    Sorry for the weird camera movement throughout the video! Not sure what my camera was doing, but I realize it’s distracting.

    • @ZombieBinary
      @ZombieBinary Місяць тому +3

      If you're filming with an iPad, iPhone, or some of the newer (2022+) Macs the camera's have Center Stage, which automatically tracks your face and tries to keep you in frame. You can turn this off. Not sure if that is what what going on here, but just a guess. Edit: This is only on the front facing cameras as far as I'm aware.

    I got the colorsoft and returned it and got a Paperwhite instead. The colours were honestly sooo beautiful and it's really worth it if someone wants to buy it. The only issue for me was that the screen is very grey and it's difficult to read without turning up the brightness. Price isn't an issue for me as I love reading - really it's my only hobby and happiness since I was a kid and I'd pay $200 more even for the slightest upgrade.

    I bought it because I'm a gadget geek and wanted something to replace my Oasis. So far, I really enjoy it, especially while reading in bed or laying down. One of my favorite things, is seeing the book cover of my current read in color on the lock screen. It's something about that muted look, I really like. It's also nice when reading books with the occasional color graphic. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the QC issues so many early adopters are experiencing. On the flip side, I will stick with my iPad mini when reading graphic novels or doing immersive reading, because the experience of each is way better on iPad's Kindle app.

    I have owned several Kindles over the years and this is the only one I've returned. My Colorsoft has a yellow tinge at the bottom of the screen. I have the BOOX Color Go 7 but the Kindle app crashes repeatedly. So I am sticking with the 5-year-old Kindle Oasis, despite the fading battery life. BTW, I left a brief 2-star review mentioning the yellow tinge and Amazon would not post it.

      @gsogymrat Місяць тому +1

      @@aleeka99 Even if Amazon fixes the yellowing and the battery problems, the form factor is inferior compared to the Oasis or Kobo Libre. If the rumor is true that tapping the side of the Colorsoft would turn the page, that would make me reconsider it.

    • @icipher12
      @icipher12 Місяць тому +2

      @@gsogymrat There is nothing inferior about the form factor. I get it's your preference, but no buttons means better pocketability, weight distribution and fewer points of failure. It's clear that it's just the vocal minority that wants the buttons when both kobo and kindle have their cheapest models without them. Fact is, if the form factor was actually in such high demand then kindle would never discontinue the oasis.

    Pro is the highlighting feature with different colors. It’s one of the main reasons for me. I like to annotate. Also I don’t like to compare the colorsoft as a paperwhite with color because people expect crisp screen like the paperwhite but that’s not the case. The colorsoft also has a little haziness to it. If you look at the white background it looks kinda like newspaper. The paperwhite is just white and crisp. Not complaining but it’s a different type of device and should be compared to order color readers and not to the paperwhite in my opinion. That’s why people are getting disappointed. I got the yellowing at the bottom but I’m returning it and getting it again. I spoke to rep and they said they’re beginning to ship out new inventory of corrected kindle colorsoft. Let’s see if that’s true! The listing kept pushing the shipping date out until this morning. They moved the shipping date up so perhaps they have fixed it and shipping new ones out. We’ll see. Mine arrives Nov 11-14

    Thank you for this explicit video!
    For my part, I opted for the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, which is a real pleasure on a daily basis. In particular, it allows me to highlight with the appropriate color the important passages of my books, to go through the covers in color, and to take full advantage of reading books containing colored diagrams.

    I love my Colorsoft. I already have a BOOX Tab Mini C that I've been using since last December...so almost a year. I think the color on the Colorsoft is noticeably more vibrant and it just looks great out of the box with the Vivid setting.
    I am also a graphic novel reader who gets bad migraines reading on an LCD screen...so e-ink is the way to go for me. And I have severe hand pain...so holding physical copies is really hard for me.
    I think other things that are great on the Colorsoft are kids mode, magazines, cookbooks, crafting/pattern Books, and non-fiction with color photos. There are a lot of markets for this I think outside of graphic novel readers.
    But I also don't think this isna device everyone needs. If those things aren't what you read or if you can read on a tablet without headaches...then there are cheaper options out there. But the Colorsoft is the best implementation of color e-ink that I've seen and I'm really happy with it for my personal reading needs.

    I own a scribe, the fancy paperwhite with 64 gigs and wireless, also an Oasis. Dreaming of a color kindle and waited for what seemed like years. Then I got one of the new basic kindles, beveled screen (or set back). Over the top battery life, fits in my cargo pants with my leather slip case. Tiny when next to my fancy paperwhite. It reminds me of my (if memory is right)kindle 7th Gen. It traveled the country with me for years, camping etc. While I really want the color to see my covers, and highlight in something other than gray. Have fallen in love with this 130 buck device, without ads. I might have had a week moment but Amazon is not shipping till 20th of Dec, and they might fix the yellow at the bottom. I signed up for you reviews, and always have enjoyed them. Ohhh, liked the tap the side to turn page, they always suck me into these things.

    I couldn't wait for a color Kindle, so I had bought a kobo libra? color (the cheapest, smallest one with color) but then was disapointed in getting my Kindle library over to kobo, what a pain... Then I tried a BigMe B751C (I love it) but even then, I don't use any "color" features, lol.... I just read books with it, although I have once or twice used it to read a magazine, that is nice to see in color... I have had MANY different Kindles and tablets including an Ipad Mini, a Scribe, an Oasis, and a top of the line paperwhite (biggest memory avail) but out of everything, the BigMe is #1 for me... Of course, it is all just personal choice...

    I think price/bang for the buck is a big issue here. Yes, you can tell a slight difference between the screenon the Colorsoft vs. the Kobo Libra Colour, but there's also a 60+ price difference, and given that you can get a pen for the KLC for about $20, that means you get a color, pen-enabled device *with the pen*, for less than the price of the Colorsoft.
    I suppose if you're married to the Amazon ecosystem, and converting your books to epub is too laborious for you, it would be worth it, but I'm struggling to understand who would buy this if they weren't already deep in Amazon's clutches.
    I've seen the rumor about tapping the side to go forward and back, and I'm dubious. I don't see what utility that would have, and I would think it would lead to a lot of unintentional page turns. That sounds like a nightmare.

    • @madmonkey545
      @madmonkey545 Місяць тому +2

      KLC also has different modes hidden deep in the settings that will make your display more “vivid” like Kindle. I love my paperwhite signature from 2022 (I bought it then but perhaps it came out in 2021). So I’m keeping my old one and the KLC. I think the Colorsoft is good for regular kindle users who want kindle, but the price for all the potential defects I definitely would not purchase until they say it’s fixed. It’s really overpriced in general but it is what it is! Also, KLC is like a mini scribe for cheaper for less than the price of a colorsoft… I was hoping for a Scribe Color but It’s probably going to be so expensive nevermind LOLL

    • @dylancanread

      @@madmonkey545 Where are those modes hidden? I'd like to make it a bit more vivid, if I can do it without losing too much detail. My unit does have the infamous yellow band at the bottom of the screen but it's not that noticeable...it depends on the lighting and the setting. Doesn't battery life depends on how much you use your kindle, how long you are on your kindle, brightness level and if your kindle is in airplane mode?
    Yes, a single charge can last for weeks if you barely use your kindle and have airplane mode on. I have a Kindle Paperwhite 6th Generation that I have bought from somewhere in 2022. It's my first Kindle and I am okay with it. I get free ebooks from Amazon and I use Libby. I like reading physical books. I had charged the kindle and played around with it to test it out and saved it. I took it out again in 2023 and the battery was still in the high percentage. I didn't use it in 2023, but recently started using it a couple of months ago. I still get good battery life out of it.
    I do not sit down and read for hours on my kindle and airplane mode stays on.
    Wifi will drain battery as well.
