If you're filming with an iPad, iPhone, or some of the newer (2022+) Macs the camera's have Center Stage, which automatically tracks your face and tries to keep you in frame. You can turn this off. Not sure if that is what what going on here, but just a guess. Edit: This is only on the front facing cameras as far as I'm aware.
I bought it because I'm a gadget geek and wanted something to replace my Oasis. So far, I really enjoy it, especially while reading in bed or laying down. One of my favorite things, is seeing the book cover of my current read in color on the lock screen. It's something about that muted look, I really like. It's also nice when reading books with the occasional color graphic. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the QC issues so many early adopters are experiencing. On the flip side, I will stick with my iPad mini when reading graphic novels or doing immersive reading, because the experience of each is way better on iPad's Kindle app.
I shelled out for the Colorsoft. I also got the Scribe last year. I had a 6th gen Paperwhite that I gave away prior to getting the Scribe. Missed the smaller form factor of the Paperwhite. The Scribe I use as a daily planner and to read at work.
hopefully mine doesn’t arrive with any issues. I’m happy I finally get to see my covers in color. I am on the no button camp, I like the simple design, just screen. I am used to scroll/tap to move between pages already. I’ll use it to read colored manga, I prefer ereaders over ipads because they have no distractions, it is just for reading 😊
I got the colorsoft and returned it and got a Paperwhite instead. The colours were honestly sooo beautiful and it's really worth it if someone wants to buy it. The only issue for me was that the screen is very grey and it's difficult to read without turning up the brightness. Price isn't an issue for me as I love reading - really it's my only hobby and happiness since I was a kid and I'd pay $200 more even for the slightest upgrade.
I returned mine the screen was real low yellow and the yellow line at the bottom I was so excited waited months for a release and I will say I was so disappointed I really hope they fix it the battery wouldn’t bother me as I read at home on my kindle stand and can just charge it got my boox palma for any travelling fits in my pocket 😊 In my mind you may as well tap the screen than the side a ereader with buttons for me is being able to hold it with one hand easily
I received one with the yellow band at the bottom, my replacement Amazon sent was worse than the original. I returned it. Now I am waiting on a software update or returning the original shortly. I have really enjoyed it, and I do love seeing the book covers in color. But the battery life isn't what it should be. I did order the raspberry signature paperwhite & I love it but I am disappointed in the colorsoft. For the price point I was expecting better.
Indeed, why did we want a kindle color so bad? I’ve been using my iPad mini, yes more expensive, but used for so many other things along with reading comics and other material in vibrant colors, videos, and so much more The kindle color just looks washed out and drab. Love my signature paper white 12 edition for regular reading.
People forget the first e ink kindles had a darker screen also just like the colour e ink. Yet no one complained, think today people are spoiled and expect to much. The darker screen is not that bad and in the sun is easier on the eye than a pure white screen. Unfortunately a darker screen is a limitation of colour as it has a filter for colour
no, you are wrong.. that is completely unreadable. No one could read on the first kindles, and no one can read on this colored one. it is a fact 😂😂😂 joke aside. People love their kobo color, and other readers. People complain only when you add them side by side to non color readers. Since I am not planning on having multiple kindles, I won’t notice this.
True! I did include a clip of how highlighting looks near the end of the video, but you’re right, I didn’t specifically mention it! I’m glad you bring that up
I think price/bang for the buck is a big issue here. Yes, you can tell a slight difference between the screenon the Colorsoft vs. the Kobo Libra Colour, but there's also a 60+ price difference, and given that you can get a pen for the KLC for about $20, that means you get a color, pen-enabled device *with the pen*, for less than the price of the Colorsoft. I suppose if you're married to the Amazon ecosystem, and converting your books to epub is too laborious for you, it would be worth it, but I'm struggling to understand who would buy this if they weren't already deep in Amazon's clutches. I've seen the rumor about tapping the side to go forward and back, and I'm dubious. I don't see what utility that would have, and I would think it would lead to a lot of unintentional page turns. That sounds like a nightmare.
KLC also has different modes hidden deep in the settings that will make your display more “vivid” like Kindle. I love my paperwhite signature from 2022 (I bought it then but perhaps it came out in 2021). So I’m keeping my old one and the KLC. I think the Colorsoft is good for regular kindle users who want kindle, but the price for all the potential defects I definitely would not purchase until they say it’s fixed. It’s really overpriced in general but it is what it is! Also, KLC is like a mini scribe for cheaper for less than the price of a colorsoft… I was hoping for a Scribe Color but It’s probably going to be so expensive nevermind LOLL
@@madmonkey545 Where are those modes hidden? I'd like to make it a bit more vivid, if I can do it without losing too much detail. One of the things I noticed when I saw the KLC compared to the Colorsoft is that the Colorsoft had more saturated colors but it also lacked some detail in those shadows.
I got my Kindle Colorsoft on Monday and I agree with you: it's fun to see the covers of my books in color but an Ipad is much better if you want to read comics and graphic novels. My unit does have the infamous yellow band at the bottom of the screen but it's not that noticeable...it depends on the lighting and the setting. On the plus side this thing is super fait compared to my Oasis 3 from 2020 and even compared to my 2024 matcha Kindle.
Sorry for the weird camera movement throughout the video! Not sure what my camera was doing, but I realize it’s distracting.

I decided to get the iPad mini 7 instead of the kindle colour and very happy with it plus with pencil and can use it for other things too
I like that you added to the title, "HONEST Review" . I feel assured now.
The comics on these devices reminds me of the muted colour comic design is the 60's, so like the muted look, and as comics always used to look

I like the Colorsoft so far, but it’s a Badic with color that I really want. I’ll trade in the Colorsoft in a heartbeat when that gets announced.

Have you tried digital magazine reading with the colorsoft yet? I want to get this as my main reader for books, newspapers and magazines.

That sounds like a great way to do it!
I just bought one today. Not sure I'm going to keep it.

You forgot to talk about high lighting in color.
True! I did include a clip of how highlighting looks near the end of the video, but you’re right, I didn’t specifically mention it! I’m glad you bring that up
@ I think that may be a factor of reader that like to annotate their book and enjoy using e-reader.

Couldn’t agree more! And yes, I think tapping the side to advance the page could be a nightmare.

Battery life is worse as the LED light needs to be brighter to reduce the darker screen

I feel opposite about tapping the sides to turn the pages instead of turn page button. Just stick to buttons Amazon please
Haha why not over-complicate a simple feature though?? 😆
I have so many reports and books that have color graphs that are absolutely useless in a regular kindle
did they keep the on/off button at the bottom , you know where it is inconvenient?
thank you, I like listening to you
Price is just ridiculous
Oh my gosh but we get to highlight in all those colors. 😂😑🤦🏻♀️
