- Join us for night 2 on our Astrophotography Road Trip to Photograph the Milky Way in Eifel National Park in Germany. Although the weather forecast remained dubious in entire Europe, it seemed that the region we were in the night before was THE place to be if we would have any chance for another nightscape imaging session. So that's exactly what we did!
We scout for compositions at a waterfall, meet an astrophotography celebrity, visit a spooky castle ruin, find out that a watch tower is harder to photograph than we anticipated and get an unwanted hitchhiker in our car. But most of all, we realized we were incredibly lucky again, getting clear skies exactly where and when it mattered the most! We thoroughly enjoyed our time under the night sky!

Do you have any astrophotography trips planned?
I booked flights to Las Vegas for August yesterday. I can't wait to drive to Death Valley and enjoy much better night skies than the Netherlands. I've never photographed darker than bortle 4 yet..

@@StarScaperPhoto Haha yes I hope so too! 😅I planned the week around new moon. Only depending on cloud cover, although I don't expect much clouds in a desert. Let's hope I come home with some amazing photos

Haha! It was the car of Martijns wife. He vacuumed and cleaned it thoroughly after the trip but didn't find the spider. Don't let her know though 😅.

@@matej.mlakar thanks man! It both has its charms but I think I definately prefer to share the experience with a buddy or 2. I didn't have my camera running while we were making sky exposures but believe me that we sounded like a hyped up happy bunch for 2 hours straight, no matter how sleep deprived we were 😄.

I have to admin, the tele shoots look very nice. I almost regret selling all the smaller trackers in the past. Maybe it´s time for a little upgrade :)
Used to take images near the belgium border, dark enough most of the time. Some specs would be very cool, for the tech savy guys between us :)
Thanks! Shooting the milky way a bit deeper on a small tracker often results in nice results, I agree! Belgian border you mean the region between Eifel en High Fens I imagine? That looks very nice and is still on my wishlist. After this vlog I reverted back to always include the tech notes under the images, following up on requests of viewers. After doing this more often you tend to think the tech specs are not that interesting anymore: on a tracker it's basically always f4, iso 1600 ish and exposure time just until you get a nice histogram which peaks at the left third basically 😉. But anyhow: they're back! 👍
