No doubt I have owned a 2002, 2006, and now a 2015 Silverado. The old ones had the pullout pins for access to the headlight housing. So much easier!!!!
I own a 2014 Chevy Silverado and years before it was much easier to do a small light bulb change they made it so difficult nowadays it's horrible and I want to thank you sir for this video
They made it where the dealership They can charge an hour to replace a simple lightbulb! Just another way to separate the owners from their money. Makes me angry at Chevrolet.
@@1AAuto My dust covers were a beast to get off. About 30 minutes for the passenger side. About 5-10 for the driver's side. 2015 Silverado. Thanks again!
You rock so much! I'm a girl with no tools (I will fix that situation) and by following your video, I did the whole thing with the Leatherman that my brother gave me. Edit: By the way, the radiator shroud was missing. Is that something I need to replace soon? I didn't even know it existed until I needed a headlight bulb replacement and watched this video.
My owners manual said I had to have the headlight bulbs replaced by the dealer. This video just saved me a huge expense, and probably a week of the truck being in the shop! Many thanks.
I know the guy who replaced the bulbs in this video! I worked at a gas station a while back and he would always pull up late at night with this old decked out golf. He also had a keep he would go off-roading with a lot of the time, till he blew up the diff one too many times. Keep up the great work!
Best step x step video in my opinion in years. All videos should be step x step just like this one. Do you have one on how to change/replace bulbs for 2015 Silverado LTZ 1500 fog lights? How would I go about installing HID lights in my headlights low and high beams, as well as my fog lights? Any video help would be awesome. Merry Christmas.
+Nrfa Here is a video that shows you how to replace the fog light bulbs in this truck. We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to upgrade to HID lights. Merry Christmas to you too ua-cam.com/video/tIhcjaZnECY/v-deo.html

Thank you for this. Now can we please find the moron GM engineer that designed this thing? Must be the same idiot that designed the spare tire storage system. I love my Chevy but they make it hard to do some of the simplest things.
Good video, but does not account for 2017 Silverado. I assume regarldess if it's a 1500/2500/3500. The headlight assembly is different, and the factory bulbs are xenon phillips all in ones (built in balast/igniter)
+Ryan Perez We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Okay, I basically just took the sensor off and plugged it back in again, firmly. Engine light cut off. This saved me the headache of spending money on a damn diagnostic. Thanks for the video!
Hey I followed your exact steps and everything went fine but my check engine light came on. I took out and plugged back in my air filter sensor but light stayed on. Any suggestions? It only came on after I took the air box out to put in my led bulbs.
Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, then reconnect. It should go away. If it comes back within 50 miles, go to a shop that does free OBDII scans. They'll tell you whatever code it's throwing.
I read some say you need the 9005 bulb some say you need the h11 bulb and then others say it's a different bulb that you van only get at the dealer? Can you clarify this please?
I purchased a 9005 for mine only to find out it didn’t work. I ended up needing the h11. I have a 2014 Silverado and am unsure if it changes based on the year. Your best bet is to remove the bad bulb to see which one you need.
Any direction on what I can do to fix my 2015 Chevy Silverado low beam passenger head light would be greatly appreciated. It's blew out twice so then I replaced the melted wire harness in back of the light bulb after that it lasted a few days and it blew out again. So, three times and now I'm just not driving at night. Really don't want to go to the dealer. I'm not touching the bulb Theres no condensation noted
+edgu71eg At this time we are unable to diagnose the issue you may be experiencing and would suggest contacting a local mechanic for further assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Ive been driving around in a 2001 Silverado and decided to get a newer chevy so i got a 2015. Why on earth did they make these so much more complicated and hard to get too??? My 2001 was right there and even the headlight assembly just had two pins and pulled right out.
My check engine light came on after I was done and turned on the truck to take it for a drive. I simply had to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect the cables and it reset the light.
i viewed this video numerous times, all but memorized it. but i just couldn't do it. NATURALLY my high beam bulb on the PASSENGER side - not the drivers side - needed to be replaced. the days of an owner doing basic repairs have been over decades ago. first, the red clip on MAS went flying somewhere in the engine compartment, cannot find it. STILL COULD NOT GET THE SENSOR TO COME OFF THE AIRBOX LID, EVEN WITHOUT THE RED CLIP TO HOLD IT ON! WTF. now, the lid couldn't be twisted to get it out of the way. so, i had to remove the support bracket that was preventing the airbox lid from getting out of the way. 2ND, then i couldn't get the air box separated from the hose. IT. JUST. WOULDN'T. COME. OFF. THE. F-ING. HOSE. 3rd, couldn't get the airbox bottom popped off the rad support. THIS was the point of giving up and reassembling and scheduling and pay a mechanic for a simple light bulb replacement, which means taking a day off work to go to the repair shop. thanks for the video, NOT YOUR FAULT, but repairs cannot be done by the owner any more.
The covers on my 2014 silverado 1500 don't even turn an ⅛ of a turn. They hit the grille support first. I had to pry them out with a large screw driver!😡 They weren't even close to the notches to release. I don't have enough clearance to even get them back on!
Wouldn't it be easier to use a panel popper tool instead of the screwdriver and wire cutters? Seems more risk in damaging fasteners than actually removing them for average people.
I agree, I busted my zip ties and those plastic snap rivets whatever they are called and u guys doing this in 30 minutes are the best . I’m still screwing around with my light smh
+Seymour Butts If the lever will not stay up or down to activate the turn signal, the camber inside may be worn. You might have to replace the turn signal if this is the case. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
The dust covers are extremely hard to turn whether removing or installing. You cannot really get a grip - and they are so tight you can barely push them in hard enough to turn them when replacing.
the air flow sensor is probably confused (if you unplug it)...disconnect the car battery, replug it in. The car's computer will recognize the sensor again (no more engine light)
All this to replace a simple lightbulb. It just occurred to me why this is. The dealership can bill at least an hour to replace a damn lightbulb! That’s crooked!

Awesome tutorial, I just changed mine only took a half hour, the dealer wanted $180.00. Thank you!

It's MUCH easier than the guys that designed the O7-13 Body style Tahoe/Suburban it was a nightmare to do a single bulb

Gee, I wonder if they made it hard so the average rube has to take it to the dealer and pay $100, for a $5 bulb?
Thanks, guys. Good video.
