At 21:00 reminds of pictures of my ancestors sitting outside of their cabins. And how we run from that simple life to live in the busy smoggy big cities. Thank you for reminding me of my ancestors and how simple and honest and happy they were back in the day.

Hi Vanessa, It's your old friend Toolman. "John". You are making a masterpiece of the Cabin. Considering how you are scraping up mostly used furniture and your' hard work you are doing a great job.
If the Cabin Owner is a good guy and you say, you are paying him rent, he should fix the roof for you. It is the right thing for him to do. If the roof leaks all your' nice furniture and bedding will be trash. Looking forward to the next "Fox's Den" video. You are a special Lady!
    John

Vanessa, the cabin is coming along very nicely and you appear more relaxed about getting it ready. 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽 The next logical steps, to me, is a composting toilet, rainwater collection, and chopping the fallen trees for next winter’s supply of firewood.

The additions of the furniture you brought into your cabin makes it look nice and safe also with your children with you. I love the way you have the cabin looking inside and with the kitchen setup you have for cooking is great and it too is safe with your children around and I hope you are putting a bolt into the wall where your dresser is placed so it is child safe because they can pull it over on them if they open up more than one drawer at a time. The same applies for any other furniture you have where they can hurt themselves if pulled down by accident. The inside of the cabin is looking great, but the area of the outside ceiling is in need of repair, but you can get to that later on as you have time to get to it.

Hi Vanessa I am a fan from the United States. Your cabin looks amazing! I can't believe it looks sooo different just from a real good cleaning and adding the homey touches that you have added. I had a thought on what you could use as a back splash for your kitchen counter. I have seen a lot of people use metal roofing as back splashes. They also use it around wood stoves to keep the walls protected from the heat. I think that the metal roofing gives a cabin a rustic look ,it serves a purpose and is not very expensive. I also was thinking you could make another bed in the cabin. Go on google and search "Murphy Bed", they are not very expensive or difficult to build yourself. all you really need is part of an empty wall. Let me know what you think. I'm very interested in your cabin videos. I would love to have a cabin way out in the woods. I'm so happy for you that you were able to fulfill that dream of yours. Good luck to you and god bless. Always look forward to your videos.

Greetings from Savannah, Georgia U.S.A. Your Cabin is looking wonderful -- I can see how happy it makes You. I too (like other subscribers) agree that the owner of the Cabin should really be responsible for the roof repairs. I would like to suggest the following: If the owner is not willing or able to cover the roofing cost up front -then- You pay for it and have this cost deducted from the rent (U mentioned that U pay rent) Maybe by handling the repairs through a reduction in rent, it would keep Your relationship with the Owner on excellent terms. I do enjoy following You on your many adventures and I hope this Cabin provides U with so much fun & satisfaction in the future.

I think I remember you saying you are renting the cabin. If you are renting the cabin, I have 2 concerns: the owner taking back the cabin after you make it nice again; the owner raising your rent because the cabin is desirable again.

I wouldnt worry about that, if the owner was to do that the cabin would then become a ton of kindling

If I remember correctly, she said she had it for five years, so I take it, it's more like a lease. I do believe, the owner should repair the roof for her, or at least foot the bill.

Sorry for the delay in watching this - playing catch up on missed episodes. For the clothing, maybe a waterproof bag that you can roll up and squeeze the air out for compact storage. This would keep things dry and by placing a piece of cedar in with your clothes, they will not smell musty or dank, if you keep plan on keeping the clothes there for a period of time. Love how you are making The Fox Den a home away from home. Great Job!! Gott segne.

Your cabin is really well built. A good carpenter built it. I 💘 love how you've furnished it! AND like you, I like the light color of the interior wood (bead board) paneling. I'll say one thing in caution, "Please don't store ANY sort of fuel inside the cabin." Even the small amount of fuel in the generator, is dangerous....around open flames (lanterns). 😌And I agree the lanterns ARE beautiful! The English word is "ambience". You'll use your cabin more if you minimize how much you have to carry each time you visit. Like fuel.
As for the roof, I would clean it off, and screw down, new thin corrugated metal sheeting over it. It's FAST, with power drills, strong, and no heavier to pack in than the furniture you just brought. Fairly cheap too.1to2 Euros/sq ft. It will span (cover) the rotted boards too. So you might need only to replace the board at the edge.
Finally Vanessa, you already know, people make these suggestions out of love, meine liebe. They, (I) are trying to protect you....that's all. Myself, I watch your face throughout every video. So much strength. So much POSITIVE energy! You radiate that!😌Danke!

It looks great Vanessa! A tip for the kitchen. Keep your cups and plates turned upside down to keep dust, bugs, and mice from going in them. I do this at home and camping. Great Job. So happy for you.

You did a brilliant job fitting out the interior of your cabin. With a woman's touch it feels cozy and like a home. If a man did it the cabin would look and feel like a hunting camp.

Super wonderful creative ideas Vanessa, I am always impresses with your mind set on that keep going attitude. Life CHALLENGES have positives effects on people's of good will for their spiritual GROWING and eternal destiny... Resilience is a powerful way of progression in our life short journeys of development and self confidence with faith in our almighty father's of all of us. The good choices we make, while struggling with the positive and negative (yin and yang) bring wisdom and light for our soul for the benefits of all the rising children's of our master's and the humanity's... ( I have probably some orthography mistakes here, since I am French speaking, but you can understand me like I do with your charming English and get to the point). I am in the process of keep learning to... I love to see you in this process with all these videos. You reach my heart. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ENLIGHTENING TESTIMONY HERE ON UA-cam.

Your cabin is really looking cozy. Just a suggestion. If you put furniture wheels on that clothes dresser you could move it close to your food prep area when you need extra counter space. Like a movable kitchen island. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing.

I love it! Everything fits so nicely - it looks bigger than it did empty & also more welcoming. Good idea about the metal around the stove & the bucket is perfect for the sink. Hopefully mice will not come in again. Unoccupied buildings attract them. What a sweet retreat.

The inside is looking so cozy like a home. I have watched other cabin builders and they cut down some trees that are close to the cabin for safety. Also a tarp to cover the roof when it's going to be fixed in case it rains while the work is being done. Hopefully someone can help remove all the wet moss and help fix the roof. XO 😀 ❤ You are so friendly and sweet love your videos!!

To properly clear trees. Either measure or find the the average tree height and add 10-20 feet (3 to 6 meters) to that measurement. From the center of the area to be cleared mark a circle at the farthest point using the measurement. You now have the area that needs to be cleared.
