Dear Carie, Thank you so much for the tip of using a bulldog clip for a pen holder. Love this because it allows me to carry both a ballpoint and a fountain pen.
I made my own personal size a couple of months ago and I have absolutely loved it ever since. Glad to know that there are now some insert options out there.

Anyways I have been watching repeatedly your videos (I'm hook, love the way you present things) and made me discover the fish inserts...well now 6 mths later you got me changing from a kikki to Filofax malden on now TN...oh boy..lol
I'm in Queensland Australia and it's 'cold', ahem. I hope those who complain about Liam are not parents themselves. He is darling, and I know how hard it is to do ANYTHING with toddlers (I have almost 2 yr old twin boys - boy am I in for a ride!) Fantastic video as always! I loved the one where you were talking and in the background he was in the bottom cabinet where there was a Mixer and he got out the whisk and the batter attachment, closed the door and off into the other room he went lol. One thing I do have trouble with in using my DIY Fish is when I take notes on videos I watch or have ideas I jot down, after a bit of time when I want to go back to them it takes forever to find them again! I hate having to thumb through all my pages and then I give up lol. That then pushes me to think I need a different planner but I love the DIYF Do2P Half Sheet which I spiral bound with my Cinch in groups of 3 months at a time. I use my Cinch as I am Vegetarian and almost everything is leather. :)
Carla Flynn Weems I was forever losing notes I took during the day until I started actively indexing them and/or uploading a snapshot of them to Evernote. The best thing about putting shapshots of those notes into Evernote is their "Related Notes" feature; when I search for something it shows the search results *plus* any notes that might be related to your search terms. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into Evernote looking for one thing and having the Related Notes give me an even better option!
Oh my gosh, I have wanted a personal size midori for months! I had given up on DIYfish v2.2 complete personal set fitting in a custom midori. I don't know why I hadn't considered the other versions. :D

I'm a high school student and I'm about to buy my first planner but I have no idea what kind I want and I want to get one that will work well for me, considering my main sections in it will be based around school, music and journalling (in which my travel journal will be included). What do you think would be best for me? Also I just had this idea that I might theme it either a hippie typed theme or like a 60's retro theme, thoughts? Thanks heaps :)

Like a long in-depth one that covers insert sizes, printable format examples etc. so there is a difinitive resource for people who see our planners and say they want one but have no idea where to start? Or if that video exists and you know of it will you send it to me? I just can't begin to tell folks the hundreds of hours I spent researching the right size and format.

I was wondering when you mentioned dealing with the end of school year for your children how you process all of the end of year school work, art work, award certificates, etc. they bring and how you store it? I only have 3 but their piles of stuff are still sitting on my table waiting for me to sort. Anyway, just thought other parents are probably dealing with this too and just wondering what your process is......
Barbara Gaona That is such a good question! Things that I definitely want to keep (artwork, awards, certain pieces of homework or tests), I snap a photo of and upload to Evernote. I have a large-ish Rubbermaid Tote for each boy, and that's where the things I keep go. :)

cckay80 Hmm... I'm pretty sure that there's a list on the DIYFish Facebook page of people who will print and cut the inserts for you and ship them to you. If you're specifically looking for Fish inserts, that would be your best bet. Otherwise, places like Target might stock calendars in different sizes that might work. Also, maybe a local bookstore has small calendars? This is such a good question!
Hi, thanks for your video. I noticed you have secretary pockets on both sides of the notebook. I'm trying to look for a Chic Sparrow notebook specifically with that feature. I called their customer service and they said don't have that kind. Can you direct me to how you got the two sided secretary pockets? Appreciated very much.

Michelle Davies That can absolutely be done (just print a standard midori-size insert at 82% and it should be close). I used Personal Size inserts from DIYFish because the margins come out just right for me.

I can do that... if it helps, since it's a fairly personalized list (stuff we generally always keep on-hand), I just used a blank personal-size template from www.mylifeallinoneplace.com and typed in my list.
If you add "and Liam" to the titles of your future videos, maybe the people who complain about him will stay away. And if you can, please move the Yearly Insert video to the top of your list. I think the yearly perspective/overview would be helpful, but I'm not sure how to maximize its usefulness.
It's a youth organization in many high schools sponsored by the Kiwanis. They focus on charitable works & community involvement. In most schools it is a coed club but in some schools, if they have enough interest then they'll split the group into a male group (the Key Club) & a female group ( the Keyettes)

I make "Fauxdoris" also in a personal size 4.5" x 6" at www.luxurycardstore.etsy.com I intend to carry 2 larger sizes also, to fill out my store. I have already decided the largest will be 6 x 8.5, large enough to fit 4 Moleskine large Cahiers without sticking out. What would be a good middle size? Or should that be my middle size and I should also carry one larger than that? Please let me know your opinions. Thanks so much in advance....

Lived this! And btw: the sizes are personal (Filofax), portable (Daytimer) and compact (FC, though half an inch wider than the rest)
