    Simple enough, good practice, and effective.

    Knot to be "that guy" but at least three of those knots are plain clinch knots, knot uni knots. I'm talking leader to fly line (2:28) and tippet ring to leader (3:48) and tippet to tippet ring ( 4:20). BTW: I'm sure you know this but for those who don't there is an "improved clinch knot" that gives about 15% more strength with one minor addition. I love tippet rings. Been using them for several years now. Keeps your leader usable for a long time. Only need to replace tippet unless leader gets brittle or nicked.

    Hey Robert
    A little tip
    If you tying and extra knot between the dropper and the Main fly in your tippetring, you Will get less tangle om this setup.

      @@lethuliv5500 The extra knot has no connection to the other lines. Just tie in another piece of tippet but cut it off so it is just a few millimeters long. It should be between the dropper tippet and the tippet to the end fly. If you DM me on Instagram I can send a picture.

    Can i ask, why did you cut the loop knot on the leader to re-knot it ? Are the loop knots weak in some way?

    Hi Robert, thanks for the great videoes. One question, why do you not use the Perfection loop knot on the flies? I find it so strong and easy, both with flou when seatrout fishing, and wire for the pikes. Best regards, Michael

    We see you fishing for sea trout.
    How do you choose a place to fish for them.
    Is it just any shore!
    Is it an estuary?
    Can you catch them anywhere?
    Is it all year round??
    I was always told sea trout are more active in the dark!!

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому

      Sea trout is one of the most accesable fish to find in Scandinavia. Regulations are different in different areas. Where I live it is all year and basically just any shore depending on weather and wind. There is no big estuaries here so fishing is not better at them. I have a plan to make a night fishing video, let's see how it goes 😇

    Hi Robert,
    Another great video from you :)
    What is the benefit of using Tippet Rings instead of a loop to loop connection?
    Greetings from Denmark

    • @kasperwittrup1288
      @kasperwittrup1288 3 роки тому +1

      I can see the benefit when using small leaders and tippet. Ive had small tippets "cut" the leader line when setting the hook (I could see it was the leader and not tippet that broke). I doubt it can cut a metal ring. :)

      Hello. Thank you, glad you like it! You are probably someone that already found something that works for you and you should keep doing it 👊😇 tippet rings are something I never thought I would use but I decided to try it and removes a lot of frustration and it is easy to maintain and replace tippet

    Thank you so much for the video, was always curious of your leader setup, thank you so much for sharing, very helpful. Question do you use a Sinktip attach at you floating line some times or do you never add a sink tip to your fly line? I bought a few there to add to my floating line but don't really know if necessary, what you suggest?

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому +2

      In the scenarios you see me do sea trout fishing in these videos I don't use any sink tips. I target the fish that swim into the very most shallow water. The floating line is perfect for that.

      I use to go for my full "wingspan" of tippet (about 180 cm) But it depends on what line and if it is very windy. A longer front taper on the line or shooting heads tends to have a weaker turnover so you cant have the same length then. But I always use a minimum of 1.5 meters.

    And what type of rod do you use for that specific setup ?

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому

      Hello. Yes, I sometimes use an eight-weight line. But it is mostly just with that line. I find it to work well. I would encourage more people to try their lines and rods together outside of what the aftm system says is the right line. Underlining and overlining rods is something I do a lot. If you would have to match the line all the time I would have to have hundreds of lines. Often it is just one or two grams difference in a belly of 6, 7, 8 weight lines. Try on a field to do a blind test of lines and rods you own ad see how it feels. After I did that I started underlining for much of my summer fishing.

      To prevent this you can tie a separate knot in between the two leader parts. I learned that from the comment feed here 👍 it works great.

    Har en fråga!
    Tycker du att regn påverkar havsöringsfisket?

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому +1

      Jag tycker det inte har så stor betydelse för mitt fiske om det regnar. Hur menar du att det skulle påverka?

    • @niklasandersson4049
      @niklasandersson4049 3 роки тому

      Jag tänkte på om det skulle vara sämre fiske, om dom tex. skulle bli skygga när det smattrar på ytan av regnet så dom blir svårare till hugga?? Tänkte höra vad du har för erfarenhet. Om du kan minnas att när du varit ute i regn, tycker du att det varit sämre då. En kompis till mig säger att det är dåligt, men han kan inte säga varför. Du är ju guide, du har många timmar som havsöringsfiskare med fluga. Jag flugfiskar själv men bara gjort i snart 3 år.

    why you are not using XO 100 line ?

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому +1

      The only thing xo and xo 100 have that is similar is the name. Xo 100 is a normal belly wf line and I cast with much better control with a long belly line. This is my absolute favorite line 👌

    • @stasmaksimov9531
      @stasmaksimov9531 3 роки тому

      @@FlyFishingbyRobert ok, so line with long belly much sutable for extreme long cast, is’t it? Have you tested the new Meri flyline? Thanks.

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  3 роки тому +1

      @@stasmaksimov9531 Yes and No. The only thing I can say is that a longer belly extends the range of an accurate presentation compared to a short head. It doesn't necessarily cast further than other lines even if long belly lines often are marketed as such. It is commonly misunderstood what the original XO line is. It is not designed as a traditional long belly line, a normal long belly is often a pain to cast short distances and doing roll casts. Read the information about the line on Vision's website if you want to learn more. I have tried almost all Meri lines now. They seem to be very nice. I still haven't tried the final version of the slowmo tip. That's the one I'm most excited for that can bring something new to my fishing.
