mannford, Ok and it was not very flattering. A lot of the old timers still resent him for it.
Nancy and Lee's "Some Velvet Morning" is eerily beautiful
Their voices compliment each other amazingly!!
Some Velvet Morning is another great song that they did together!

I've always liked 'Jackson' by these two. Originally recorded by the Kingston Trio in 1963. Plenty more versions.

60's female Friday suggestion - "We'll Sing In The Sunshine" by Gale Garnett (a New Zealand born singer).
You really should see the 1968 movie, "Speedway", starring Nancy Sinatra and Elvis. They were phenominal together.
Hehe. If you could call any acting of the King “phenomenal” I suppose this could be it. But that’s a strong word in any case
