Grew up with this band. James Hetfield actually went to my High School (Bre Olinda in SoCal - Close to Disneyland in Anaheim). I was a senior jock when Hetfield was a freshman, so had no idea who he was, but my younger brother knew him. They are a metal barometer
I have been there. Master of Puppets Was the last Song, after playing in the middle of a Thunderstorm for over 40 minutes. 75000 People in the crowd. No one left.
Metallica was the reason I started playing guitar 1994. I stopped 2000. Istarted again 2022 after my Mothers sudden and unexpected passing. Metallica has carried me over some hard times.
My condolences to you and your family. Guitar has gotten me through some hard times as well. I started playing in 1995. Stay strong and keep rocking brother 🤘✝️
@@guitaratfourty same. I was on leave for two surgeries and some kind of monster was the first thing I saw about them, and I cried… Man they have been through a lot. And they’re still together… now I’m a fan.
Metallica is the first metal band to play to more than a million people in Russia. Playing in the pouring rain and not quitting makes them even greater. ❤
Their ages at this show: James and Lars were 60, Kirk 61, and Rob 59. Awesome performance for those ages in those conditions: heavy sheets of rain, lightning, plus the cold. And it messed with Kirk's guitar so much that he had to switch in the middle.
With time passing and advances in technology and more understanding of physics regarding energy and electricity... yeah... the danger is not 0, because the people making the preparations are still human and can make mistakes. But in general, yeah, you can make it pretty safe. There was a time when a concert in the rain was a "no go". ... But today... I'd worry more about catching a cold.
Just about everything is wireless these days which means battery powered radio transmitters. Low voltage batteries. I wouldn't have recommended it 20 years ago. If you notice, there aren't any cables to their guitars or the microphones.
Never will there be a band that outshines or outlasts Metallica. I have also watched them play this one in pouring rain Manchester England. It beggars belief how their equipment keeps going and that nobody gets electrocuted in all that water.
James Hetfield almost died during a performance and it was completely dry outside. He walked into a pyrotechnic while playing fade to Black.. in Axl Rose did not make it any better. I think Montreal just recently forgave guns n' roses for that..😂.1992 was a rough year.
@MrsRealistic Axl has serious health mental health issues that is... he said himself he should not have even been on tour , he should have been in somebody's facility and he was right.. I'm glad he got help because I've seen them twice in 2017 and 2021..
Axl was one of the best voices in rock for sure. A lot of people probably don't realize what an amazing range he had. Years of touring and partying can definitely take their toll. But I don't think they were actually touring together when James got burned. They had just been on "vacation" with them in Mexico.
@ Montreal, 1992. After James was rushed to the hospital and Metallica couldn’t finish playing Guns N’ Roses came out for a few minutes until Axl said his voice was acting up or the hearing wasn’t right…they left the stage …Montreal absolutely lost their shit. Started a riot…. same thing happened with Guns N’ Roses in St. Louis Missouri that same year… I’m glad he got help, but it cost him his voice and his looks.
Say what you want about Metallica and plenty have, lars is a bad drummer, I don't like James Hatfield's voice, they play to fast. I say these guys have turned metal into masterpieces, they write great songs that change up and go different places like master of puppets. No metal band ever has been able to come close to these guys and what they did and are still doing. I grew up with them and they took outsider music and conquered the world. A lot of people maybe don't remember when if you listened to bands like Metallica you were part of the "different crew" mainstream didn't like these bands Metallica said I don't care were still crashing the party and taking over 🤟💪😎
A bad drummer? They don't like James voice?! What??!! Well, I think those people are insane LOL! Metallica will go down in history as probably the most famous heavy metal band ever.
Best band ever 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘….the TITANS and LEGENDS of music
James has been my hero since 1989.

What a cool story! It's crazy how young he was when they first started (the first reaction I did, he said they wrote Fade to Black in 1983)

As long as everything is grounded and there are no bad cables, you can play all day in the rain.
Metallica is the first metal band to play to more than a million people in Russia. Playing in the pouring rain and not quitting makes them even greater. ❤
Amen to that!
Tocar mientras llueve no es nada fácil. Metallica es inigualable. 👏👏👏
Saw them in sept. For two shows in seattle, best ever!
GOAT

I noticed that! At first I thought it was Rob, until they did a full shot and I saw it was Kirk with a different guitar!
Epic 🔥
kirks guitar is insane i want it.
Right? I noticed he switched guitars early on in the song. I didn't catch it until I was editing.

In the rain girl I will be so cranky I'm 10 years younger than them and I can't deal

Forgave Axl for what? It happened just after they had been down in Mexico with Guns 'N Roses after Axl's voice went out.

Yeah, he's looking a little worse for wear for sure. It's sad that someone so talented would lose the very thing they love.

@@MrsRealisticyes people think Lars is bad it’s just them repeating what they heard they know no better
