If you don’t cut the crn all the way through, then grind the little ‘L’ shaped crn bracket tough welds, the window frame pulls apart and you dont get the big gap at the front when putting it back together. I just super glued the original crn brackets back in. They slide back in together nicely!!
Come_Adrift yeah it does. Just thought id mention it as i just noticed it by chance when i when to do it after watching your vid. Thanks for the video heaps awesome!!
Hey mate, we have a plan to do a walk through vid of the bus but so far havnt. Our slide out kitchen is 2m slides i found on a truck website. The bbq is a ziegler tripple grill and the door is a coast rv "coast door 4" i literally bought the bbq then found the door to fit it hahaha. The kitchen is then a slab of spotted gum with a sink and wok burner a set of draws and a timber frame made from 2x4 treated pine with a clear coated ply on it. We also made a box internally so the whole kitchen slides into its own compartment so theres no smell from the bbq indoors. Hope that helps. I highly recommend the bbq and love our whole kitchen!
Awesome job ,are you trying to keep weight down to drive in on a car lic???? Carrol springs in sydney supply and fit rear leaf suspension that is reduced load rated ,once done you can drive it on a car lic no matter the weight of build ,a little trick of the trade
We finished the build awhile ago, not sure how that works when allain roads care about is the gvm.. if your gvm is over 4.5t you go onto heavy vehicle plates. Our bus is 5.2t loaded so we are classed as heavy vehicle.
@@come_adrift8448 new leaf springs are only load rated as 4000kg ,once engineered cert is done , its offical , rms nsw approved the mods but all good still doing mine lol
Not sure exactly what you mean, if the bus comes in under 4.5t you can just get the gvm rated to 4.495 and without any suspension change you can then register as whatever a d drive on car licence.. if at any point you get weighed and uour over the 4.5t youll get put off tbe road though
Nice job! Do you think the glazing channel is wide enough to accept a thin insulated alu-composite board? They’re more expensive, but there’s a number of options in a range of thicknesses, and as I’m in a cold climate that may be a good option for me.
Hi - thanks! We put the alu composite which was 3mm or so in and then have done 2 layers of foil board (same as @Jaffasoft) then finished the wall with corflute.
as in do we have plans all drawn up? we have insulated the rear behind them and then sheeted the wall and this will be the backing for our fridge compartment and our electrical cupboard. also our shower. doing this will keep alot of heat off the fridge and electrical goodies
Excellent video thank you for sharing how you did it! I am going to want to do this when I get a coaster so found it very helpful. You explained it very clearly :)
Hey unfortunately I don't remember the size of the panel however the thickness was around 3mm from memory maybe slightly bigger. It's a standard panel you can get from a sign place. We just measured the size of the visible window and added a bit for the Sil, alternatively you could remove the window and measure it
Hey mate what product do you mean? www.selleys.com.au/products/car-care/glass-and-windscreen/selleys-d-mastic/ Thats the mastic i beleive. Double check the video i beleive it was D mastic, it was quite a while ago.
You dont have to cut the frame, you just push it apart. If tge aluminium panel is not the same thickness as the glass, the window/panel will leak as the seal won't be able to seal against the thinner material
Yeah of course if you put 1mm panel in instead of the standard 3mm like we said in the vid. If you don't cut the window frame then your going to have to make the panel shorter and narrower to get it inside the frame then it will end up loose and could get water in. The way we've done it, it's tight inside the frame and we tested with a hose from the outside with no issues. My one recommendation is to use twice as much butane mastic as you think you need to get the seal between the window frame and bus frame.
This is amazing I've been looking for something like for a while - was considering creating using a steel plate (with rivets and sikaflex). I have a toyota hiace commuter and my windows are ROUND. Do you think I'd still be able to do this? I can't find any information that comes close to what you have provided. What legends!
Hey mate thanks alot. We made it for that reason hahaha. Possibly you could take the window out and trace it on ally panel. Or put the panel on over the top maybe??
@@come_adrift8448 I reckon I could trace it on cardboard.. that would be ok. You mentioned in the video getting the ally panel cut at a sign makers, why didn't you cut it yourselves? is it a difficult material to cut into?
@@tzaraattwater5783 hey, no its not hard to cut at all. If you want straight lines then you can use a straight edge and then score it with a stanly knive, then snap the section off.. maybe try and look for video about that, its really easy to work with. You could trace and then mark and trim with a grinder aswell. Messy but that may help with rounded corners
Hey mate to remove the stoppers, just grip with a set F jaws or vice grips and rock back n forth. They are a screw from the underside into a hard plastic so basically just strip the thread out with force. We then used packing tape to push the screws to the end of the frames to remove them. GL
Hey mate yeah no worries. I suggest you join a toyota coaster facebook page and then hit the search bar and write window stopper removal etc. All we did was open the window, grip them with a set of multi grips and wiggle back and forth untill the screws pull out. They are made of a hard plastic so with enough force the screws will break free.. then we used a piece of plastic strap to push the screws to the end and they fall out of the sil. Hope that helps mate.

Love your videos. Do you have videos of the rest of your bus Reno. Particularly like your slide out bbq

Hi Guys,
Any clues on removing rear tinted fixed quarterglass panels without destroying them? i will replace with alipanel
Hey unfortunately not, we didn't takle them sorry. Enjoy that one 😬

Yeah mate, from memory one side can be done first then slide the window all the way open to do the other.
There are actually zero "wimdow stopper removal" tutorials. Can you point me in the right direction please

I used a multi-tool. Doesn’t damage the window glass and took just a couple of minutes to do each one.
