  • Chad Reed reflects on his Supercross career, including his humble beginnings in Australia, rivalry with Ricky Carmichael and passion to win, as he says goodbye to Supercross with two races remaining in the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season in Salt Lak City. #SupercrossLIVE #ChadReed
Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is the most competitive and highest-profile off-road motorcycle racing championship on the planet. Over 17 weeks between January through May and a million-dollar All-Star Race, Supercross attracts some of the largest and most impressive crowds inside the most recognizable and prestigious stadiums in North America to race in front of nearly one million live fans and broadcast to millions more worldwide. The track takes all the exciting obstacles of outdoor riding-jumps, turns, and bumps-amplifies them, and puts them in easy view of spectators.
Founded in America and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1974, Supercross is currently co-sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the official global governing body for motorcycle racing, thus making it a formal World Championship.

I feel bad for my kids. They missed the golden ages of supercross and motocross. Im sure every generation says that. But idk man this felt different. Those group of guys, 2001 to 2017. Was just different, jason Lawrence, nico izzi, those rare guys we got to watch. And the OGs Dungey, Reed, Carmichael, stewart, villipoto, Mcgrath, hell even pastrana. The list goes on. Hes the last of his kind, the final guy who went as far as he could push himself. And here he is, the final race. A relic to the sport, one of the greats is leaving. Its really sad:( i feel like its kind of the new generation now. Us older folks gotta get used to it!

I’m 23 and grew up watching JS7 and Reed battle. Totally agree with you, the golden era. I always find myself watching old videos of Stewart, Reed, Carmichael and McGrath.

The time before the tracks were super smooth and perfectly groomed? If todays SX riders has to race those tracks they wouldn't know how to think. It took grit and balls to ride those tracks. To be fast too, that says alot.

When Ricky, Bubba and Chad were racing my favorite was Ricky ( I had a honda, ricky rose a Honda to victory). Then Bubba established himself as 'the fastest man on two wheels. But then as another crop of champions came and went and then another and Chad Reed was always the one thwarting their best efforts and taking second and third places behind 22, Chad's become my favorite of the three. By virtue of his longevity, speed, toughness and coolness , he's grown to be one of my all time favorite champions. Well done sir. Well done 22.

He was never my favorite rider, but much respect to him for rising up and truly racing Ryan Villopoto a few years back. No one can't say he wasn't going for it at any time, ever. One of the most consistent, great riders ever and great for the sport. It will seem weird seeing races without Chad Reed.

One of my favorite rider since 2002 he was riding Yamaha. In fact he also idolized Jeremy McGrath the king of Supercross. Chad also has an advantage on riding Yamaha, even in Motocross he also become a runner up and had a MX Champion in 2009.

I stood in line at his two two motorsport trailer in las vegas with three other people to get some stuff signed in 2013. We were the only four people standing in line there at 430pm to see chad. He was supposed to sign at 5pm or so his board said. While waiting there were people walking past behind us yelling sarcastic comments to him. I watched him talk to goose, wander around on his phone, look at his bike, have a bite to eat but not once did he come over to see the only four people who came to see him. Eventually at 530 goose came over and removed the sign, I asked him if chad was going to acknowledge us?? he told us it was too late now as he had to get ready to race, and told us to come back after the race!!! seriously everyone knows the pits are closed then. I didnt care as I was on a six week holiday but i did get talking to the lady and young boy who was waiting with us and my heart sank when she told us that she and her son came all the way from the hunter valley where chad is from just to see him and he blew that little boy off. It broke my heart and I hope that little kid went back home and tore all his posters off the wall. Never forget the people who put you up there in the first place reedy. sad man.
