This video was spot on with the task of headlight replacement. Thank you for posting this. Running light connections: Passenger side=>grey/purple stripe, Driver side=>purple wire. My job finished in about 2 hours using manual rachets and doing some clean up of the exposed parts.
I called the dealership gave them my VIN number to get my headlights that look like yours but doesn't have that extra red wire. I wish I would have gotten those instead because they do look cool.
Awesome video! My front side markers on my driver side went out and this helped me to do this job quickly, and efficiently. Like others said this is the best video that deals with this model headlights.
Very helpful. If I may share, I used 2inch fender washers to hold open up the lower trim clips (trim above the bumper). Then only had to fight the corner clips.
Very good info. Appreciate it. However, I think your last step should also show how to adjust your headlights to make sure they are not point down or up. :)
It has been 2 yrs since you had these lights did u experience any moisturizer in lights or anything else that would cause you not to recommend them to anyone like to know so I can go-ahead and get mine ordered
All the lights come on. The description said you have a DRL which means DRLs comes on when driving. Not these lights. DRLs come on with all the lights, 'bummer" Not what I wanted.
Hello. Great camera shots and audio. Im wondering if these aftermarket headlights will work to replace on my 2015 HIgh Country projector headlights. The wire for the daylight running lights can be identified with a multimeter? Just in case it is not the same color on my 2015 model. Thanks for the video!!!!!
Very nice video. I watched in a hurry. I need to watch it again. However, I have a question, do the fluorescent lights stay on all the time when the car is on? Thank you,
Hey I have a 2014 that clearly is the same 1as yours. Hen pulling up the link 1you shared, it says not compatible with 2014 I dont what is wrong, if it Amazon's miss print or what?
After reading the reviews for these lights on Amazon I'm not sure i wanna buy them. Any ideas on what would cause them to have condensation inside the lens and issues with adjustment ?
Well i just got a set installed. I guess im just gonna risk because they look awesome. Id suggest being gentle on them when using a pressure washer at the car wash. So far mine are fine
When buying headlights, try applying some good sealant that would be heat resistant to the outer seal of the headlights. Sometimes the factory may now apply the seals on correctly. I had some 03 model lights I bought for my older truck and I checked them. I applied a little sealant. Never had a problem with moisture getting in and trapped.
Check the vents. Sometimes they’re covered from manufacturer. Just peel off the plastic cover. Kinda like opening a new orange juice box take the cap off and remove the white plastic piece.
Hows that the drl strip is on but the low beam is not? Where did u tap the red wire? To the parking light? I asked because the original drl is the low beam so your new drl should be the low beam still plus the new drl strip.
My truck is a CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 LT the new modal Search for that exact headlights an says its not compatible... is it for the wiring you did for the daylight or something else ?
Same here. I actually went ahead and bought them anyways.. Took old lights out installed new ones on the passenger side he said it was a Gray wire with a purple stripe. But on mine it was a green wire with a purple stripe. However the driver side was a Single purple wire stated.. I hooked everything up and it didn't work properly. I think it's a wiring issue.
@@Nelson-0711 yea he said, "about $100". Ive been to him before but i thought damn, only $100, you gota take like the whole front end off and wire the daytime lights. Ill be there!. He called me when it was done and said it was gonna be $200. Im like cmooon Bob, you said about $100, not double that. He said, oh i did, ok but it took us like 4 hours, bunch of bullshit. Im like well thanks for honoring the price, ill toss ya $120 in cash, that way uncle same can go fuck himself.
Yes. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver of my memory is correct. Drivers side is easy. Passenger side requires removal of the stock air intake system
Sorry, I'm a girl who tries to do what she can by herself, but why in the hell does it take so many tools to change a freaking lightbulb???? Thank you though, this was a great video. If I can borrow some tools and do this myself, this is the video I'll follow, and I'll let you know how it went.
You’re not changing a light bulb. You’re changing the entire headlight housing. I still agree with your comment, though. Changing headlamps on older vehicles was much easier.
@@AaronHinesAuto another question, when in drive, for the daytime running lights, the top and bottom are lighted up, but does the low beam headlight still come on during the day when lights are on auto mode?
@@AaronHinesAuto on the headlights when you cut the wire and made it your drl did that stop the low beam as being the daytime running light? Very interested in that
@@jakeorfan5202 not sure if you're interested but I took the spring out of the headlight switch to prevent the headlights from automatically coming on.....which also solved the low beam drl function
Jake Orfan I have the same question. Looking to upgrade my headlights, but I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on headlights that will automatically use my low beam for DRL just like my stock ones do.

This is probably the most informative video I’ve seen about removing these headlights! Thanks a lot great video
Thanks for the kind words!!
Me 2 a whole year later
Wow manufacturers really made it hard to change a lightbulb. Thanks GM and other manufacturers for doing this on purpose.
Jeez this is just too much! I'm going to strap a freaking flashlight to the front of my truck and call it a day👍
Yea this is ridiculous for one headlight bulb.
The bulbs are easy to change there’s access from the engine bay. This is to change the whole housing.
You really did a fantastic job. I really would have liked to have seen a closer look at the red wires connection. Thanks for the video.
Probably the most straightforward and most understandable video I've ever seen! Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking the time to upload this video. It gave me the courage to change out my headlights by myself.
I called the dealership gave them my VIN number to get my headlights that look like yours but doesn't have that extra red wire. I wish I would have gotten those instead because they do look cool.
I would have likes to see a closer view of the wiring.

Excellent video for installing headlamps
just bought and installed the ones you have in the description, man they are awesome, make the truck look 100 percent better!
Same here. They look legit. Hopefully they last and don't fill up with condensation, ill be pissed, obviously.
Robert Witt So, have they held up pretty good?

Very good video, I wish they were all this good,
However, my lights have 2 extra wires, how do I connect them?
Do the led lights mess with your radio reception?

Very helpful video. Was that a farm truck filthy truck surprised they upgraded anything!!
Do the drl lights come alone or headlights run with them . I installed lights on my 2014 and couldn't get them to come on without headlights on
