“Life Eternal”, second single from Mayhem’s forthcoming "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive". Recorded and filmed in Norrköping, Sweden on December 18, 2015, whilst headlining the Black Christmass festival. This is the first time De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas was performed in its entity ever.
This is released by the band itself, under the brand Official Mayhem Release and you can pre-order it now via our webshop dmds.thetruemayhem.com. First 1000 vinyls numbered and 200 copies signed.

@@samael9418 Not sure. Plenty of the material for DMDS was written well before Dead killed himself, Necro leaving and Euro being murdered.
It's certainly one of the most iconic bass lines in BM, and Necro nails it.
Everyone is on point on this. Hellhammer's drums sound exactly as they did in the original record and Attila has somehow got better over the years. It's incredible

gerot201 imo he has always been good. Just that he sounds differents and a lot of people just want their regular black metal sound with a guy shouting like a pig. Attila s way of singing Dmds is just amazing.

We all know the studio version had a lot of complications and took forever to get out. They had time to rework some songs for Alive, and it definitely paid off; gotta agree with you. Attila really seems to have found his voice in a more solid way. The two guitars work super well, and everything else just sounds less muddy, and clearer. This is the definitive version; I absolutely believe this.

I dont think any other Black Metal band can get on Mayhem's level. These guys have been around since a long time and everything they've done so far has not been beaten. Great singers, excellent guitarrists and bassists, an outstanding drummer that has pretty much everything, an obscure and sinister theme, and one of the most controversial histories a band can ever have. Mayhem is simply flawless.

I can really compare black metal (especially Mayhem) with classical music (I love both genres). Both try to make an atmosphere and they mostly do it perfectly. Mayhem really make their music feel dark, they want you to experience what true fear is, which was Euronymous's intention in the 90's. For me black metal is always something which makes you feel like you are not on this world and, wether it would be death, alternative universes, Hell and something mythical. It's undoubtably art.

I find these lyrics to be so powerful. When you know who dead was the more you can piece together the meaning and context behind his words, I find the last part so heart breaking. "What you found was eternal death, no one will ever miss you" it sends a shiver up my spine

Well, the video is not properly edited. The sections aren't all matching.
It's called technique, many drummers use at least one.
Rie Matsumoto Triggers only amplify the sound and makes it clear, so more or less it makes it a the acoustic drumkit an electronic one. You still have to play every individual note yourself, so there's no cheating involved. Also, from the views we get throughout the video, looks like he has electronic pads, not triggers.
Rie Matsumoto He doesn't use triggers in this video! Only for his bass drums, and almost every metal drummer does that... And he uses only one electronic pad as gong example for the end of Funeral Fog and Buried by Time and Dust. Using triggers isn't cheating... If you think that you don't even know wtf triggers are! Have a good day!
I always imagined how it would be an live video for every song from De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, and this looks pretty much how I imagined Life Eternal! Simply amazing, plus the entire band is at its best musically, props.

Not really. This is the best track Mayhem has ever composed. Lyrics are absolutely amazing. Riffs and solo are otherworldly, bass line is supreme, Attila is at his very best here, just like Hellhammer. This is Mayhem's greatest moment.

Yeah Live In Leipzig has been reissued together with Live In Zeits, but they are reissues of both an old live album and an old bootleg.
Where are the others of which you speak? Cause the only one I can see are the European/US Legions and Live In Marseille and those were all released in 2001.
Do not Forget "Mediolanum Capta Est, which was recorded in Italy. I believe it was released originally in 1999.
I didn't but since there has been live recordings after Mediolanum I didn't have it on here.
There hasn't been anything new since at least 2001, and that's too damn long time!
And those live albums at that time are pretty much the same, and in very shitty condition.
Mediolanum is probably the best and and most varied live album they have yet in my opinion.
Live In Zeitz - august 2016 Official reissue from a completely different source. The original one was a bootleg. That counts a a new album

@@nesageera I think necro wrote the basslines for many songs of DMDS. Varg just recorded them, and added a few riffs here and there. If I remember correctly, someone emailed Varg about this song in particular, and he said that he didn't had anything to do with the composition of the bassline for this song.
