You've just listened to Norwegian Death Metal. Besides Darkthrone there was Cadaver, Amputation, Vomit, Molested, Abhorrent, Fester, Embryonic, Mortem, Old Funeral started as a DM band and even Mayhem considered themselves DM until 90/91, when it became "too commercial" as they said.
Gonna do a guitar cover of this song in a freshmen talent show in my faculty in a few days. It's probably gonna feel weird to be playing death metal to a bunch of normal people who thinks that metal is nonsense, but that's what fills me with the anxiety and excitement to do it! Posting this here just to look back at it when i finally do it. Might update the comment once i do it aswell. It's gonna happen by 12/04 or 14/04.

I like all of Darkthrone's albums, including the way they reinvented themselves over the last 15 years, but Soulside Journey remains my favorite.
