IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad is the continuation of the legendary IL-2 Sturmovik series that has set the standard for PC combat flight games for more than ten years. Action takes place on a 358 х 230 km map - The largest and most detailed recreation of the Battle of Stalingrad theatre ever modeled in a flight simulation with unique structures, buildings and landscapes.
Single-Player Campaign scenario follows the real chronology of the battle starting with Operation Uranus on November 19th, 1942 and continues to the complete liberation of the city on February 2nd, 1943.

Arses! Good intense mission, started so well with those 2 Stuka kills. Good old Trofim, even in death, he's still getting manoeuvre kills on his enemies.
Yeah, I was going to comment on that. The game AI is ridiculously stupid at times when it comes to low level combat. It prioritized downing Trofin over personal safety, hence the 109 that got our Trofin promptly flew into the forest with no chance of pulling out of his death dive. Unfortunate, but like I posted earlier, totally unnecessary if Taff had not gambled with Trofin's life.
Trofim needed to bail out.
That said, taking those last two 109s with him, on the way out, was a good way to go.

In a semi-unresponsive aircraft with serious pilot wounds over friendly lines, you should have bailed out so that we could have more episodes of our hero Trofim!
I would have belly landed if not bailed out the second I was over friendly lines if I was seeing grey and still getting shot at by 109's
Those goddamn La-5s, man.
Nothing wrong with the La-5 if it's flown the way it was meant to be flown ... as a boom and zoomer; it's not a turn fighter, and Taff, as usual, got tunnel vision attacking the Stukas and neglected to check his six until it was too late. It's a pretty elementary mistake to make.
The lad wanted to get his aircraft back. Respect and RIP young man.

Wow didn't realise how tough these planes were. Almost indestructible when hitting the ground at speed. At least the guy who finished you off went down as well.
The 109 that clobbered Trofim had at least a couple of his squad mates with him. Trofim stood no chance once he was hit. He should have bailed out when he had the height to do so safely.
Please do an FW 190 campaign now, that would be very cool.

Yeah not gonna lie, that’s exactly what I was thinking too. My 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th instinct would have been to bail out, or at the very least ditch at the airfield. This just looked super deliberate to me. :/

Good shot on that first Stuka, killed the pilot outright, but you should have bailed out once the 109 had wounded your pilot. In that state of health, you had no chance against those 109s. Yes you managed to get a manoeuvre kill on one of them, but the other two were all over you like a rash.
At least the BF-109 that shot you down crashed with you

A damn fine series Taff. Actually the final tally should have been 37 aircraft, the last being the 109 as a maneuver kill.
As for the next series, any you choose will be fine by me, although I really would have liked the Soviet Yak-1. P.S., please no bombers...you are a fighter pilot!
I would’ve put that bird down ASAP when I got near base. Sure it may be a crash landing with enemy fire around you but you could escape the plane.
I would have gear up landed on or near the airfield if it was me.

no explosion by ground collision? It seems like Taff wanted to end this Series quickly with these types of settings and not get out when torn apart by the 109 like this..better luck in the next IL2 series :)

Cracking series...re the cries of bailing out and wanting to end the series etc...i don't recall Trofin ever bailing out? Had some pretty bad scrapes and always managed to nurse the plane home in the end. Great series, I'd love to see a Bodenplatte career, maybe in the P38 or P51? Or even a career as a Stuka pilot?!
Why didn't you bail out? Tired of the series? Anyway, good series.

Gregoriy Muravyov, Zinoviy Kotov, and Dmitriy Popkov standing with Taffim Tafinsky family (assuming they survive the war, had another child, and survive the purge). Gregoriy Muravyov, Zinoviy Kotov, and Dmitriy Popkov paying their respects with their medal gave Taffim Tafinsky the 27th fighter regiment badge in his grave along with flowers saying along the lines,"I know he was a daredevil I've known him since his transfer to the Stalingrad front surprise that I'll be fighting with an ace fighter top 1 in the soviet union even joke he'll be executed by Stalin and I'll get all the glory." Says Zinoviy Kotov then Gregoriy Muravyov as deputy drops down crying says in his sad voice, "I was his deputy commander and I failed the soviet union, I let the hero of the soviet union ace die while on a mission he knew the risk yet he took it but never in my life I regretted losing the pride of the country ace." He stands up then give him a salute,"My dear friend Taffim Tafinsky, I deputy Gregoriy Muravyov was an honor to fly with an ace, comrade enjoy flying in the fields of Stalingrad and Moscow I will be with you soon." ends the salute a few years later here lies the 27th fighter regiment then somewhere in heave flies Taffim Tafinsky along with his 27th regiment friends in an LA-5 in the skies of Moscow flying victory day "война наконец закончилась!!" fires flares in the air

Thank you for this series. I really enjoyed it, and I appreciate the time you put into making these videos.
But let’s be completely honest here, that was a totally deliberate killing of this series and I’m extremely disappointed. There was absolutely no way for you to justify not bailing out or ditching when you were first hit and moving on to the next mission. Honestly, I would have been way less disappointed if you just came out and said you were burnt out from this series and wanted to move onto something new or even just put it on pause. I would have respected that decision a lot more than the one you ended up making.
As I said once before, you are not respecting your pilot. Pilots have parachutes for a reason you know.

Looks to me like you purposely killed this series Taff. A smart man would have bailed out, especially since you were over friendly territory. What a waste. I was really looking forward to seeing this series progress further. Very disappointing 😡
In reality, a badly wounded pilot on the Eastern Front would probably have died before reaching a field hospital. Unlike the Western armed services, medical care was not top priority for the Soviets, so field hospitals would be few and far between. So this is not an unfitting end.
Ima gonna call BS on that, you could have bailed (5 mins) over friendly territory any time you wanted and guaranteed surviving. Landing was always marginal. I think you just wanted to get it over with. Sorry but that's how it look's. Still a fan, but just announce your done with the campaign.
First, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed this series, like most of all your past flight vids. They are very involving and I always looked forward to the next. Secondly, Taff, you are an idiot. Three times over. 1) You picked a fighter that was clearly outmatched in the skies and once you realized this, you should have transferred Trofin out of the suicide flight (over 10 missions ago). 2) You became increasingly aware that the plane was outmatched given how many times it was nearly shot out of the air, especially in recent missions, because we viewers told you. You even acknowledged that Trofin was going to transfer soon, but was going to stick it out for a few more missions - several mission ago. At that point you signed his death warrant. Lastly, in this mission, after Trofin's plane was nearly shot out of the sky and he was seriously injured, you made the choice to continue on, possibly to the base. That plane was already a total loss. The highest priority is to save the pilot. He should have bailed as he neared the base or even earlier. Taff, you squandered the best ace in the Soviet Air Force with bad decision after bad. So sad. Good thing you weren't flight leader. You probably would have killed off the entire pilot roster. LOL, all good, though. All in fun. Love your vids, dude!

You flew mostly pretty bad on this series, no offense, but you were way too reckless just jumping in fights and comiting hard to tons of turnfights and loosing situational awareness, its a miracle you made through 31 sorties. Kinda being an ahole here, backseat gaming, I'm sorry, but realy, its a bit infuriating to watch.
