    Most people who post unboxing videos only get excited when they find an expensive book, but Chycho appreciates them all, which makes this so much more fun to watch. Well done!

      Fun! For the record, I usually re-watch these video a day or two after loading them on, that's after hours I spent editing them. Fun to watch in retrospect to see what state of mind i was in during the creation process :)

    congrats on receiving such a nice lot of fantastic old comics in very solid shape there, Chycho! We could see from the smile on your face that you seemed delighted to add these comics to you already incredible collection. but mostly I want to say it makes me really happy to see you settling into your new place. The natural light that comes in is completely amazing. Hope you have many nice calm hours of reading and relaxing with lot of sun and serene bird sounds. Btw the area you filmed punching out that archer and Armstrong stand up is crazy cool. maybe you can give us a full tour one day. peace. :D

      Thank you for the amazing wishes, brother. It's a beautiful location and I definitely plan on creating some amazing little down and reading spaces. I will also slowly be shooting a lot of vids here so for sure you'll be seeing lots of it... on that note, the next video that i'll be loading up next week will be about how i'm managing these boxes of comics.

    These videos mean so much to me chycho, thank you. Listening to you is so relaxing. I am struggling with depression and anxiety but for an hour 22 minutes my mind was completely serene. It's almost like a form of meditation, or Mindfulness. Thank you.

    That star spangled comics book is just awesome, I'm so jealous over the price of that one nice job. I watched the whole video and really enjoyed the cartoon covers. I find it interesting how little Disney and Loony Tune books can sell for times because mainly you will see them really marked up.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      Thanks, Capn. I was super happy on the buy as well. As for the cartoon books, I absolutely love them. Some of their covers just put a huge smile on my face, the Rootie Kazootie cover was absolutely beautiful from this batch.... and since the books aren't considered "hot", they are selling at a ridiculously low price, less than $2 for some of these books, Awesome! :)

    • @PhillipCummingsUSA
      @PhillipCummingsUSA 8 років тому

      I always buy golden age books of those if the books have attached covers if they are priced at a $1 at book stores etc.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      Me too. I wish I had more funds, I'd be grabbing a lot more of these books. I think they are incredibly important as well as beautiful, all the pre-code anyway.

    • @PhillipCummingsUSA
      @PhillipCummingsUSA 8 років тому

      Yeah I don't buy any of the 70's or later for the fact of space reasons.

    I believe the top staple automatically takes it down to a 6.0 or 7.0. I know Etanick, a youtuber did an indepth grading series on his channel going through that whole process.

      Cool, good to know. At some point I'll put a little list together for myself with all the major hits. Crazy grading system they've developed.

    Hey chycho, not sure if you remember me, just wanted to update you, I bought Justice League of America 25 and X-Men 17 the other day and they came. Still trying to zero in on some early Daredevil comics, but I found those at a great price and had to pick them up.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      Early Justice League and X-Men, at a great price, nice buys! Right now for some reason it's a great time to be buying books that aren't considered "hot"... if you're patient and look around you will find some great deals.... not sure how long that will last though so happy buying :)
      As for early daredevils, the prices on those are slowly starting to climb up, we'll see what happens as Netflix grows their Marvel based series. So far so good, amazing first two seasons and Jessica Jones blew away my expectations.

    • @ryanhendrymusic
      @ryanhendrymusic 8 років тому

      +chycho See that is why I want Netflix, I'm like the only one out of everyone I know who has not seen it yet

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому

      +Eclipse Band You are in for a treat when you do watch, it was everything everyone was hoping for and more. Blew away expectations... by the way, one word, torrent.... and when you can afford it make sure you support what you love.... that's legit in my book.

      I have some Atlas, my first comic book reading was actually an Atlas book, Mystic #6, Basil Wolverton's 'The Eye of Doom!' ua-cam.com/video/6rkZzsrVQsU/v-deo.html
      As for Atlas, I may have one or two kicking around, wouldn't be more than that though. I'll work on getting more ;)

    another awesome video chycho! great haul! I'm curious as to who the ebay seller is?! maybe post it so we can support them?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      +TheBolivian3 Sure thing, I actually ended up buying another 60+ books off of him in the last couple of weeks as well, his user name is magyar1261 ... his feedback rating has gone up a lot in the last few weeks as well...just keep in mind that there are a lot of smaller sellers on ebay that are worth checking out... i might also do another comic book haul vid once the next set arrives as well :)
      on that note, hope the bidding wars don't start now since i like buying from him, but he is a very nice seller so i hope he gets premium prices for his books.

      As for who I am and what brought me here, as with everyone it's a very long story. I've dropped a few hints here and there. maybe one day i'll do a Q&A and answer as many questions as I can... hmmm... not a bad idea actually. Until then, on my About Page on my site I do provide some info if you're interested:

    Did you get to read Tokyo Ghost 6? It came out yesturday...so good!!

    • @chycho

      +Nicolas Caicedo No I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Can't wait, great series so far :)

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому

      +Nicolas Caicedo Just read it. WOW! What an amazing issue. Fantastic! So much goodness in that issue, so much... and now we know why the series is called Tokyo Ghost... what a great time to be alive and a comic book fan :)

    • @nicolascaicedo7274
      @nicolascaicedo7274 8 років тому

      I know!! not a lot of people understand how good this book is. I knew you were going to love the issue. I love Debbie, and to see such an evolution from that character is amazing.
      I hope the series continues as strong as it started!

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому

      +Nicolas Caicedo I hope it continues on this path. In 6 issues it's done so much. I would even go as far as saying that every issue is topping the next so I really can't see that slowing down any time soon and i hope it never does.
      As for the love this book gets, totally agree. I compare this series to some of the top selling books and my brain short circuits. It's like people are passing up watching "Blade Runner" so that they can watch "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" for the 20th time.

    • @nicolascaicedo7274
      @nicolascaicedo7274 8 років тому

      Rick Remender is just killing it with the book. Every issue he puts out makes the story more profound, and makes the world of Tokyo Ghost more interesting.
      If you enjoy super heroes as much as you enjoy independent books, i recommend you read the new Spider Man book (miles morales). Michael Bendis writes that book in an amazing way, and the art is just gorgeous, give it a try!!

  • @TheBr1gand
    @TheBr1gand 8 років тому

    Do you resell some of these books too? You seem to buy tons.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      +TheBr1gand I haven't sold comics for a very long time, over 15 years or so. I will be at some point though. I want to get rid of some doubles and triples and what not and buy some books that I don't have so it'll be a good way to transfer funds from certain books to others.

  • @akou12
    @akou12 8 років тому +1

    do you read and collect manga?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      I've read some manga, I don't actively collect it though. The ones I've read that stand out for me are Akira, Tekkonkinkreet, and Lone Wolf and Cub. All three were absolutely amazing.... and of course I've read some Battle of the Planets - fun.
      I am also a huge animation fan, both movies and series. IMHO, I believe that some of the greatest stories ever told have been through animation. Epic really.

  • @noinch
    @noinch 8 років тому

    Didn't you *just* move? The framing series was during a move, yes?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому

      framing of the comic books a year ago or so... pretty much... I've done way too many moves in the last few years. Purging and exercise... keeps me on my toes :)

    • @noinch
      @noinch 8 років тому

      You got some art and you did a video series on how to hang it. I thought that happened after a move, no? Then again, I'm usually asleep by the time you finish, so what do I know? ;-)

    • @chycho
      @chycho  8 років тому +1

      Oh yes, that's right. That was a mini move last year. Love those three pieces and they will definitely be going up in our new and hopefully more permanent space. We've actually ended up moving two blocks away from where that was. Good memory by the way :)
