  • As with all surgeries, from time to time, patients are dissatisfied with their results from their rhinoplasty. So the question is what should you do if you're unhappy or dissatisfied with the result of your rhinoplasty?
First I would say to be patient. It takes up to a year for all the swelling to go away after rhinoplasty. So if you're in the recovery stage before that one year point, you may just need to be patient and allow your nose to heal and see what it looks like after the year has passed and the swelling has resolved.
Let's say the year has passed and swelling is resolved then you're still not pleased with the results of your rhinoplasty? My first suggestion would be you return to the doctor who performed your rhinoplasty. You selected this individual and presumably this individual is qualified and you had trust in this individual, so I would first return to your doctor and review your concern with your doctor and give him or her a chance to let you know what they think and how they feel about your outcome.
Should it turn out that you're not satisfied or pleased with the initial physician who performed your rhinoplasty and greater than a year has passed since the time of your scepter rhinoplasty, it may be time to look for another surgeon. I would look for a surgeon who specializes in facial plastic surgery, rather than plastic surgery in general. I would look for a surgeon who is board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. That's the board that certifies individuals who specialize in facial plastic surgery.
Then I would look for somebody who has expertise not only in rhinoplasty, but in performing revision rhinoplasty. Ask your prospective doctor, how many rhinoplasties they perform in a year, how many revision rhinoplasties they perform in year, how they've been performing rhinoplasty. With some of these questions, with some of this guidance, I hope you're able to find somebody to perform your revision rhinoplasty if it turns out that's what you need.
