      Basta drosera same flower lang po sir. Self pollinating kasi sila. Merong ibang cultivars na pwde e cross pollinate sa iba.. Pero ang sample ko sa video na 'to hindi pwde e cross sa ibang species.

    If I only have a coco peat, it can still live right?

    • @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985
      @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985  3 роки тому +1

      It can still live but it will not be as healthy as the ones with peat moss ang pumice. That's based on our experience. I think it's because pure coco peat is more compact. So the aeration is not that good compared to coco peat with peat moss and pumice. If you don't have peat moss at least mix some pumice or perlite to make the medium more airy. If the aeration is good they will grow bigger and healthier.

    Hi.. can we use white led instead for mature plant (not seedling)?. I want to make mini indoor carnivorous bog garden , so white led is better for it to be enjoyed.

    • @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985
      @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985  3 роки тому +2

      In our experience the white LED we used is just for germinating seeds. After they have grown a few centimeters they stopped growing. We experimented on some of our plants. The ones that we transferred outdoor grew bigger and matured. Now they are producing flowers. The ones that we left under a white LED and on the full spectrum are still small(3 months already). Both sundews and VFT's. I've searched on the internet some growlight are made specifically for germinating seeds. You have to buy another growlight that are made specifically to make them grow or mature.

      @@wilmanj.5139 indoor is still suggested if you have a growlight for growing 'til they mature. But if you have a space for outdoor set up we suggest that you place them outdoors. Morning sun from 6am to 10am is what we suggest both in germinating seeds and for growing.
      If you're in Indonesia we have the same climate. So our set up is applicable to yours.

      @@diyhobbyistcoupleph4985 am planning to get some vft, drosera, pinguicula, and one sarracenia. Vft and sarracenia is a bit expensive though haha.. anyway do your vft experience some dormancy?

    • @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985
      @diyhobbyistcoupleph4985  3 роки тому

      @@wilmanj.5139 be careful in pinguiculas because they are sensitive. Treat them like succulents. Don't spray or water directly onto them. Just on the medium but just a little every 2 or 3 days depending on the climate. Never let it sit on water.
      For vft being dormant. If you buy from a local nursery in your country there is less chance for it to become dormant because it has already adapted to the tropical climate like ours. But in our experience I can't tell if it has undergone dormancy because it didn't stopped producing traps buy only produced small traps and in just 1 month. And that only happened to one vft out of 20 that we have. One of my friend claimed that he experience dormancy. He just put it in the refrigerator in the vegetable compartment until it recovered.
      We only experienced dormancy in one of our droseras. It's drosera Intermedia. It stopped producing leaves and all the existing leaves slowly died out and we let one grower confirmed it. We didn't do anything we just leave it that way and after a month it recovered.
      If you want to start with sarracenias we suggest you start with sarracenia scarlet belle. It's easier to grow and can tolerate tropical climate. Ok with full sun or partially shaded. It's beautiful and produce pitcher fast.^^
      In buying carnivorous plant we suggest to buy on big nurseries or farms. They usually sell their plants at a cheaper price. Hobbyist or small growers sell their plants at a higher price because they only have few available plants to sell. Kind of supply vs demand.^^

      Hindi ko pa na try ang java moss pero sa tingin ko pag wla talagang available na sphagnum o peat moss OK na siguro yun. Basta lagyan mo lng ng pumice o perlite for aeration. Kasi sa experience namin kahit sa coco peat na my pumice ok naman ang growth nila. Wash mo lng ang java moss bago gamitin. Observe mo lang ang growth ng tanim kung ok sila. Pag hindi OK dapat my ready ka na na sphagnum para malipat mo agad.
