Love your book videos.. was shocked when you said you live in Minnesota, I do too. With that being said I hope you're staying warm and reading lots of books. I'm binge reading the Harry Potter books for my birthday. Anyways have a good one
I absolutely love my Colorsoft - it gives me everything I wanted , color book-covers, color highlights but I still get the e-ink when I read which I’ve always loved!! My only complaint is I do wish it was like the Kindle Ossis I loved my side buttons but I’ve got use to not having them
Thanks for this information. I think I would really enjoy a color ereader but I am really disappointed that Amazon does not think that anyone needs page turn buttons. I agree that the Amazon ecosystem is very user friendly. Just so you know, Amazon has removed the ability to "Download and Transfer by USB" option from your Content library for the new devices. This is the way most people bring Amazon ebooks into Calibre to remove DRM. The Download and Transfer is still available if you have an older Kindle device registered to your account. I am not currently in the market for a new reader, but I guess my next reader will be a Kobo.
I have both and enjoy reading on the kindle more as I tend to read manga and magazines on it. The only time I have noticed and “light” is when I have the backlight all the way up and since I don’t use the backlight at that level I honestly don’t see it even when I look at it with a magnifying glass. In the end, I think it comes down to which system you are more accustomed to and familiar with. The main thing is that you enjoy reading on whatever device you have.
Cool I’m the first to comment. I just finally upgraded (bought) a new kindle- a paperwhite only because I can’t read in the dark on my old (still works fine) 3rd generation 2010 keyboard kindle. There’s a lot I can’t do on it but that’s fine in daylight. I just read on it. Actually, I have gotten away from reading in recent years. So far I like the new one but it’s a little challenging navigating compared to the old one. The side by side comparison of the colors demonstrates how kindle is somehow sharper and brighter.
I got my Colorsoft from Best Buy because I'm a flibbertigibbet and couldn't wait until December. Mine does have a slight thin line or 'shadow'. I wouldn't even call it yellow. But the reason I wonder if it's actually the glue, which I have also seen elsewhere, is because it comes and goes and I can turn the kindle off and back on and it'll be gone awhile. But it really is faint and doesn't reach into my book area so I'll probably keep it. Not sure if Amazon would replace one bought elsewhere but I can live with it. I love this thing. I especially love not having the ghosting issues.:)
Really nice to hear you’re enjoying reading on your Colorsoft. I ordered mine on 31 October and my delivery was postponed. It’s showing I won’t get it until after Christmas (27 Dec - 3 Jan) in UK! But hopefully I’ll get the refreshed device…
I was waiting for your update on the Colorsoft! Thanks! I have ordered one, but I am wondering how much I will miss the Oasis page turn buttons. I would love a color Oasis.
I ordered mine on November 5th. It was supposed to arrive by November 22nd, got delayed to the 26th, then it got delayed to December 29th!!! I have another one on order from November 12th that’s for a Christmas gift. That one says it should be delivered by December 20th. I am not holding my breath. Hopefully you don’t have the same issue with receiving yours.
Kindle has really Sh*t the bed for Canadians. No Overdrive/Libby for borrowing from most Canadian libraries. And no Bluetooth to allow audible books. Kobo Libre Colour offers Bluetooth, native Overdrive/Libby convenience, direct Dropbox and Google Drive syncing and stylus support. Adjusting the brightness with a simple swipe of the left side without diving into menus is so thoughtful. I have both a Kindle and a Kobo Libre Colour. The Kindle stays in the drawer.
Just for everyone to be aware. If you order now, you may be waiting more than 5 weeks. I have another order from November 5th that got delayed until December 29th. This could be updated at anytime. But, even if you get locked in promise dates, you will probably experience unforeseen delays. Just for context, my original delivery date was November 22nd, then delayed to the 26th. So yeah, my order from November 5th is now delayed until December 29th.
Have you noticed dead pixels on the Kobo? I happen to be reading in bed one night with my Kobo on the bed and my head on the pillow at an angle and noticed a dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I can’t see it in daylight or straight on. I checked again and there’s also one on the right side and at the bottom. Apparently it’s a common issue (according to Reddit users). I only notice it when reading while laying down at an angle….
I had dead pixels on Libra 2 and I hated it, it shone very bright in the middle of the screen. So when I bought Libra Colour and there was another dead pixel, I was pissed. People on Reddit said they had to replace it four, five even six times... And yet we only hear media talk about the yellow band on Kindle. Plus I really hated how dark the screen was, reading without front light was impossible. So I'm glad I returned it and I treated myself with Kindle Scribe instead :)
The dead pixel problem is not only Kobo...I've seen it on Pocketbook, Boox, Kobo...more so with Kaleido 3 screens not Carta 1200. Have never encountered a dead pixel on a Kindle, though I haven't tried (and will not try) the Colorsoft. Too expensive for what you get in comparison to other brands. For example, you can get a Pocketbook Inkpad Color 3 with cover for that price: same form factor, page turn buttons, can read every format, 7.8 inch instead of 7...
Do you have to return your Colorsoft right away, or can you hold in to it until you get the replacement? I have a very, very slight darkening/maybe yellowing at the bottom which I don't even notice unless I look for it. It never occurred to me that it may get worse with time. I don't want to return it, but if it does worsen with time.....
That's my EXACT same situation!! SO . . . my answer to your question is I don't think so. I reached out to customer service via chat, and after a little while, the cs rep said that he was issuing me a replacement, and I got this in an email: I've personally issued you a free replacement for the order# . . . There is no mention of returning the defective device before the other device is sent, so I think you keep the defective device until the new one comes and then ship it back. I recommend you reach out to CS and get the process started. I have no way to track my replacement device, and there is no "expected ship date" in the email, but I don't think it will be soon. Good luck and happy reading!!
Great video. Just ordered myself the new paperwhite signature to replace my original 2012 paperwhite. Hope to get the Colorsoft maybe next year once they work out the bugs.
Manga and comics do not work well at all on any gen kindle up to 11th. They actually usually cause all of our kindles to crash and glitch etc. I would say it’s a one off problem if it was just one device, or if we were not purchasing the media directly through Amazon, but that’s not the case. We’ve tried everything. I think the reality of reading these things is that in order for most people to enjoy it, it needs to be no different than reading the print version. No pinching and zooming, no clicking through panels…that’s too slow, too annoying. Add in some crashing and glitches, and the claims do not meet the reality. Just my perspective.

i'd love to see a comparison between these two devices and the boox go color 7

I read Artemis fowl as a teenager at first I couldn't get past the first book but once I pressed on I made it far in the series.

I love my basic. But colorsoft doesnt even come close to libra color.

Does kindle color tell you how many pages are left in a chapter now ?
