You, are a LEGEND!!!! This job is not high on my want to do it list! after taking them out and literally having my fingers stuck together with mastic and taking 3 days with eventually get it off my hands, I don't want to do it again 😁🤦😂
Yeah doing the windows sure is a big job and I certainly am not keen to ever do it again! I found mineral turps was good for getting the mastic off my hands. You only need a small amount on a rag to wipe it off. Although, getting it out from around your fingernails is a whole other story!
Great video. I may never replace windows in vehicles but I'm impressed at the thought you have put into making this one and the number of items you thought to mention for those that have never done this before. Hubby thinks you are pretty sharp and said he hasn't heard anything he didn't agree with!
Great video, just two quick points…If you are going to tint your windows go to the trouble of painting the centre rail matt black whilst it is out ( if you tint after putting the glass back in then from the outside you see the discoloured metal rail in the middle) and secondly: you can also use wax and grease remover to clean up or clean off the mastic.
Great summery of important points, thank you! Have put myself through the same odyssey and hence appreciate your work. Just wondering why you didn't tint the windows while they're out which is a lot easier for a number of reasons. You can clean the pains of glass to perfection without a fuss in preparation to receive the tint, squeegeeing the bubbles out is much simpler and trimming the tint with a straight edge just 2 millimeters short of the pain's edges is exponentially easier and entirely prevents any light gaps. Keep up the great work :)
I was originally going to tint the windows myself while they were out, but I struggled so much even trying to get them clean enough to start. I live in a pretty dusty environment, and in the end, I decided to pay the money to have them professionally done. I did ask if they would prefer to have the glass out or not and they said it didn't really matter. I was worried I would scratch the new tint when I reassembled the windows, so I decided to have them do the tinting after I put them back in. I just picked the bus up today and am very happy with the job they did and glad I paid the money to have it done.
@@AGirlADogandABus oh no that's terrible I'm thinking of getting one im just worried about things like that is there any other way to seal it without taking entire thing off and putting new sealing?
@@jthomasp8591 I'm not sure. You could use a sealant like sikaflex on the outside but then you wouldn't be able to slide the windows open. To do it properly I think you'd need to take the window out and replace the seal (assuming that was where the water was getting in). Also, if there is a leak, you would want to make sure there is no rust forming under the window frame, so taking it out lets you have a good look and clean it up.

Did they need to be replaced because they were leaking??
Yes a couple were leaking and all of them were obviously deteriorating and not sitting well in the frames.
