MONSTER Lake Ontario Walleye - FROM A KAYAK!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 жов 2024
- FINALLY! The Collin's Bay skunk is off my kayak! When I decided to go out that day, I never imagined I would catch the biggest walleye I've ever seen with my own eyes!
I attribute it mostly to my Garmin Striker 4 Portable Fish Finder. Sure, I might have caught it anyways, but without being able to see what depth i'm in and what the bottom looks like, I may never have stopped at that spot to throw my oddly rigged xzonelures tube over the drop!

Hahaha! YEAH DUDE! What a beast. Big smile on my face knowing exactly what that excitement feels like. That was a giant. Congrats dude 🤘🏻
Thanks brother, I was so excited I could barely formulate a sentence! It was so heavy I was afraid my lip gripper was going to rip it's raw in half!
I was so excited watching you bring that in bro
Wow dude Wow
Hah yea, that's what I thought too! At the time I was totally unprepared to catch a walleye that big lol I'm ready for the next one now, though 👍🎣👊
Wow! massive fish
What a great catch. Your enthusiasm was priceless
Awesome dude
Thanks man, it was a great fight!
Hey, I live pretty darn close to that dock, just bought a pelican sentinel 100x fishing kayak and going to launch at that doc soon! That's one monster fish you caught! I got a 3.5-4.5 lb bass near the bridge the other day by an accident lol.
Your wife deserves the best comment award of the year! haha, awesome dude keep the spirit and share it with others new or beginners!
Haha she definately does! She knows how excited I get when I get into catching fish, even the small ones but especially the big ones 😂
congrats!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Right on! That’s an awesome catch, congrats!
Thanks brother, I wasn't expecting to hook into any walleye at all, let alone a tank like that one
How do you determine which way to cast after seeing them on the fish finder ? Are they far away or right under the boat ?
Generally if you're seeing them on your screen it means they are right below you. That goes for any fish finder using the traditional 2D sonar screen and down imaging. Once you get into stuff like side imaging and livescope it's a whole different ballgame.
@@jeffdicks lol not ready for side image . This is all new way of fishing. Great catch .thanks for the information really helped
Np! Glad I could help!
Great video..i know the feeling when you hook into a big one!
For sure, that was a trophy walter, I've yet to catch another one like it since
New to your channel. Fat toad you caught there! Nice job. I have the Striker 4 and love it. Worth every penny. I use it in a variety of different situations and it saves hours in time figuring out newer water.
Hey man thanks! I follow you on Instagram but I didn't realize you have a UA-cam channel too! I am super happy with my Striker4 too. Like I said in the video, it really has changed the way I fish!
Awesome surprise catch! That's wicked!
How deep were you fishing? What time of year?
This was November I believe, and I recall it being in about 28-30 feet
That was a big one, excellent! I wanna get me a little garmin to find the school's
That striker4 portable unit has been a game changer on the kayak for me, and when the water is frozen over, I take it on the ice. This unit literally sees use 12 months out of the year for me and I love it!
@@jeffdicks same just got it
10+ fish dude congrats wow. love the phone call too
Thanks it was definately a monster! I thought I had a lake trout or something on for a little bit!
What kind of Kayak are you in???
I just ordered me a Striker 4 last night.
Can’t wait to get it on the ice and in my Kayak.
This one was an older Pelican Strike 120x, I've since upgraded to Jackson Liska from Frontenac Outfitters Canoe and Kayak Center here in Southeastern Ontario.
Jeff, what body of water were you fishing on in this video. Looking for a launch site location, if you can advise Thanks
This was on Lake Ontario. Colin's Bay, specifically. There's a pretty popular boat ramp on Bath Road next to the church. It's called the Colin's Bay Pier, thats where I launch from pretty much every time I go to Colin's Bay in my kayak or my boat.
@@jeffdicks Thanks, much appreciated.
Was so happy for u lol ur like me I’m done going home 😂
What an awesome video. Your wife’s comment at the end had me dying. Just bought one of the strikers and mounted it, can’t wait to test it out. Definitely going to subscribe.
Nice fish! I have the same fish finder and I love it. I used a magnet mount to fit it so that I can use the finder on my kayak or boat. Also when I paddle around to scout a new area and find fish I troll a lure with the rod behind me and the drag set on very loose. You catch a good number of fish that way while getting the depths of water and identifying structure.
Yea I'm really happy with the performance of my striker4! I can't wait to use it more and really dial in the settings the way I want them. I don't do a lot of trolling with my kayak though. I'm still pretty new to it and I haven't figured out a way I like while paddling.
I modified the catch 120 rod holder into fish finder holder. Its the perfect location to put your fish finder.
Is that an "evil" head beanie?
Hah it is! From my old days of paintball. It's probably 15 years old and still my fav, even though I don't play anymore :P
@@jeffdicks aw sad day. ya bro. I still have my evil minion and head bands. Don't ever get rid of it. Love it!!
Duuuuude
lol Nice walleye! I just ordered the same setup for my first season on the ice in over 25 years. Hoping it helps put me on the fish to get my girls into ice fishing. Also thinking I may try picking up a small boat in the spring and being able to use this unit all year long was a big draw for me. Are you going to do any ice fishing?
I'm in the same boat, so to speak 🤣 this will be my first year ice fishing as well. That's what made my Garmin unit a no brainer. Works on the kayak and on the ice! From the videos that I've watched on how it performs on the ice, I've got high expectations. I can't wait to give'r a go when it's thick enough around here. And you bet I'll have a video of my own about it :P
Ha ha, "almost as big as my foot". Nice man. Subbed. I'd love to have you stop by my channel sometime.
Hey thanks so much! I went and checked out your channel, I loved the video of you catching carp with.your boys! I can really appreciate the effort of taking kids fishing, and the sentiment of conservation about teaching them on a resilient fish like carp over something like trout that can be a little more delicate! Consider me a new subscriber!
Paddle leash the net bruhhhh.
Right!? I'll be honest though, the only thing on my kayak thats leashed IS my paddle lol. I DIY'd a bunch of them but I never use them.. maybe I should start..
Nice I just got one for myself a couple weeks ago I can't wait to use it hey I got a Scotty mount for mine that's what it's called Scotty Mount go on eBay $17
That's awesome! I'm not sure if I'll be putting too much effort into finding a way to mount it to my pelican though, I may be upgrading for the 2020 season :P
