I have mine for about 3 years now and it is still a beast, coming from the FZ300 this was a great choice!
yeah ive upgraded to this from the fz300, the 12mp just hasn't been enough for me

I am looking to purchase one of these in the near future for a Spring video/stills shoot.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but was this video shot with the FZ1000? If so, was the video captured internally or externally? I only ask because other camera companies have been known to shoot marketing videos with higher grade cameras than the camera they're actually marketing. Thanks.
Not certain about the shots of the guy with the camera up close, but I'm sure all the other footage (outside, the girl singing, etc.) are from the FZ1000, which is pretty impressive!

This video has great quality. What was it shot on? The actual 'story' is so lame and many of the sample shots are very boring. Interesting camera though, I like Panasonic.

I truly believe that it impossible to get the bird of prey full screen with just th 16x (400mm euqivalent) lens.
I currently have difficulty with my 50x optical zoom (2100mm equivalent)
But I am looking to 4k video with zoom
LOL, right? It's difficult to track, and the quality of the image (because of the zoom) isn't as clear and sharp.

Wow! GH4-like video quality. I wish GH4 had this 20.1MP sensor too. for the FZ1000, I wish Panasonic made a weather sealed body built just like Sony's RX10.
The sound effect for the motorcycle isn't a BMW GS. Sounds like a Japanese V-twin. Why wouldn't Panasonic want to get that right?

not constant aperture :/
No constant f/2.8 aperture? No touch screen? No screen protection like the Lumix G6? No 3.5mm headphone jack? I would prefer a 12x constant f/2.8 and a touch screen, cause my FZ200 screen is totally scratched and no touch screen as well... Then on the FZ200 the hi-speed video recording claimed in 720p HD, its not even real 720p, its pixel shifted which look like crap... I wonder this FZ1000 with it claimed 1080p at 120fps is real or just another pixel shifted marketing crap.... I pass, I’m going with Sony RX10.
Looks like yes its not a constant aperture lens!! But if you look carefully, this camera goes from 25-400mm f/2.8 to f/4. The most popular focal length is from 24-200mm. Just like the Sony RX10. So I'm guessing, if the length goes up to 400mm, then at 200mm should be still at f/2.8. Then it just feels like you have the Sony RX10 with extra f/4 zoom after 200mm :)

Already waiting for FZ1500, FZ2000 or whatever the successor will be called with weather sealing, touch screen and accessible battery while on tripod. Otherwise when I sell my two FZ1000s I'm going for Sony RX10III
no touch screen for focus, I hope it can do "touch screen" with a smartphone to focus and capture...

Very cheesy! did the man with the camera actually take the stills and video probably not.Did he ride the motorbike i doubt it,did anyone camp over night unlikely.What a load of ad agency video production company artifice.Superb camera though i want one.
The sharpness of video is excessive.
• 4K, who cares? not for now and worse if is not working properly
• Marketing use big numbers to fool customers
• The manual ring focus is useless and lack a lot if you do a slow focus
• Cannot change shutter speed in 4K mode
• Blurry & shaky viewfinder when focusing
• Once in a tripod, you got to disassemble everything to replace the battery or the memory
• No touch screen, this would have been better for manual-touche screen focus
• No MOV video mode, still the useless AVCHD mode that goes darker than MP4
• Memory still placed on the battery compartment, this is still BS
• No option to turn on the camera in Play mode only
• AF still has some problem, hunting and locking
• Can’t shoot tethered to a Laptop
• Its not that sharp at 400mm
• A Cheap-ass plastic body
• Has no PC Sync or 3.5mm Sync Socket
• No Extended ISO option in 4K mode
• The 240fps/720p options is not available (was presented at the conference)
• Viewfinder slows down in low light
• Not sealed body
• No constant aperture- f2.8 (Give me 200mm max but f/2.8 constant)
• Minimum aperture only F8
• IS doesn't work in full zoom in 4K, this is BS
• Internal noise on the lens while zooming and recording
• As usual, a 29:59 limited recording
• Poor battery life
• No headphone jack
• And more cons...
You do realize if all these problems were addressed, you would have a much more expensive camera, right?
you're in the wrong video sir, this camera cost 700 euros, you're asking for the 80k model.
