Elvis' bodyguard told a story about a lady who had no legs from the waist down yet raised all her kids kept the house spotless and even raised some of her grandkids. It was in the newspaper and the story about her getting around on this slab of boards with roller skates attached under it and she would wear these thick gloves to scoot herself around with. Someone showed it to Elvis it he was so moved he told his people to find out where she lived. Then he proceeded to buy the best electric wheel chair money could buy and they loaded it into the trunk of the car and went to the ladies house and when her husband came to the door they asked if they could come in and then brought the chair in. Then the called for the lady to come in and see what they had and when she saw it she was so excited she started crying then they all started crying. Elvis told her he was sure how to operate it but it had an instruction manual. When they left the body guard told Elvis, "I don't think she even knew who you were!" to which Elvis replied, "It don't matter......what matters is she knows someone cares!!!"

ELVIS recorded almost 800 songs and made 31 movies! He received 3 Grammies for his Gospel Music! He was deeply religious! He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi in the ghetto! He was extremely poverty stricken, growing up! When he was 14, his Daddy moved the family to Memphis! He lived in the projects there! His best friends were all black. In fact, B.B. King was his very best friend! Besides trying to bring blacks and whites together, he was an unbelievable humanitarian! He gave so much money to the poor and disabled! In my opinion, ELVIS was the best entertainer that ever lived! The quote you are trying to think of was Jesus would spew them 20:30 out like dogs vommit! ELVIS was, is, and always be the KING of ROCK and Roll! By the way, he hated to be called KING! HE once stopped a concert to say that "There is only one KING, and that is Jesus Christ! He loved GOD very much! Please play "If I Could Dream"! His manager told him not to sing it. But, ELVIS sang it anyway! He was good friends with Martin Luther King and he was assassinated 2 months before HE sang it as a tribute, to him! He truly loved ALL people! His voice was a masterpiece! And of course, his looks, charisma, and dance moves didn't hurt! He was amazing and paved the way for the future of Rock and Roll! He was and is a living legend!

    Thanks for your reaction.
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory.
Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off.
As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ua-cam.com/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/v-deo.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

As far as Elvis' relationship with God went: he would literally give you the shirt off his back. On UA-cam you can find many clips of people who knew him personally who talk about his generosity and several of them mentioned that you'd better not give him a compliment about something he was wearing, whether it was a piece of jewelry or clothing, because he'd take it off and give it to you. His generosity was legendary, toward charities as well as individuals. And not just to individuals he knew personally, but absolute strangers. Yes, he was a flawed person, but deep inside/instinctively he tried to follow the ways of Jesus. First and foremost when people called him the King, his standard reply would be that there was only one king "Our Lord, Jesus Christ". And aside from that he helped anybody who reached out to him or those of whose hardship he learned through reading it in the paper or in letters or when somebody informed him about it.

Elvis was first and foremost a gospel singer, and he said he moved the same way in church that he moved on stage. He once said, "I'd never do anything that I thought was vulgar in front of my Mama." I'm sure Elvis made some mistakes, but underneath he had a heart of gold and it showed.

I am a child of the 50's and now 80. Tell ya the truth all we had back then was radio and some had black and white TV.
I heard him on radio before I saw him and loved his music. When he came on TV the first time he actually was strange to us. My dad didn't even think he was vulgar, he said the guy looks like he's falling to pieces. He looked very nervous and animated. I didn't think it was sexual I just thought he was very handsome. He had long hair when guys were wearing crew cuts. Obviously when he got real popular he stepped up his game. I truly don't think he thought he was vulgar. And he ended up singing more love songs than any rock stars. And I never saw a rock star that had at least one hymn or gospel song in every concert. He did. In fact he almost didn't go on Sullivan one time because they refused to let him sing peace in the valley. I can't change anyone's opinion but Elvis stayed true to his beliefs till the end, and I think God welcomed him home

Totally respect you both. Elvis wasn't disrespectful in his moves. He would NEVER move in a way that would be inappropriate in front of his mama!! He moved with the music. It wasn't gyrating, it's just that people back then have never seen anyone move like that. Ya have to remember to, it was horrible times of segregation too. When Elvis was coming up in the music world in 1958 the issue was not the movements. It was he was singing black music and bringing R&B music to a white music. Until the white stations found out that he was white they would not play his music. The whole point of this video is to show that black musicians did not have a problem with Elvis and did not see him as appropriating black music. Elvis was not racist as some people have been told and continue to perpetuate an untruth.

He did nothing wrong he didn't ask anyone to watch him dance if people didn't like it don't watch him period. I loved the way he danced and i am just 2 yrs younger than Elvis he was my friend and i loved everything about him. I loved Pastor Brewster he was a very loving man but sadly we lost him October 15th 1987 at 90 yrs young. I loved to hear him preach R.I.P. Rev. Brewster he actually baptized me when i was a child i miss him so much. God gave Elvis his talent if God hated dancing he would not of given Elvis his beautiful talent. Prayers to you from the one and only Memphis Tn. btw i am 87 yrs young and i am a fan of TUPAC my daughter introduced me to his music forever ago. I love God as well he let me live this long but my time is almost up cancer got me but my time on earth and my friendship with Elvis and my sweet Priscilla was the biggest honor of this old ladies life. And i have been married over 50 yrs. to the same man. in closing.... Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared~~Tupac 💗❣

Christians 🙄 he was only dancing he didn’t drink or smoke when he first started. He went to church with his parents and came from a religious background. Reading up on elvis and really learning about who he was deep down inside is what people need to do. Do not judge unless you want to be judged. Only one person can judge and he sits at the right hand of the father. This is why I left religion a long time ago. So biased and judgmental.

@sherrera66. • Remember when they first started their Channel? Right away they tore on ELVIS. Like how could he be a Christian?
Anyway, there's something that isn't right with these two. They're overboard on what they like; and snidelly and everything they don't, already prejudging.
THANK YOU for your insight! 😊

Big Elvis fan here. Not a day goes by when I don't think of this beautiful person. Equally, full respect to you for your insights whilst being kind to Elvis the man at the same time. It's so easy to lose focus and to agree automatically just to please others. Your thoughts and, I would say, understanding make this a fine reaction video. By the way, the gyrations, were natural - the "Elvis" movie by Baz Luhrman spends some time highlighting the churches, showing the young boy electrified by the preachers and congregation. The energetic movements were a part of his existence from the age of two, when his mother said he ran down the aisle to join in with the choir.

He didn’t let in a little bit. They were full of hatred to a man who’s life was for the Lord. He was extremely spiritual. To feel the music is a beautiful thing. Dancing is an art and if you listen to him actually singing gospel ballads, you would cry. He had a beautiful voice and a beautiful love for Jesus. People only see this early Elvis but he sang Peace in the Valley on national TV which nobody did at that time. He sang it for his mom. That’s the kind of man he was. He was a humble, loving and extremely generous man. I felt like you both lectured too much. You’re very negative for so called Christians. I’m Christian and I was taught to love everyone and not to judge. Jesus said we shouldn’t judge unless we’ve done nothing wrong. We’ve all done things other people think are wrong but Jesus loved everyone and his was a God given talent. His voice kept people from suicide, he brings them out of depression. Check out his Gospel music and his ballads. God made a beautiful man with a beautiful heart that Helmsley those in despair. He truly loved his brothers, regardless of color etc. He truly led a life of Jesus and had the Bible with him where ever he went. If you learn about Elvis, I guarantee you’d lecture about him and Jesus in a different way. God bless both of you. ❤❤❤😂

We all embraced God in different ways. We are all not perfect, these people in this video, they were Racist and used God as their way of putting their racist messages across. Elvis loved people of all colours, nothing was black or white to him. They hated him, and some still do now, because they dont know the man himself, so prejudice still alive today when comes to Elvis. He was one hell of a misunderstood young man, but guess what, out of everyone, the World still loved and rememembered this man. Go back to this era, were they really Christians, they were probably the worst behind closed doors. Is moving hips a sin? Elvis went to Pentecostal church and they dance and move. That is how they worshipped God/Lord. I love this man for his love, humanity and humbleness. People called him a King, he said there is only one King and that is God. We need to be opened minded, these were different times, what they have now is SHOCKING and to look at Elvis moves then and them now?????? Elvis was the first Superstar and he represented the younger generations of that time, who just wanted a change of music from their parents. I respect your views as Christians but we just need to look at those times, racism, segregations, times were terrible then. It was a whitemans world then. Even if you are innocent, they will still accuse you of something if you dont roll the way they want you to. I am from the Pacific Islands living in New Zealand, and I love this man, for his music, humanity and humbleness.

Elvis never did lewd dance moves. You are assuming what those people said about him has some truth. Elvis learned a lot of those dance moves in church, and from old-time gospel groups. You truly did miss the point of the video and talked through some the most important parts. Elvis’ biggest influences we’re old southern gospel groups like the Blackwood Brothers and The Statesmen. Research those two groups, and then explain how they were a bad influence. ???

Who else besides Elvis could sing a Gospel song in his Rock n Roll concert? There's no telling how many people heard their first Gospel song by being at an Elvis concert! Gospel was always Elvis's favorite kind of music & what he would play & sing off the concert stage. Other than in rehearsals). Elvis was human & made mistakes just like everyone else but grew up in Church & never forgot that God loved him! The world would be a lot better place if there were more like Elvis in it! 🙏❤️🙏

Elvis grew up in the Pentecostal church and they danced and raised their hands when they sang and worshipped. Elvis actually shook his legs at the beginning because he was nervous, but I know he didn’t think it was lewd-he had seen it done in church.
Also, I think we have to remember we don’t control the outcome of our actions-God does. I do not think Elvis had any idea that his singing and dancing would have the effect on people that it did-he honestly thought that after about 3 years things would die down and he would have a “normal” life-he was constantly asking people if he should be preaching, or only singing gospel-he struggled frequently with how he was supposed to invest his talents.

Please quit saying Elvis danced provocative. He was not GYRATING. Since he was 3 years old, he danced in church, moving and shaking his legs. It was NOT considered improper except by the people who were racist and thought he sounded black. Im tired of the bad comments for someone who gave so much to so many. Elvis did not like to be called the King, as he stated there is only one King, Our Heavenly Father. He loved the Lord, and always had his Bibles travel with him. He would hold bible studies with his friends and bodyguards as he wanted to bring everyone to know and love God, but he didn't ridicule or judge people. He preached to love one another as Jesus did. So please be kind. Elvis was not a perfect man, but he did want to try and be the man that God wanted him to be. He prayed a lot and asked for divine guidance. I appreciate how he sang gospel music in all of his concerts. How many singers did that? Not any that i know unless all they sang was gospel. God gave us a beautiful gift in Elvis, not only with his voice, but
how he shared his love of people and of God. You should thank God for giving such a beautiful person to the world.

It starts off about a bad review Elvis received about his performing and it also says some horrible things about his fans who Elvis defends. It goes on to talk about his church and his dance moves. Very interesting interview. Elvis says how his moves are not meant to be sexual and how he's just feeling the music.

Elvis had his first hit "Thats Alright Mama" in 1954.
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Bo Diddiley all had their first hits in 1955. ELvis was influenced by Big Boy Crudup, Willie DIxon, Muddy Waters etc from blues
One thing that seems to be ignored is Rock and Roll was not just blues-it was a combination of country, blues, pop of the era and gospel music. All 4 of these became rock and roll.
BUT he was also influenced by Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow, Hank WIlliams etc from country music.
And influenced by Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and others from pop music of the era
NOT to forget he was born in Tupelo Mississippi and lived on the poor black side of town where he went to black and white churches and loved gospel music. He "organically" was drenched in the black culture of the south,
I must point out that Chuck Berry was influenced greatly by country artists-his first hit "Maybelline" was actually a country artist Bob Wills song from the 40s "Ida Red" that Chuck wrote new lyrics for and sped up.
No one says Chuck stole from country-he was influenced by country.
Ray Charles had several hits with "cover versions" of country songs-some of the first music he heard as a child was from the "
Grand ole Opry on radio. He was influenced by country-no one says he stole from it.
BB King who was a great friend with Elvis said:
"Once a music is exposed to us, anyone can take or add to it -music is for everyone" and he added "to me they did not get it wrong when they called him the King"
James Brown was one of the few people who was allowed to visit the “King” at his open coffin. “He was in there for hours,” Elvis’ guitarist James Burton recalled in an interview. “I think they had to drag him away because he wouldn’t leave.” 😮🥰

Elvis disliked it intensely when people referred to him as the King of Rock and Roll - his retort would always be: " There is only one King - Jesus! " As a person born in the 1950's I grew up listening to and loving his music, especially his Gospel music and hymns. He had a beautiful soul, please don't judge him too harshly, he had a very hard and rough childhood. Much love and respect from Durban, South Africa 🇿🇦

So funny because Elvis learned a lot of his moves from his early experiences in predominantly Black church services. His physical expression of, and his feel for, the rhythmic beat of a lot of that rousing Southern Gospel music is blatantly evident. Surely you've seen such unbridled behavior in church-tent revival meetings, folks filled with the "Holy Ghost" who jump up out of the pews and start doing the boogaloo down the aisles! Especially when they had a band with a thumping bass and some cat was wailing on a good ol' Hammond B3 keyboard! Elvis had absorbed the spirit and vibe of that form of musical and physical expression and fused it with Country and Blues.

Elvis' family had their own church and being charismatic in worship is not exclusive only by minority churches. it exists on both sides, esp via fundamentalist in nature. I don't think he copied anyone though, his style was pretty unique to himself.

Ok now that we have gone over Elvis' short comings, it is only fair to show his other side in fairness react to "Elvis Presley King of Kindness" and "Elvis Presley A Generous Heart". That is what no one ever does. You can't just rate a person on one side of his life. Thanks

You can't have the light without the darkness and unfortunately we will always have both. Elvis helped shine a light into the darkness and exposed the pseudo Christians of his time. We will have more darkness but we will have more light. There is no one good but one.

I think y’all missed the message of this video. The video is about the impact Elvis had on the black community. It’s a video to show you that the rumors about Elvis being a racist are unfounded. It’s not about his relationship with Christ or whether anyone on this video had a relationship with Christ. I appreciate that y’all wanted to speak to truth, but you both came across as pretty judgmental. I’m not unsubscribing, but I do hope y’all take a step back and re-evaluate this video and your reaction to it.

You will know them by their fruits. Don't fail to see how he stood up for blacks. And his humanitarian deeds. He showed up as the only white person at BB Kings charity for sick black children. Watch, "Elvis Presley King of Kindness" he gave away as much as he made. He put his money where his mouth was. Thanks for trying, to react to Elvis. Every time they called him the king, he said the only king is Jesus Christ.

    - - - This film has done a lot to bring the truth to the general public regarding Elvis, but it is also leaving a big hole in the story. While Elvis was heavily influenced by blues, this documentary & the Austin Butler film on Elvis totally eliminated the other major influences in Elvis' music. American music & Elvis' influences came from nearly every genre, especially Country Music, Pop Crooners like his biggest idol, Dean Martin & Bing Crosby, and Opera/classical like Mario Lanza. We should also mention Bluegrass, with performers like Flatt & Scruggs. If you never neard Foggy Mountain Breakdown by them, you're in for an eyeopener of another factor that contributed to rock.
As for Gospel, Elvis first sang in his family's own church, not the minority one, and it was the Assembly of God Church when he was younger. He listened to church music on both sides, so traditional European Hymns were what he sang in his family's church.

I'm happy you have each other to keep each other strong..Elvis loved the Lord. He knew where his gifts and blessing came from and gave it up to Jesus every chance he got. He was sitting in the bathroom reading a book called " The Scientific Search for Christ " when he died. I think he met God on good terms. I wish yall well and a blessed 2024.

You’re also “judging” & as Christians you should know better than to judge as you did, only the Almighty God can judge… don’t get me wrong, I understand a reaction to a documentary & one’s liberal rights, but Both of you crossed the line bring God into this, again, only God can judge. Hey guys, Because of Elvis, not only in music but segregation in general. You both did not say anything about the restaurants that would not serve black people. Elvis broke down those barriers as well. He demanded fair treatment for all people. Through Elvis many doors were opened for the black community. Not just music. These were times when the south was against blacks being treated fairly across the nation. God is judge. No one else should put themselves in his position. Hip hop has taken it to a whole new disgusting level. These people are only allowed to do what they do today because of the Democrats giving into the liberal movement to keep the black vote. People of today do not give a crap about respect for themselves or anyone else. Elvis demanded respect for himself and others that were traveled and performed with him. There is good and bad in everything in our lives. Elvis would have never crossed the line that his mother raised him with. God blessed him and used him to help the division of race in those times. Black gospel wasn't even allowed to be played on the radio. So it was a race barrier that only through Elvis Presley those walls came tumbling down! This documentary is about the good in Elvis that I feel you both tore him down based on what is happening in this world today😢. I am disappointed in how you reacted to this great documentary showing Elvis was not a racist. He was accused of being a racist most of his life. I hope no one else requests your opinions because you all missed the mark on this video. ❤ That's too bad. Elvis was not perfect by any means and he was the first to acknowledge this. 😢

The 1950s was a very racist time in which segregation was the law in the South. So the out cry by some in the White community regarding Elvis' movements were in part fear of their kids expressing their sexuality but mostly it was fear of integration. As the old footage evidences some in the White community were afraid that if their kids started to like Black music then it wouldn't be long before they started to like Black people and, "heaven forbid," maybe even want to marry a Black person, which at the time was illegal in some states. The loss of their racist power structure was the main fear some in the White community had of Elvis. Because he was the most popular person integrating music he was breaking down racial barriers and long held racist beliefs, which was desperately needed.

Given that Elvis de-segregated out music, R&B/Soul/everyone (not just rock) own him a debt for breaking that concrete wall that existed. After Elvis fought the media, movies, TV, & radio, minority artists began charting with regularity, and got media exposure. This was clearly Elvis' doing.

His moves were far from anything provocative or door opening to anything immoral.... Elvis just allowed the music, the rhythm & his heart guide his steps.
