I recommend filling up the supply wagons to the max size of 35,000. The army started with about 15k in each wagon, and there was plenty of cash on hand to fill up both wagons. The game replaces the ammo for FREE at the end of the battle. The worst thing that can happen to the army is to run out of ammo. When that happens, units fire at 1/3 speed, and also become exhausted. - I hope that you are enjoying your campaign.

This is really helpful. I only ever bought more when I had supply problems because I thought I'd have to pay for the ammo replenishment.
