i have done this with wax paper in the face mask, and a fogger. the tunnel at the end was a plastic draine pipe that was a little smaller and we were not allowed to use webbing. we just had to do a two man shoulder drag till the tunnel then that one had to get him through. all in all hard course.
Man y'all were lucky we did the Pittsburgh drill today and had to pull a live firefighter through 2 55 gallon drums welded together which is a lot tighter than that contraption y'all had and not to mention we were blacked out pulling him through our burn building around corners and shit
That was a prototype one of the guys was developing; however, we most often just use wax paper. Tear off a piece half again as large as your face piece and then crumple it up, then un-crumple and place inside your mask ... you can't see but can tell light from dark. Inexpensive but very effective!
***** yaks6312 Check out "Glad Press'n Seal" wrap. Just tear/cut to size and press it onto the outside of your mask. Blurry as all hell and pretty realistic. We used it over a few evolutions of mayday drills early this week and were extremely impressed.
Idk if I can do what my husband does. I tried on the gear, helmet, and air pack. I tried on the mask too, except. This one was a training mask , not an actual one. It had dusty lens with no air pack. And I felt like I couldn't breath and practically ripped it off my head and threw it across the station right after he put it on me. It scared me cuz I felt like I couldn't breath
Trey is the man,... and who wouldn't be with a stache like that! Thanks for another good video Trey.
Wonderful insight into firemen training and what they face in that dangerous occupation. Y'all have my respect - and prayers!
Awesome work guys, I got that coming up in the next couple weeks at the fire academy.
Excellent quality training & video! Keep up the good work Nashville!
Just did this today at the Mississippi State Fire Academy... at 2pm in the middle of August. So fun... lol
I am going to build these props so we can do it here. Would you recommend us doing it without blurred vision a few times first?
Randy Ayo we did ours blacked out first time.

When we used this RIT drill at the Pittsburgh Fire Academy, we just used a nomex hood turned backwards to blur the face piece.
