@OverPower Ellis "Palicoes aren't cats", You're the one wrong here my guy. Felyne is a species and a Palico is a Felyne that helps hunters during hunts. Understand?
Watching lightning vs kamui is like night and day. Both have increadibly skills, the ones like cats the other like dogs, the ones use a very wide range of materials the other nails foam to the utmost! Both are incredible!
It's night and day because Lightning has a lot more skills . Kamui mostly uses foam and hardly ever uses epoxy resins and professional materials , while Lighting uses pretty much all materials available to Cosplayers and a lot more techniques . Also , Laura can do most of her costume herself , while Svetlana really just relies of Benny doing all the tedious and technical stuff while giving him little credit . Finally , people might find acting silly cute , but i prefer more serious videos like presented by Lightning Cosplay , who doesn't have a super high-pitched voiced . Lightning is an underrated professional Cosplayer , Kamui is a glorified and overrated amateur to semi-pro Cosplayer . At least that's my opinion .
@@Tomcat_Coyote i don't think so. Also i really enjoy both of them they use different materials to a different extend. The end result is great with both of them and i really respect them as they, among a few others, basically made 'modern' cosplaying popular. I got into cosplaying because i saw a post by kamui a few years ago and was fascinated by it. I learned a lot by watching her tutorials. Same goes for lightning. And depending on your Budget- kamui uses cheaper mor commonly available Materials usually. I really find it Challenging to invest into epoxies and casting in general on a home user level.
@@happy14945 As i said , it's just my opinion of course :) I'm not denying that both end results are great , then again , most Cosplayers who have gone full-time make awesome stuff regardless of the materials they use , same goes for several other German prop-makers and cosplayers who aren't near as famous yet make great stuff . I personally don't think i got into Cosplaying because of one or another Cosplayer , i always liked dressing up as a kid and i never stopped dressing up . I think a lot of Kamui's popularity is simply due to the fact that she was one of the first " big time " Cosplayer in Europe , who made the hobby popular through UA-cam despite the fact that a whole lot of people were already Cosplaying before she came along , and now she's " the " reference when it comes to Cosplays in Europe , despite the fact that i personally feel several other Cosplayers are more talented now , such as Lightning Cosplay . I'm on a home user level budget too + i'm a college student , so i know what it feels like to see the price tags for resins , but on the other hand , resin is a long term investment . Foam props , even if sealed with plasti-dip ( and that stuff is expensive as hell too ) will take a beating during transport and degrade overtime , while resin / fiber-glassed props won't take a dent in a dozen years . Making molds is really interesting but only when you know you're going to need several copies of the same item . For a full-time Cosplayer , time is money , and having a mold allows you to cut down a lot of time rather than make 6 times the same stuff from scratch . It may be true that Kamui mostly uses foam , but sometimes she also uses machines that aren't available to anyone but professionals , like when she gets a whole bunch of things laser-cut from acrylic sheets , or uses a CNC to make her Fallout rifle that ended up having almost no scratch-built pieces ... So yeah , tastes and colours , i always preferred to watch Bill Doran ( Punished Props ) when it comes to Foam props , he has so much more videos and they're very well explained . Also , one last thing , Kamui really doesn't take criticism well . I once pointed out a small thing on her almost perfect Inferno Squad costume , and she seemed to be all like " I'm the famous Cosplayer here , i don't need your advice , and i'm too good for Costuming groups . "
@@Tomcat_Coyote they both use different techniques because they make tutorials for different classes. Lighting is for more advanced people and kamui is for beginners. And "your opinion" just sounds like you enjoy lighting more than kamui so kamui is therefore bad and has no skills. You didn't voice your opinion in a sober manner you literally just botched about a cosplayer you didn't like
@@CeeGeeFursuits Right , because laser-cutting and CNC machining are techniques available to beginners ... As i pointed out , one thing i don't like about Kamui is how her tutorials are allegedly for beginners , but when she's in a hurry or she's making something big , all of a sudden she uses industrial equipment , which is a massive letdown when you expect to learn how to make said things with beginners' tools . Also , instead of criticising my opinion , if you had read it properly throughout both of my comments , you'd know that i clearly wrote Kamui makes good props and she does have skills although Lighting is MORE skilled , what i really think is that she's entirely overrated . Those are two very different things .
You make it look SOOOO EASY! I have this one super massive cosplay project that I've wanted to do for like six years but only have experience in sewing while the cosplay project requires a bunch of foam and prop building skills that I just don't have. I was always scared that the pieces would be too heavy for me to wear since they're all so big but seeing this gives me the confidence that maybe I really could pull it off. I need some practice first before I start making anything though haha.
You are very talented. To make something so light, durable but looks heavy and weathered just like the real thing is quite an achievement. Well done, excellent work. Monster Hunter World - Iceborne is my favourite game so I love this. Just clocked 1750 hours so far.

TT i doubt a hobbyist could come up with it I imagine it would require a mechanical expert I mean axe to sword by pressing a button that seems complex as hell
I'm going to try to make one for my mhw cosplay for gamescom next year, but I'm not sure that I will be able to 🤪would be cool to see how the pro make one
It's so fun to see you work with foam. :D That turned out amazing. I'm not going to lie that I miss the days on your channel before 3d printing because it was more interesting to see how something was built, but I understand that technology and just things in the world change and improve.
Awesome build. What other weapon would you want to make next? Another GS? Sword and Shield? Go really abstract and make a gunlance? (Never seen one made by a cosplayer, looks like a hell of an undertaking)
Amaaazing work on all of the step. Really liking this kind of build. The rough cutter , glue and foam combo. Not those overbudget industrial tools crazy build. I mean it’s cool and all, but most people doesn’t have that kind of arsenal. :/ Anyway, happy ICEBORN HUNTING!

Such an amazing process and what an incredible prop! You make magic! Thank you so much for sharing your art with us. And please do pet the kitty for me.
Instead of all that thick foam I would use expanding foam like great stuff or similar on a cardboard base, then carve all the shapes into the foam and add the handle, the horns and the other details with eva foam/pvc
This is freaking insane. I wish I could craft like that.. Do you ever work together with Kamui Cosplay? You both sound like you're from Germany and are both amazing crafters.

You know you've been playing monster hunter too much when she's holding a sword bigger than herself and you see that as completely normal.
Are you telling me, you didn't hunt monsters to make the Great Sword?

theres probably a cat hair in there somewhere, does that count?
