From CITY Life in CANADA to Life OFF-GRID in KENYA

- We moved from the suburbs in Canada to an off-grid life in Kenya without water or power. Homesteading became a way of life that we hadn't even planned for ourselves but that we were forced into.
This is the life we the 60s and 70s lived. Very beneficial to your kinds.Best wishes and much love. Keep exploring.
Yes, totally!
I admire your homesteading life. I am a Kenyan working in town but I would choose this life any day.
I love your what we eat in a day videos as you use what you grow yourselves, truly inspiring to see.
Thanks! It sure keeps us healthy
What's your location....looks good
Growing your own food sounds wonderful until the crops don't grow enough to cure hunger or are raided by animals or insects or die of plant disease or drought.
I love how ur children looks happy, even though they were use to a different life in having everything easy, and now they're just beautiful kids they will soon realize that mommy and daddy made the best decisions for them❤ just subscribe to ur channel i love it
Thank you!
I am glad to find back your channel. I love your lifestyle.I believe it's very healthy and good for the children.
I love this off-grid life of yours guys, this is part of my future goals. Beautiful ❤😍
Thank you!
I love your way of life which definitely means less stress and is good for the environment.
It’s not just freedom, it’s much healthier and actually sustainable. Western life is not that and no amount of technology will ever make it that.
Yes, very true!
True. I'm doing the same. Leaving Canada and moving to Honduras. The land is ready, trees have been planted; we're just sorting out some things in Canada and should be leaving in 1-2 years.
thank you for sharing this make me wanna go back to Jamaica do something myself I love it that’s how I was raised❤
Just found this channel. Interesting how you made such a big change. Canada to Off grid my country kenya
We love it here!
I love the ending message. I also feel that the simple life is the best life. 🙏
Thanks!
Freedom is definitely one word for this..
Yes!
I love watching your videos
Your chn are so well disciplined and helpful
Give us more videos on your amazing lifestyle
Thank you, will do!
You are such a humble and intelligent woman. The way you explain offgrid technology, I guess the modern farm machinery on your homestead is some Canadian influence as well, and above all you seem to be enjoying the rural lifestyle. The kind of knowledge we need in Africa. African Americans who migrate to Africa must learn from this, most of them are just whining about this and that, yet here is a Caucasian girl handling Africa like a Pro.
Thanks, I've learned so much from my family and community here!
@@wearehomesteaders1257 I feel sorry for you because unless you and your Kenyan husband have many children to take care of you at old age when you can no longer take care of yourself, you will spend your old age in painful hardship physically and financially. Make no mistake about Kenya - it's a third-world nation lacking the social safety net that most Western countries offer or lacking the comparable quality even if it offers some to its residents. Kenya is also far from being a harmonious society, being divided by regionalism, tribalism, ethnics, religion, politics and, of course, wealth. Unless you are a woman who grew up in rural Canada doing things old-fashioned ways, I doubt your happiness in Kenyan countryside would last.
What a gorgeous family.
This is what I call life and living. Wonderful! So good for children to grow up experiencing this. I'm longing for country living, not off the grid as you but still, living far from the city.
What are you doing about the childrens education? You should find out about digging a borehole, you don't have to do it the expensive way, do it jua kali, by getting some locals that know how to do it. You will desparately need water during the dry spells.
We homeschool 😊
I was to teach your kids Kiswahili for free. I am still interested to. @@wearehomesteaders1257
I would also love to live like that just wonderful and peaceful enjoying nature every single day love from ethiopia 🇪🇹❤🇰🇪
It's so peaceful! Thanks for watching
The kind of life,I like, peaceful and quiet life, away from the noisy, polluted city,
Yes, totally!

Thank you!
I am so glad to see you guys again Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s to you and your family beautiful family baby girl growing up big
I found your channel today and I love what you are doing. I am also soon coming back home and going to the village to homestead and off grid
That's amazing! After living abroad together, we were so blessed to return to Kenya. We love living simply and off the land!
@@wearehomesteaders1257how many cows do you have that gives you dung enough for you biogas production?
1:27 That was my childhood growing up in Jamaica. We burn trash in the evenings and it was pleasurable. Simple sustainable life is the best life!
Yes!!
All that smoke and smell from burning trash in the open isn't so pleasurable anywhere.
This is great 🇿🇼
🇨🇦 Canada is hell on earth my friends
I couldn't get a girl to stay with me and he took her to Kenya, he's some kind of maestro.
Your kids are blessed to live and experience such beautiful life
Thanks!
Beautiful. We enjoyed watching my Family and I. God bless you and increase you in all areas of your lives even more in Jesus name amen.
Thanks for watching!!
WOow tell Henry to use a stick to push the feed in the feeder
Yeah, if he wants to stay 'a hands on farmer'...😂😂😂
Yeesss i was about to right the same, got me feeling anxious for him man especially when i saw him puling his fingers out fast 😧, don't know how but i knew this was going to happen seing how he was pushing his hands in. Please bro use a stick or since you like to build you can build a stick with the same shape and size as the entrance of the feeder (male type) at the head of the stick for more safety.
Safety fast
I just came across your video just now and I love what I saw therefore, I subscribed. I live in Alberta Canada which is very cold right now so I am jealous
Thank you! I'm from BC (Vancouver Island) so our winters weren't much compared to yours in Alberta 😜
Thank you for sharing
Lovely video with your family ❤❤❤❤

This is the kind of life i want.
Thanks
It's great kids enjoy❤
New person ❤❤❤
Tres Cool!
Semanggat beraktifitas, sehat selalu untuk Pak dan Ibu😊
Good job.
I grew up in central Kenya with a similar context & all i can contribute, unsolicited btw, is that your children will be the greatest beneficiaries of such a life. The amount of grit, discipline, joy, & improvasiation required for such a life are all the principles they'll inherit from y'all & implement as tenets of their own lives.
Thanks, I appreciate that so much!
Much love 😊
To you too 😘
Amazing vlog👌
God Bless you Family❤
Thank you!
Wow, nice!! I also moved from USA to rural Kenya; and recently started a UA-cam channel to share my relocation experience. Glad to see that I'm not alone in this journey 🙂

I too moved from Canada. Life in Canada is too stressful and not kids friendly.
I loved growing up in Canada but i really prefer a slow quiet life now. Yes, it can get very busy and stressful

Thanks, no where else in this world we'd rather be!
You just described my childhood.
Lovely!
true freedom..
Are peanut's hard to grow there as you could use them for peanut sauces, make peanut butter , snacks and other things.
I've never tried growing peanuts! You can buy them raw and make your own peanut butter... We have tried growing macadamia nuts but it is so dry where we live and they didn't do well. But we'll keep trying!
Peace and blessings
I truly love your journey as we also moved from Europe to Kenya and are now living in our farm.
I admire your courage of doing things differently.
Do you make butter from your raw milk cream?
I been contemplating starting a UA-cam channel but i am such an introvert and i have all these doubts in.my head. How did you find the courage.
I truly admire your channel for it's authenticity, you dont copy and paste. I wish you more views.
Yes we do make our own butter from the cream we get. It's amazing the number of products you can make with just milk! We fell in love with the land and didn't have a choice but to homestead because it was off-grid. It's a challenge many days but we also wouldn't have it any other way. Digging in the ground and being in nature and with our animals is so therapeutic! Ah so you're in Kenya too after moving from abroad. I find having different cultures creates such a richness!
I love watching your vlogs
Was wondering what happened to you guys as I haven't seen much of.you guys lately
Love to see more of this humble and hardworking family
You should definitely make some videos. Trust me I'm an introvert too and one day I will pop up on camera..
Nice vedeio❤❤❤

0:48 recycle the trash, which will create compost for future produce and if you get a bio digester you can use all your food scrap and animal waste as a source of fuel for the bio digester, which in return will provide free gas for cooking and hot water if connected to a boiler. this way you have nearly Zero waste and you continue to live off grid. 👊🏿
Thanks, we do have a bio digester ☺
Good job,but a question to ask Is it not risky to put the hands in the cutter/shaft when its on.
Good question! Not very risky actually. The way that the machine is made prevents your hands from going inside the actual cutter itself
Hallow.... keep on posting moreand more videos 😅
Imagine I keep telling myself I will, but homesteading and homeschooling seems to consume me some days! Thanks for always watching
Do you put manure in your garden? Crushed egg shell good for tomatoes too.💗

@@dokumentipodroz3973 fine, then translators would not assist either in a 21st century a world of technologies people would hardly navigate and travel without a tour guide because the gadgets installed in world maps then is useless and money making as a result of wrong and not exact directions!
Do not burn, Turn the paper into briquets where there is cellulose from wood. I note there is NO DRIP Irrigation. I need the TV and Internet. Lots I would do different BUT appreciate the sacrifice and tenacity to DO IT.
Tha ks for your tips. We improve day by day and keep learning
I visited Kenya a few years back and on the way from the airport to the city people burning stuff on the side of the road
Probably burning trash
What are the benefits of putting the alfalfa through the chipper. It's seems labour intensive. Wouldn't the cows enjoy as it comes?
She sure does enjoy the alfafa straight up, but I chipped a bail to maximize on the protein intake in a measurable manner. It's not labour intensive at all, I think of it as involving not Tiresome. (The guy chipping).
Super content, subbed too. Good luck and I’ll watch your videos. When updated.
Thanks for watching!

Fresh grown beans.growing your own food is healthy.and your own land..
Canada is a very harsh place to live. Weather, taxes, depression, no chance of getting in a relationship etc.... there are so many reasons to leave from this place. I would rather also live in my ancestral home in India one day I wish, life is so simple and beautiful in those countries away from big cities
I loved growing up there as a child but much prefer the freedom we have here to homestead as be self-sufficient
Good job look limiri Mackenzi farm they are like you just connect

Mmmmm.... you got yourself a real man woman. I love how you work together to get things done.
👍
Beautiful, do you live near menengai crater?
Nairobi that direction, kisumu that, solai, Milo , Mombasa , I remember
I'm in Zambia and I want to do this. I want to know about security.
I know it is satisfying to grow your own fruit and vegetables. I assume you make your own butter from having a milk cow. Your ways remind me of my childhood. 😊
Continue to share with us. Thanks !
Thanks and yes, you are very right- we make our own butter. It's been a challenge to learn as this way of living as been quite lost. Also very rewarding
@@wearehomesteaders1257
I can remember my grandmother giving my sister and I a Mason jar of cream to shake until it turned into butter. It was fun as a child. That was many many moons ago.
Have you checked out Bomanoma? I think you have many things in common.
I've not heard of them but thanks- I'll check them out now
Where is this place in Kenya?
Well life decisions are simply personal, personal within a holistic environment, period.
Life is better lived by individuals who do not seek external views and perceptions. Period
You didn't talk about water? Where do you get your water?
