Kuchipudi : beautiful expressions fast ness ..garce Baharatnatyam :perfection grace angle maintainance Odissii :every pose is like a idol on temple Kathak: happiness moment fastness incridble rolling
I'm not Indian but very much in-love and watching Indian dance for the past few weeks. Most of the time, the costume tells me what kind of dance to expect. But honestly, if it were not for the white circular hair ornament of Odissi, I could not tell its difference with Kuchipudi. As for the choreography: Bharatanatyam - very strong execution (e.g. arm and leg angular thrusts, foot stomping) ; dancer's knees are often half bent ; does the "frog hop" dance ; torso is mostly stiff thru the performance and does not bend nor does much wave motions ; few stops for posing Kathak - lots of spinning ; arms movements interpret the song but the chorus often have repetitive moves ; there seems to be 2 versions: (1) soft, and (2) sharp. In the "soft version", the women dance with free flowing hair and hand movements are wavy (this is often the style of "mother" type dancers). In the "sharp version", the women's hair is braided with more ornaments and hand movements are faster and stronger (like that in Alia's Kalank). Did I mention lots of spinning? Kuchipudi and Odissi -- both are "softer" versions of Bharatanatyam. More body bending and wavy arm movements. Head movements. Again, honestly I could hardly tell their difference. Feel free to comment and I admit I may have gotten a few things wrong so pls I'm sorry and still learning. But surely I love India art culture!
@@mocabe01odissi is independently developed.. it's not any version of Bharatnatyam,!!! And Kuchipudi is very very different from Odissi.. there's no Torso left to right movement in any other dance form than Odissi.. kuchipudi is similar to Bharatnatyam.. steps of odissi is minimal.. overall body movement is more but bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi foot movements are fast!
A real treat to our eyes. So graceful is the performance and done with so much of ease. Needless to mention about the choreography, orchestration and the backdrop. Fabulous!

Every Classical Dance is very very difficult in their own way! You can't do perfect chouka tribhanga bhaksha chalana without years of practice in odissi.. it takes years to get perfect aramandi in bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi.. dancing on plates in Kuchipudi requires more than 10 years practice.. spinning chakkars and vast footwork of kathal takes ages!
@@RR-wp8jtit's old dance... dedicated to lord Krishna..it ultered a bit due to muslims Persian influence but it also from natya shastra.. earliest documentation is way before islamic invasion.. technically kuchipudi is the newest from 16th ce....odissi is really old dance probably the oldest , bharatnatyam would be same or close
Please help me. I've been watching indian classical dances for a while on youtube. I know that the yellow woman dance odissi. The green woman dance kathak. But I can't tell for the 2 other women... Their moves look soo alike...
I would like to add something, that one way of differentiating the two dance forms is by the costume- in Bharatanatyam costume typically, there is a 'fan' in the front along the waist, whereas in Kuchipudi, it is absent! Also, there are small differences in the foot and arm placements which only a trained eye can make out! Both the dances are excellent in their own way! Although, nowadays dance costumes of each style are varied according to the need of the dancer and dance portrayal!
Well everything is difficult but kathak is not as difficult as rest three. Odissi need a great amount of facial expressions and soft body moment. Which is really too difficult to do. Bharatnatyam need a great arch body posture and sharp moves
Kuchipudi is very difficult. I don't have experience in other dance forms. But I remember during my school days even after a half an hour Kuchipudi dance class my feet and hands would be dead. It's also difficult because the foot and the hand and face expressions coordination is very difficult as compared to western dance. It requires a lot of patience.
