Evening all That’s a super video All hands on deck. The season is coming to a close. Has been wonderful to watch you all at work over this season. Best regards to one and all.
I didn't realize that you have agri king silage preservative over there!! I put 40 bags of that exact same product through my chopper this year chopping maize 🌽. We are here in the 🇺🇸 Wisconsin. Agri- king head office is only a few hours away. Our family has visited it. It's a great product!!
Ansolute great news bros on the road now he will soon start getting more passionate bout farming now for sure especially now he can get out on road doing the carting..
It took me a minute to remind myself of the difference in latitude when you were talking about having to use plastic... It's good to see that you had a good yield. Differences in the farming like that is just one good example of why I like watching... Best wishes from here in the U.S.!
We also sell film for maize in USA also, in Wisconsin we have a few machine and a lot of them in Canada also. what part of US are you based in? is it grain or forage maize you are growing?
That’s a point- drivers license. I worked for 3 farmers and a contractor in Cornwall. I drove thousands of miles on road hauling or between fields. For a couple of weeks I had a learner plate of my Fiat 780 and for the next 10 years we didn’t bother with one- I never got a full license on anything but a motorcycle. On getting to the US I learned to drive a car, driving up the east coast. We then convinced an insurance company my full motorcycle was full everything to get a good rate. In my little corner of New England some farmers don’t cut until the plant is dried up.
18.51 ; Bertie could easily have become part of the winter diet, much as I hate saying it. Tip for the future, always look around for the movement of small feet 🦶 or better still, lock them in altogether. Great video as always Phil
Phil yet another day your uncle is prepared for the day and the college graduate doesn't even have a knife 🤣🤣we have a rule here you have a quick change knife, a backup, flashlight and a Leatherman quick tool or your not ready for the day 🤣🤣 6ft corn is heavy over there? Over here depending on where you are at it can be 5ft or it can be 12 ft just depends but crop looks good 👍 I think there is more in that stalk then you think but the 🌽 is the best great video
Great video and good to see you grow all your own feed for the cattle. And a big good on you for taking part on the mental health talk there is an answer to every problem sometimes you have to Stand back and let it over your head and find a way that works for you
Hi Phil, I only came across your channel by chance the other day and have spent hours catching up with some of your videos, I love ❤️ the way your family pulls together to get the job done, also love the way you run all your own gear, yes it might not be new but I bet it’s paid for 😂😂, anyway your becoming one of my favourite channels on UA-cam 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Have you ever thought of sharpening the knives and setting the shear bar, it might chop the stuff not just chew it a bit. Will save a lot of diesel as well .
I'm no farmer, but I keep six ex-battery/rescue hens for their eggs. I bet my ladies would love to spend a month picking over your maize field, Phil! 🌽🐔 👀
Finally the maize is ready to cut!! And it was worth the wait!! Great video Phil!!! Where was the newer Massey guy with broughan trailer for this years cut?
Oh my Farmer Phil, it is my Sunday morning here, and what do I see, you cutting maize. I have never seen this before. We get our fresh corn the end of August in our grocery stores in Florida. I don't know what I was thinking when I saw the harvester pumping the sileage into the trailers, but it wasn't the stalks and the corn all chopped together that I saw in the sileage pit. Wow! When you start feeding this out you will need to explain to us non-farmers how you feed it out and how much. With the starch and carbohydrates in corn, it should put some really juicy fat on the stock. Adrian (I Farm We Farm) was worried about cutting his hedges because of the wire... Thank you again for an excellent video. I AM enjoyin' watchin' your hair grow again this Winter. Blessings... When will the pumpkins be ready, Liv?
I’d say a jcb 419 would suit the farm perfectly. Don’t think it’s much taller than the 416 and would have abit more power for pushing up silage and maize if ye ever get a bigger buckrake in the future
50€ a tonne for maize delivered to the pit down here Phil Would you look at growing it without plastic? The open varieties are very good now, would save another 120€ an acre
@@matthewshine4056 grew maize for several years without plastic and it did very well on good years but like all maize crops plastic or not the weather at harvest was the problem, never regular. In South cork I was and it was warm enough ,had crops 7-8 tons dm. Never needed plastic.
Lovely video .Nice lookig maize crop.just an observation. Why do you need to have to get a loader like the JCB into any cattle shed when there are more loaders on the farm ?
It's a lot easier to drive jcb loader with forad reverse switch on joystick. All you want is big wheels and tyres on the loader. It dose a better job for rolling the pit
Nice job Phil, good looking crop. Did ye hit the 25t an acre mark?? Hope you told bro the most important thing of all, if you're to knock a pillar knock it on the first trip in the gap 😂
Hi Phil , I love your videos ! I was wondering that the mais looks a bit roughly cut , is that on purpose or is it just some large leaves that make it seem so ?
good to see the your bro out on the road now no stopping him
Thanks for having us down Phil, it was great to finally catch up again!
When is the video up conor?
@@ritchiemullins6384 Next Sunday.
@@ConorryanVideos thank u conor
16:42 There's nobody I'd rather have on the job than a Steady Eddie, rushing is what causes accidents. Fair play Bro.
Agreed, im able to wind so many people up!
But danger never takes a day off boys! & girls!
Liked it when uncle lan brought out the sissers. Going to snip his way through the maize 😄
Cheers for the shoutout Phil. The sling will come in handy for pulling in a vintages into the shed for winter projects😂😂😂
Oh man the groul out of the 3690 is absolutely savage, love the sound from the straight pipe.
Looking forward to seeing the turf getting moved. 👍🏼
A great video Phil you did a fine tasty job in the pit what a lovely shovel well done to all the crew

Single ram in the front of a volvo is d way to go Phil. Far more visibility when on a pit when compared to jcb

Great to see the maize done. The inside cab on the 435 looks amazing
Loved the maize 🌽 silage 2021 video and also the jcb 435 loading shovel what a beast of a machine on the pit (clamp)
Loved this video, and congratulations to Eric on getting his licence.
The 3690 sounds awesome what a beast

Flat out with no time and other jobs on the list Cracking 😉😁😜. Great work on the videos. stay safe 🏴
Well done !!!
Great video as always Phil 👍
Cracking video, love seeing maize harvest. Why on earth would Uncle have a pair of scissors in his pocket?? Good name for bro, steady eddy lmao
There fierce handy for cutting a silage sheet much better than a knife!
If you are thinking of getting a good loader look at the tm320 you would be surprised how good they are for pits and shed work
cant beat a proper loading shovel .......built for abuse from the very start ...........
The TM are a super machine but are they less stable due to the central pivot on uneven ground for example on a pit??
I’d say a jcb 419 would suit the farm perfectly. Don’t think it’s much taller than the 416 and would have abit more power for pushing up silage and maize if ye ever get a bigger buckrake in the future
Looking well phil!!!!!
Alot of work to get that corn 🌽 crop in . But if it saves you a bunch of money yes ! . The cows will love it . Yes in America we call it corn .
50€ a tonne for maize delivered to the pit down here Phil
Would you look at growing it without plastic? The open varieties are very good now, would save another 120€ an acre
That would depend on location, no? Need the plastic for the greenhouse effect or else it'll just sit in the cold ground and rot.
@@OOpSjm your right, 90% of maize in Ireland with grown using SAMCO degradable film. No point really growing without film
@@matthewshine4056 grew maize for several years without plastic and it did very well on good years but like all maize crops plastic or not the weather at harvest was the problem, never regular. In South cork I was and it was warm enough ,had crops 7-8 tons dm. Never needed plastic.

That was an amazing maize crop.🤣

Lovely video .Nice lookig maize crop.just an observation. Why do you need to have to get a loader like the JCB into any cattle shed when there are more loaders on the farm ?
We get maize grown for us on contract and it costs €55 a ton in the pit

Excellent, what ratio will the maze feed be, with silage, will you make that crop/cut last all winter
Hi Phil will you grow any beet again
re bonjour une très belle vidéo comme d hab 😍👍👍👍
19t in a 24ft trailer at 35% dry matter 17t in 22ft so there won’t be 16t in them trailers
Great vid as always! :D
Is father letting bro off in the 205?

Hey Phil
Just wondering what course in college do u have to do to start a maize farm becuase I'm thinking of starting one when in older 🤔
In ireland your not required to do a course at all
Is bro aka 'steady Eddie' going to join the family business when he finally finishes school
Hi Phil , I love your videos !
I was wondering that the mais looks a bit roughly cut , is that on purpose or is it just some large leaves that make it seem so ?
I was cutting corn in the middle of October
