There are at least three roof problems that should have been dealt with before new gutters were installed. The wet fascia should have been allowed to dry out and then the fascia should have been cleaned and painted to resist water absorption. Wet wood = rotting wood - bad in and of itself but it also attracts bugs. Better yet, the fascia should have been replaced and clad with sheet aluminum. Which leads to the second problem - there is no sheet aluminum roof drip edge cap/molding. It would go right at the edge of the roof, extend up under the shingles (those are not "tiles" - "tiles" are clay shingles), and they would overlap the top of your fascia such that the top edge of the fascia (i.e., right up under the edge of the shingles) would be under/behind the roof drip edge molding about an inch. The aluminum sheet metal is folded back on itself (i.e., 180 degree bend) about a half inch and would stick out from the fascia about a quarter to a half inch - it supports the edge of the soft shingles to keep them from breaking off over time/under load (e.g., snow). Note the bend at the edge of the shingles in the video. The third problem is the wet roof sheathing. Again, wet wood is not good wood. The shingles are nailed to the underlying sheathing. Rotting/crumbling sheathing cannot provide a good base for the shingles. This is probably the most serious of the three problems because it runs up the roof at lease a couple of feet from the bottom edge of the roof - this lower portion of the roof is in jeopardy of decay/failure/bug infestation. The whole lower portion of this roof may need to be reconstructed/made water tight. If the sheathing is wet dut water backing up/sitting in plugged gutters, the new gutters and some roof drip edge cap may solve the problem - if the sheathing is not too far gone yet...
Great assessment! If only I had read your comment two years ago... or in advance, were it possible of hiring Leaf Filter. Now I am faced with replacing our entire roof and repairing the wood rot. The estimated cost? $16,000. I expect to post an update video soon showing the failure of Leaf Filter. Thank you for your informative response!
Everything you said, now they can only pray the leaf filter will mitigate and control the water-flow at a level other gutter protection and open gutters could never hope to match.
Man it would annoy the hell out of me to have your home with no flashing and long cut shingles causing that sagging bend from the summer heat. But enjoy the new gutters. Also, you have debris behind the gutter because of your gutter spikes coming loose and there being a gap due to having no flashing.
Roger here I'm here to tell you short story short do not purchase LEAFFILTER GUTTER PROTECTION system and have yourself a good day I do hope that this review really reaches a great deal of people before purchasing this no good faulty product with a no good for nothing warranty guarantee
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY LEAF FILTER SYSTEM!!!! I've had leaf filter for about 4 years not and 1 service ticket where they were very prompt to come out and fix a small overflow issue. Since then i've had no issues to point nice video
DUMB ME.... LEAF FILTER installed new gutters and gutter guards on my house. After first rain, the inside gutter seams were leaking. After a week of daily phone calls, with no response, I wrote a review..... and surprise.. I get a phone call to schedule the repair. Today was that day. Guess what... NO SHOW and NO PHONE CALL. Be warned, CUSTOMER SERVICE basically does not exist. I should have gone with VALOR.
Does this LeafFilter gutters system really work? Where are the satisfied customers reviews, other than this guy, who for all I know, may be connected to the LF business in some sort of way.?
If you're happy with a product then why would you leave a review??? Think about it from your own life experience when have you ever left a review when you're happy? You only leave a review if you're pissed off or a competing company
I'm leaving a bad review every where and every chance i get To explain to people short story short do not purchase LEAFFILTER GUTTER PROTECTION system with it's no good for nothing warranty guarantee lots of people have left thank you post after reading my post but the more people get involved the better we can warn others so do your part. Thanks Roger B.
I just had leaf filters installed Oct 2021 having water leaking they call it tigers stripped. And will not take responsibility of not being installed incorrectly. Water coming over gutters.
How much did this cost you? I got a quote today for $37-39 per linear foot. I have 403 feet total according to the sales rep. And after some discounts and if I was to sign up for it on the spot he offered a discount that brought it down to $26-27 per linear foot. Initial quote over $15k good for one year Some discounts added on if I sign up for it in the next 30 days around $11.5K And if I acted now they could do $10.5k I found this to be very overly expensive.
Well, we were fools for sure. Found out while they were installing that we were taken big time. If you say no thanks, the price will go down tremendously. Also, was promised there would be NO water shooting over with rain. First rain and over it came. Scammers and liars come to mind.
Leaf Filter North out of Nitro WV. Horrible!! From what I've read you should get no gutter guards. Just have gutters cleaned once or twice a year. Much cheaper.
I bought leaf filter in Arkansas they were out of Missouri I still have problems with it customer service was not good it took him a long time to finish it and yes there's some areas it should not have been done I was not informed until later they did not do the installation process as I was told they were going to do it is not mosquito proof there is debris he gets down inside and they still get clogged up it was a waste of money I asked for my money back and I have still got no response that was been 2 years ago not a happy camper
Warning:; Leaf Filter personnel ARE NOT GUTTER SPECIALISTS and will screw up your gutter system if you let them. This is from personal experience. They recommended a new section of gutter and/or realignment. They could not provide an adequate plan for replacement, so I opted for an adjustment and they screwed it up. I had to drill holes in my gutter and add downspouts were they could not solve the issue. They did a crappy job putting their cheap caps on my gutter and they resisted heavily when I tried to get them to correct their mistakes and honor their commitments made during the initial in-person consultation! In addition, their story change from the initial estimate when they came out a second time. Do not use this service!!!!!! Seattle area...
The leaf filter or any screen mesh work good for the first 2-3 years. After that they get clogged from shingle particles, dust, algae, that form over the top. After that you'll get over flow. This was my situation up here in Minnesota. Leaf blowers Toro, Stihl, and Echo have gutter blower attachments for around $50.00 to blow the gutters out. No need to climb a ladder. Do it all from the ground.
What is the name of the gutter company you own? UA-cam tagged your comment on my New Gutters by Leaf Filter as "Likely Spam." I'll approve it for public view if you can validate your expertise. Thank you for the "fascia" spelling and pronunciation corrections. When I make such errors, I often leave them in my videos to generate comments.
Here's the deal with pricing on gutters. I've been in business for 30 years. Residential 5" $3.20 a ft no tear down Residential 5" $3.40 a ft. with teardown Commercial 6" $5.00 a ft no teardown Commercial 6" $5.20 aft with teardown Gutter Covers should never cost over $10.00 per ft. on the high end. If you pay anything above these prices your getting ripped off. Period. Your welcome.
you probably install trash gutter guards. if you want something quality it will be more than 10 a foot. do you even make money at 10 bucks a foot? how can you grow as a company and be around to fulfill your warranties when you just give this shit away. your guys are risking their lives doing this stuff and youre probably paying them ghetto wages.
Where's the flashing? Why did you get 2x3 instead of 3x4? Was the gutter guy new to the game? He should have bought a 6" machine. I think your gutter guy is new and inexperienced, or he's cheap. You should of had flashing installed prior to the hangers being installed
Just today, I received an email about a class action settlement with LeafFilter. I could file a claim, but I won’t because I asked LF to remove the filters on the gutters they replaced. And they did. Also, they took their dysfunctional filters…after we had our roof replaced because of water and rot damage. What a waste of money!
From this experience, the best gutters are open gutters. Cleaning them is necessary depending on what hangs over or near your house and the weather and wind conditions. We asked Leaf Filter to remove their filters, which they did for no additional charge. After removing 30 some odd fir trees in our backyard, and replacing our roof, these open gutters are working perfectly fine.

Don't do it, it's junk and that price is simply crazy!
There are better systems out there for less money look at Valor guyyer guard
that sounds like a copper gutter quote to me! Our 6'' aluminum k-style gutters start at $5.50 a linear foot.
Your a fool if you sign. You can get euro gutters in copper for 35/foot.
