See the story got better and better until she left. Man, after finding an awesome buddy and mentor like that I'd just tell him to keep the ring, because he earned it. Someone who can help me be more than I would be alone is clearly my purpose, not a test to beat and pass.
I think I get it, in the beginning the shaman guy threw three rings into the water and they flew off somewhere in the direction of the island, there were also three kids. I think the animal the girl found was a rock, but one of the rings found it and turned it into an animal. I believe that must be part of the ritual, each kid gets a ring, and therefore a protector that they must befriend. Once they reach a level of trust, kinship, and maturity, their protector will give them back the ring, ending the ritual and sending the kid home but ultimately turning the animal back. I believe each kid has to learn to love and care enough so that another being can love and care for the kid in return and they therefore learn how to be kind and caring. they reached a certain level of love so that the animal was able to be willing to give up its existence to bring the girl back to her home to share her love. I believe the ritual teaches them a sense of love and loyalty and allows her to become who she is.
Steph Hall That is beautiful the way you worded it!
Timba puppy Thanks!
why I agree too
I agree but think the animals weren't rock at first just turned to stone because they finished their duty.☺
Greg Dys
Everyone is talking about how touching this is and the only thing that comes to _my_ mind is how weird everyone looks with their Popeye arms.
Josh Eti That's a choice in the graphic style
Bruh same
OuO do u not know the style
I guess they really like spinach.
I was thinking about the fact that her body-type is the exact same as a male raptor I drew XD
I'm guessing she was on that island for 6-8 years, based on her physical development. Seeing as how there are only 3 children sent out, and they're gone that long, I believe this is a special ritual for future tribal leaders.
Pacific Islanders are known to have thick bones in the arms and legs, and beefy forearms and lower legs. Her build is typical caricature. They're not quite that exaggerated irl, but you can see the same design in "Moana" and "Lilo and Stitch".
Smart
This was an amazing animation! The ending killed me but it was so heartwarming. I also really loved the art style too.
Cuddle Muffinz Thanks you a lot! We are proud to read comments like yours :D
Amaury ROSPARS you're very much welcome! Thank you for replying back!

I translated what you said and it doesn't make sense. Sorry
I agree
I think I get it. The kids each go to island as ritual to find oneself. to prevent outside influence each has decide on how they will chose to live when they become an adult. The girl tried to take his fish vs catching her own. But he took fish back so she could learn to catch her own. The other 2 kids might be going through the same thing but different situations. When mature they are sent back.

Yeah

I really believe this should be turned into a full length movie, keep the character designs and everything, i love everything about this short film.
I want more dang it.
Goosebumps. Just... Goosebumps.
I feel that it was her growing up, she has to figure out who she was. the creature was her guide or her child sprite that had to become mold because it couldn't go with her but it was also a big part of her. the other rocks were also stages of her life, but our childhood is the strongest. just like all children we are eager to grow up (eager for the boat to arrive) and we tend to forget what that means, but she knows that she can always return to that island and it will still be there. Its her journey from children hood into adult hood at least thats what i think
Oooh that makes way more sens
Beautiful. The excellent CG, yes, but how the touching story is portrayed. For me, there was much to gain throughout. The timeless story of love and sacrifice is my favorite. Thank you.
OMG THIS SHOULD TOTALLY BE A REAL MOVIE!!!! I would totally watch it!!!!!!!!!!
Love it, thanks!
Damn what kind of work out is she doing? Those forearms beefy as all hell but biceps? Nahhh you don't skip bicep day
JadeishWolf she dose the same amount of workout that I do in a year
Rong
JadeishWolf , lol your comment made me laugh after watching this sad film😂😃
She is related to Popeye, that explains the forearms.
@@muffins1262 like love
This was so sad but so beautiful. Love the style! I want to see a feature length film done in this style.
Thanks a lot!! :D
yip such an awesome style ;)
Thank you so much!
Maybe one day we'll see girl Tia in a lenght movie =)
yes! that would be awesome saying since so many of u guys want a full film too!
Ally Baldwin I just broke a tear ):,
Saying goodbye isn't easy.
Saw this when I was little and I still love it!
This was an example of how great storytelling can come from anyone & anywhere. It's a simple tale yet it's meaningful, has a lot of heart & leaves people wanting more, which is exactly why it's a wonderful sort film.
I personally would love to know everything about this. The inspiration for the story, why they chose this art medium, who did the character designs, etc.
This is definitely one of my favorites.

These videos are amazing
Incredible. Everything was amazingly done. Lighting, modeling, texturing, animation, composition, EVERYTHING!
I loved every frame!

+andre30461 yeah* you're* you*
Alex whateverthefuckmynameis Don't feed the troll.
+MichaelChin1994 Thank you very much!
+maeva gruaz Your work has been very inspiring for an animator like me. It's hard to find really great quality shorts that have so much passion in them.
movie is so fun I love it it's the one of the best movies ever !!!!please don't stop making them they're so fun 👍
There is a treasure trove of excellent stories waiting to be told without language barriers.
First, a lot of hunter-gather cultures would send young adults into the wild to survive on their own for a time. Usually it was a right of passage around age 9-13, and usually a few weeks to a month, sometimes one year. The only one I can think of more extreme than the one shown here is the Spartans.
Second, I am guessing the yeti is an imaginary friend, possibly a spirit guide. The idea and form was taken from an unusual rock formation on the beach. When the girl grew up and was ready to return to the village as an adult, she left her imaginary friend behind her.
Galen DuLac Thank you! I guess I just didnt pay enough attention to the beginning because I just didnt get the ending. Rewatched it after I read your comment and it then it made sense.
+Galen DuLac, I think you might be onto something here. The facts you put together with the film's plot seem make some kind of strange sense. You could have a very possible future as a detective.
+Susan MJ eye just didn't get it
+Galen DuLac It could also be whenever a parent raises you up to be an adult and lets you go.
+Galen DuLac Spartans dont do this i study greek mythology and history
I think that the Journey is the childhood, growing up and that the beast is fantasy, imagination
OMG THE GUY IS SO HANSOME!!
Aliya Rubinstein your crazy.
Aliya Rubinstein
That was so sweet and so sad. I wish I got to see what happened when she returned home to her family after so long.
This was beautiful. Animation, story just well done
+Evey Kano Thank you! =)
maeva gruaz you have a talent! I can see this as one of those mini movie shorts before an actual movie in the theater it's very original. It sends a message which is the most important factor in a movie short. Brilliant
+Liobi1 Slasher Hi! We were six students and made it as our graduation film (we had about 10 months to do it). We used the softwars 3ds Max, Photoshop and After Effects =)
+maeva gruaz awesome vid
+maeva gruaz could you name once for the other 2 kids that went too?
So her tribe sends all the children of age on a boat to an island where they adapt to wildlife with their care takers/ instructors, they grow up on the island until they are ready, when they are they tray on the bracelet to see if it fits, if it does they go back home. On top of the story i thought it was an amazing animation, keep up the good work
cool
I cried at the ending :( I was really hoping for a beauty and the beast ending where she comes back and they continue to live on the island ALL THE FEELS
Who else can see this as being a Disney movie?
Ikr I thought the same thing as soon as I saw it
Aren't they making one about a girl in Hawaii? I think it's called Moana or something.
+AliceofRed yes it's coming out I think November 23 I'm so excited!!! I hope it lives up to my expectations finally a princess from Hawaii although we have lilo it's still nice
+AliceofRed yup but do u live in a rock?😎
+Evy Long chasing solider No, I just have other focuses on life like working and such that tend to take priority over other things like paying attention to upcoming Disney movies. I like to watch animated shorts such as this one in my free time, it just made me think of the new movie that is supposed to come out.
So all the rocks in the water are beasts?...sad but a good consept.
Dirk Strider I almost cried...
Yeah
Dirk Strider I almost CRIED when she left the beast and how the beast turned to stone 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😌😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

kittydothedisco 999 what were you going to say
That was sad at the end, but just like Cuddle Muffinz (Lani) said, it was also heartwarming!
That was beautiful. The ending was very sad, but very nice.
So heart warming I love it u should make sequels
Iona Mouser Thanks you ;)
This needs a sequel!
everything about this was beautiful
Very beautiful story... well done! *-*

I'm guessing she was an ancestor of Popeye with those forearms. Amazing animation though, and now I know how to start fires just with rocks.
Oh, this is a play on the “right of passage ritual!” I get it. Tyfs!
that was so beautiful u get a A+ in all of youtube
She must learn how to survive in the wild on her own. The creature guides her to survival. The creature keeps the..um...ring/bracelet until she is ready and/or completed her task on the island. When the time comes, she returns to the mainland.
Creature, however, knows that it is time to let her go back and he also knows that he will turn to stone for his duty is over. If you have noticed the other rock in the water around him, those rocks were also creatures that helped previous villagers.
One thing that is the ONLY question left: what the hell was under those rocks in the beginning?????
They were giant hermit crabs
could it be that when a beast turns to stone the things in the beginning grow into the next beast for the next kid who comes to the island?
It could be possible
Haha Answer: it was crabrocks ! Now you can sleep weel ;) Thank you for your comment on our movie ♥
Crabs if you just pay attention you will know
Omg this was so damn great and I didn't want her to go back. Waaaahmbulance call STAT.
Thanks to the team that made such charming story, great work.
I think that this could be a family tradition and the rings are passed down through generations and every time the creatures come alive again to show them how to live and the reason it turns into a rock is that it uses a child's liveliness as it's own energy and when it feels it ebbing away, he grants the child passage back home.
Sad then happy then sad why do you do this to me
BIG FLUFFY KOALA BEAR NOOOOO

Omg that ending *sheds manly tears
this is sad byte very cute.
THIS. SO. TOTALLY. NEEDS. A. MOVIE.
I really like it
So many unanswered questions...why did they send her to the island in the first place? What's the story with that tribe who raised her? How did they know when to return? Why did he turn into a stone pillar at the end?
agreed! Did the creature give up his life for her to go back to her family? They send her away so she can learn all the things they should have taught her? what's the point? how would their tribe even survive if they sent off all their 5 year olds? Was she suppose to just go to the island and come right back but she couldn't cause he kept the bracelet? so many questions
They sent her to the island to accomplish the ritual, that's where she will learn everything to help her grow and be an adult. They know when to return because she finally won the race. The monster turned into stone because he accomplished his mission and now that she leaves he doesn't have a reason to live, or because he represents childhood that die when arrives adulthood, or she simply invented him to help her survive and he died when she becomes an adult, since they don't have imaginary friends.
TheDeathToday Perfect! =D
TheDeathToday I dunno, I took it to be literal, since I can't think of any child who would think up an imaginary friend that hates them at first. I just feel bad I guess, his entire tribe really gets the short end of the stick: Raise someone else's kid then die when they come of age? Some lot in life...even so, I keep coming back to watch this again and again. There's just something about it.
Amelia Bee Yes, I get your point, it's a rather sad story.. But then, maybe is it just a monster that disappears when his duty is fulfilled? Maybe he exists only for the child that comes on the island, and wouldn't exist at all without the ritual? This video raises so many questions!
Kinda cried at the end
This was a sweet short film😍😍
Best short film ever so heart warming and full of energy I give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Such a beautiful rite of passage and a bittersweet goodbye. T_T
beautiful guys.
:D
that's an adorable animation!
Seriously this should be a series! got my vote!!
I see her arms and legs and all I can think of is Popeye.
The ritual is that they send the kids off so they can spend their teenage years on an island away from them and then come back as a responsible adult.
Lmao. The parents did not want to deal with their bullshit teen years.
I love the animation :D
Sad/cute, great storyline! 10/10
Beautiful. Thank you.
At the end when the fluffy guy turns to stone you can see that there are other rocks. So they regenerate and they live on.
I love the beast! the little girls face pisses me off though
I cried the whole way through!!!!!😢😢😢😢😢😢
This needs to be a movie it’s just too good
thegiant furry thing wus cute n.n
That's kinda jacked up how they use their children as a sacrifice
They don't. It's a ritual. Like how they prove they're grown up. Don't know for sure what ritual but it is one.
BeccaBear:3
Ok but it is still kinds messed up i cried :,(
+Junetval i think some real old civilizations did it at age 10-15 and they did it for like few weeks to a year
Bunnea tu parle anglais ?
Seemed more than a year as she went from a girl to a woman in that time.
Such a heat warming short. The animal dude thing fulfilled his purpose
This was well done. Good job!
so heart breaking😭
No the beast the the rocks are beats
Like many cultures, this one sends their children to mature in the wild and find their true hearts. ❤
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story, and yes full feature should be next for this one!
So she survived because of the giant bunny guy? Isn't that cheating? Did the other kids die? Or could it be that there where also bunny guys in the other islands and the other kids decided to stay with them, unlike her who decided she wanted to go back even if it killed him? Hmm sad, i kinda liked him
+Dafne Lopez I would just think it as them utilizing their surroundings.
Maybe the giant bunny is meant to help her. There are lots of giant rocks on the beach, everytime a child leaves the giant bunnies will turn into rocks
I think the ritual is to come back with the bracelet alive; and if the children try to hunt the creature or go out on their own it ruins their chances. This way the society roots out it's criminals before it becomes an issue.
I feel like the creature was more like a guardian meant to teach how to survive in the world and kind of a test, when taught the child leaves and thus the creature's purpose is met. Knowing this he becomes a part of the island. And I don't believe the girl knew, but understood after seeing the stone. Wiping away her tears she then returned to live her life. But that is just what I think.
+Dafne Lopez From what I understand, it seems he is there to teach her how to survive in the wild for several years. When they are ready to return home, they give the bracelet back and his job is done.
The beast looks scary at night
I just realized that all the rocks on the shore (that weren't the crab-things) were other versions of those beasts that must've helped the kids before her. That's amazing and sad at the same time...
I loved the movie it ..made me cry😢😭😢😭😩😩
I will miss the beast but no bad beadt a really loveable best😭😭👍😳
why is this not a Disney movie or pixar
I KNOW RIGHT
+Hellsboundedsoul YEAH WHY NOT?!?
+Hellsboundedsoul Because disney doesn't sell real lessons or deep thoughts. They want flash, and marketability, and money. Not substance.
They may be missing out of a lot of money from not making real lessons, deep thoughts, or emotionally touching movies, I think that both genres of flash & substance are the things that I'd give my money for.
Disney did release Zootopia.
I love this cute cartoon,it makes me feel happy a little bit.
This was a pretty awesome animation but I got confused at the end but still was cool
That is so sad at the end☹
this somehow reminded me of the disney movie : the lost city of atlantis........
simone11425 blodymierre that's exactly why I clicked this video😂
simone11425 blodymierre don't you mean Moana?
Uhhgfr.
Amazing - Magical !! Congratulations
he was a rock the entire time. she survived on her own!
