This is like the only video on UA-cam to show a van conversion on the Mercedes Benz Metris. The Metris is an amazing choice for a van build because it has a small 4 cylinder gas engine that gets great gas mileage WITHOUT the complexity of a diesel. I personally would have bought a Passenger Metris so you could get it with different exterior colors and windows but i understand that he used the cargo version for stealth.
I really like the Metris Van. Front engine Rear wheel drive. It’s the biggest work van in the small class. Can tow 5,000lb trailer. This is the van I want to get for a camper conversion. Just wish Mercedes would sell the diesel 4x4 model in the states.
Wow this build has some really neat ideas like the adjustable shelves and the drawer table. It's also incredible how they put a 300w system in such a small space!
This guy is funny. I practically wanted to laugh every time he spoke...can't put my finger on it. Either way what a cool life with his girl and the dog. 👌
You're encouraged to laugh even if it's at rather than with! And not only does this guy have a podcast, Jarrod is also featured on the most recent episode! We're on UA-cam, iTunes, and Spotify!
I take issue with the not powerful comment. I have a Metris and it is quite powerful. I pull a trailer on a regular basis and it does well. typical pulling with a gas engine though, which means fuel economy suffers but I haul my tools regularly and get 9 L/100 kms. Very good, very comfortable.
Rad Tim! Thanks a lot. I'm stoked you're enjoying our dumb ramblings. The videos are up on my UA-cam, and I've got www.fromthevan.com now too. Still working on all that junk, and there will be a blog, additional trip videos and whatnot eventually.
What a great build! I’d like to see how they use the kitchen from inside the van. I’m thinking the sink and fridge can be used so , perhaps that’s enough.
Haha! I do "claim I can cook inside." We have a rad little aluminum camping table that we store under the bed and sometimes set up in the space between the queen seat and the counter for extra food prep space. between that, the countertop, and the top of the fridge, we have a lot flat surface to cook and prep. But like Jarrod said, we live where it seldom rains, so we usually spill out of the van while we're cooking.
We got the swivel adaptor from EuroCampers.com We had to bully it into place because it didn't fit perfectly out of the box. But once we got it in, it works great! The seat even still communicates correctly with the van in terms of seatbelt and airbag sensors. It does raise the seat about an inch and a half, so that's a little weird feeling.
@@fromthevan I checked their website and it doesn't appear to offer them anymore? wth? When you click on the item the screen doesn't show anything like it's been discontinued.
We have 300 watts and live in San Diego County, so we haven't put an isolator in yet. When we secure that holy grail of fully mobile jobs we'll go feral! And when we're off to places where it's not cloudlessly sunny 100% of the time, we'll definitely spring for an isolator.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to find UA-camrs or other private people that perform van builds for people for money? I'm interested in converting a Mercedes Benz Passenger Metris van but I'm not capable of doing it myself due to lack of talent. I want it to be done professionally and not by some hack. I know a lot of people say that try to find someone at the RTR but i live on the east coast and I'm not driving all the way out there just to make connections. Any help would be appreciated.
Someone already said it but price. Lithium is normally triple the price. Yes you get less amp hours but if you're on a budget you got to do what you go to do
@@fromthevan I have no social media. But I hope you get there. Hell in a couple of years, all the Tesla batteries hitting the market should help prices. For me, I'd same the difference between AGM and lithium because it's an over all better deal. Charge cycles and total power output.

Best part is ...”Spin and Marty”....love it...great van build....personality makes the moment👍👍
Winner Winner! First to get the Mickey Mouse Club reference!!

This guy is hilarious and has an awesome van. Impressed two people can live in such a small space, kudos to you guys.
Love you bro!
Thanks homie! Look forward to meeting you when you're in the hood!
@@fromthevan definitely! You and your girl seem amazing, would definitely love to meet you guys

Great build. I like the smaller size van.
Boom! You nailed it with that setup.
Been listening to his podcast, which is hilarious. Awesome to put a face with the voice.
I think he has a UA-cam channel of him filming every podcast too
Jarrod Tocci any idea what it is?

martybenson I’m one of the King’s of ramblings in the Boston area, besides Jarrod of coarse.
Nice van for sure ....great use of space.

Definitely sorry about not showing that. He's in CA so he cooks outside 90% of the time but he claims he can cook inside

I've eaten many plates of chicken bog. Great stuff.
Metris Minimalism props 👍
Somebody knocks on the van and the dog starts barking, whoops😂😂😂
Funny, I own a silver Metris cargo, where did he get the pass. Seat swivel? Thinking of simple version of his build.
I'll ask but I think you can find a few companies that sell swivel seats for all makes and models

Great video! Does he also use a battery isolator to help as alternative to solar for cloudy day?
✌️
I want to say yes as most do but we didn't talk about it. The battery isolator is almost a must have so I want to assume but never know

Nice 👍🏻
Got a girl to live with him in the van. Wow.
Haha! She's got low standards. I'm truly lucky!

He's a pro, I trust him, and he's talented
Looks like a shack that belongs to a homeless.
I just don't understand why anybody would do AGM instead of lithium ion.
price

I would LOVE to have lithium! Tell everybody you know to listen to my podcast so I can monetize that shizzz and eventually afford the upgrade!

ha ha ...But you did party........
I will not be brew-shamed! The name rhymes, and I'm committed to good times!
Friends don't let friends video in the wind without a dead cat for microphones...
Come check out my “Mercedes Mattress”
I wish I had carpenter skills so I could do something like this, I would just be a homeless person living in a van
huge noise. sound not even. i need all the time or increase or decrease sound to be able to listen.
First!
Nice 👍
